Altair, main protagonist of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed - Image 1Video game publisher and developer Ubisoft recently announced the results of its year end financial report. It seemed like the French company had a rather lucrative year with sales rising by 36 percent, which amounted to around €928 million (US$ 1.46 billion).

Most of Ubisoft's success were thanks to the sales racked up by Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) and Assassin's Creed (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and DS). Surprisingly, its casual brand, "Games for Everyone", outperformed itself by contributing €230 million (US$ 361 million) in sales for the titles in its full year.

CEO Yves Guillemot was proud to relate that the company's "Games for Everyone" casual range of games was able to do very well, with sales tripling over the year. Existing franchises and original IP releases also contributed to their success, all of which make up the three different strategic focuses Ubisoft has built itself on in 2007 to 2008.

Guillemot continued by saying that the company will continue to concentrate on all three strategies into the coming fiscal year. He expects 2008 to be another record year with an expected growth of no less than 15%. Ubisoft is expected to release even more titles this year, with no fewer than seven from existing franchises, five new releases, and new brands according to its casual agreement.

Ubisoft is looking forward to the new fiscal year as it expects sales of €154 million (US$ 241.7 million) in its first quarter of 2008, and projects an estimated €1 billion for its full year sales target.
