Umihara Kawase Marvelous - Image 1Marvelous Interactive's Umihara Kawase's release date may have been pushed back, but there's still a way to get your fix of the game today. As it turns out, the Japanese PlayStation Store now has a demo of Umihara Kawase available. Containing three fields, this packs quite a punch for a mere demo of the game.

If you're interested in getting the demo, and if you have a Japanese PlayStation Store account, here's some tips on how to get started with the game. Press and hold the square button to attach your grappling hook to nearby blocks, and press the up and down directional buttons to adjust the length of your line. Use the left and right buttons to safely swing over the gaps to the next platform.

Pretty easy, yes? Better grab the game, so you can check out for yourself whether or not Umihara Kawase is worthy of an import purchase.

For those that don't want to create a japanese PlayStation Store account, demos such as Space Invaders Extreme, Echodrome and Umihara Kawase are regularly released through the PlayStation Store. All you have to do is visit http://www.jp.playstation.com/ps-portable/dl/ from your PSP and click through the update news. Japanese maybe but rather easy to navigate, not needing any registration/login and you can download wallpapers, visual themes, trailers and demos directly on your PSP without needing a PC. ;3

I'm sorry if this is commonly known, but how do you get a JP Store account? I currently have a Japanese Ceramic White PSP that allows me to use the JP PSP Spot (I can download the above mentioned demos) But is there more goodies in the JP PSstore?

» No account needed for the PlayStation Spot

Anyone with a PSP connected to Internet can visit the PlayStation Spot ( http://www.jp.playstation.com/ps-portable/dl/ ) and download its contents and no account is needed to do that. It is not the same thing as the japanese "PlayStation Spot", though, and I wouldn't recommend you to register your PSP on a japanese Store account if you already have registered it on an american or european one.

 » Correction...

Sorry, meant that the "PlayStation SPOT" isn't the same thing as the japanese "PlayStation STORE". Technically, the PlayStation Spot is just an "open" webpage, only visitable from a PSP, that has direct download links to downloadable content, updated weekly. No need for an account, a specific PSP model or even a specific wireless access. I visit the PlayStation Spot weekly from my european PSPs, from home, far from Japan, so it works great and I'd really recommend it to those who may find "their" PlayStation Store a bit dry and don't mind a bit of moonspeak. ;P
