Cool. I hope MPH will be able to emulate the firmware that has PSP-PS3 connectivity. I'd really like to use my PS3 like a LocationFree to stream movies but I don't want to lose homebrew...
lol in-game advertisements for a console and game YOU already PAID for lol
i wonder if the ps3 will have some super high tech anty homebrew firmware
New firmware for PSP means new securities and there will be a limit to how much firmware emulation can go.
They needed 50gb disk? This was a surprise to me. I thought 25gb disk would be plenty but if they are using 50gb disk then you can be sured games are being designed with 1080p in consideration. This also could be due to using no compression whatsoever for the best quality possible. as HDMI wont use any compression to have the best possible sound.
using gamespy technology no doubt would have advertisements involved. No surprise here.
Sweet that they will have a massive online infastructure on day one. gamespy is huge, they have their own servers and no doubt they will be hosting PS3 severs of their own for gamespy members.
Xboxlive is an ant compared to gamespy so good choice by Sony.
the sort of protection they will have be godly you know it gonna be obserd let alone the 3.00 firmware
Sony's damn Blu-Ray discs better not make the end cost of games over $49.99, if it does, I'm not getting a PS3
oh my yet more overpriced stuff for Sony to come, look at how much a crappy umd cost wtf will a will a 50gb blu-ray disk gonna cost.
On the other hand i cant wait to play some ture next gen games on that beast of a console, hopefully a remake of ff7 ^_^
"What are the plans for PSP-PS3 wireless connectivity?
Answer: You will be able to use the PSP to stream content that is stored on the PS3’s hard drive, whether that be game downloads, music or video."
hmm "game downloads" seems pretty interesting.
im pretty sure it would be worth the 49.99 but it would definately suck being that expensive but surely if it was that expensive no one would buy it so they would have to reduce cost possibly makin the games poor in quality
there you have it..
the HARD DRIVE IS INCLUDED IN THE BOX!
i read the forums where u found this info
and it said something about the XBOX360 having a 18x ratio (9GB disks and 512 on-board memory) but the PS3 has a 98x ratio (50GB disk and 512 memory on-board).
so why is the PS3's ratio better?
(read page 5 of the forum to find out what i am talking about)

the harddrive in the box has been confirmed for a little while now....
"we need 50GB disc" that is all well and dandy...but that does not mean it will have 1080p at the launch(if it does good for them and good for me when i buy it) but the disc is not all the processes the resloution.....the system itself needs the power
if the games go anywhere near or over 10GB i will be surprised.
yeah, the ads in the game won't be ps3 ads, they'll be for other things. sony and the game producers will sell advertising space to other companies... see?
yeah, hard disk as standard has been promised since gdc at least.
what's this limited blu-ray capabitlities? what did ps2 not have that dvd players do?
it think it all sounds rather good, we're all getting a little used to the idea of ps3 now, but lets remember it's going to be a stonking games playing machine and will feature a bunch of other stuff, maybe not as much as some had hoped, but enough for me.
I got new that Warhawk will be around 17 gb and killzone more than 12 gb and that killing day will have more than 21gb and many games are awaited to have more than 25gb yet I don't know about 50gb games.
the remake of final fantasy 7 has any one seen the preview video for that its immense
i wish u asked them when it wil come out and info about the psps new firmware 3.00 and its release date, lol, sry to be bragging, i just want that sony ps1 emu and its other features.
psone emu is gonna be the best emu ever but i bet you wont be alble to run your own psone games that youv backed up yourself
hopefully sony's ps1 emulator will open the eyes of people trying to create their own (if it's decryptable and everything), someone could hack it maybe? will have to wait and see
for the most part, in my skating communities, we've lived off of gamespy servers, and hell do they suck.
Making the PSOne emulator able to play the games that you backed up yourself is an open door to illegal isos, so that is not going to happen...
I'm very much interested in the conectivity between PS3 and PSP. If Sony does things right, that will give a strong push to PSP sales. They have to make every PS3 owner wanting to get a PSP.
psone emu is gonna be the best emu ever but i bet you wont be alble to run your own psone games that youv backed up yourself
That content distribution service for PSP is scheduled for November, as is the PS3. I think that you will be able to put your PS1 games into your PS3 and "unlock" PS1 game downloads for the PSP, as opposed to buying them.
Sony needs to have every PSP owner wanting to get a PS3. I think thats the correct way of thinking PSPLord.
I've been holding out on the XBOX360 just because I want to know about the connectivity between the PSP and PS3
that would suc what if you havnt got the interbet access to ps3 would mean you would have to subscribe to the ps3 online service b4 you could utalize the psone emu
I may be a bit jaded from too many years of buying Sony products only to watch tSony choak them to death trying to squeeze out every last penny, but....
From what we now know about plans for a PS1 emulator for PSP and PS3 I'm betting it will work as follows:
1) Use PS3 online service to buy and download PS1 game. Given the pricing of UMD movies, I am willing to bet that these will cost as much or more than they did as PS1 greatest hits games since Sony has no shame in asking people to pay full price or more for lesser quality/more restrictive to use content. Also don't expect any credit just because you already purchased the CD version of the game.
2) Use wireless connectivity, hopefully OR by swapping memory sticks, to transfer downloaded file to PSP. That's a 650MB cd over a 802.11b folks!
3) Run the game on the PSP using the emulator included in firmware 3.00+. Say goodbye to homebrew.
In summary: a service that works only for those who drop $500+ for the PS3, $200-250 for the PSP, $60+ for a 1GB+ memory stick duo, probably $20-40 for the specific game, possibly a fee to use the online service, and are willing to upgrade to the latest PSP/PS3 firmware. If true, would anyone still be interested? I'd rather just pick up a PS1/2 along with a copy of the game on CD and keep my homebrew on the road.
Yah, I'm VERY glad that there will be PSP to PS3 connectivity. And that there is going to be a HDD included. But I'm wondering how they are going to handle downloading content onto the PS3. The news about a possible HDD on the PSP is also good news, but I also wonder how much memory it's going to be. Days like these you wish you had some type of time machine , huh :P? I may have to just wait until next tax season because you can be sure this won't be cheap :-S :P By then it might finally be released :P...lol.
kvadair,
I don't think you'll need a PS3 to put the PS1 games on your PSP for the emulator. But it's still not good.
Am I the only one that thinks the controller is reeeally ugly?
^^^nah, you're the only one.^^^
Sony stated that's not the real controller
dam sony to hell y cant thing be simple y not just make it play a certain format then sell the ripper to make em that way they make money and we get ps1 emu that we dont have to rebuy the games we have

Keeping his cards close to the chest, in his usual style, Phil Harrison (Sony VP of development) provided a bit of clarification about the future of the PS3 in a recent meeting attended by Tejstar of AVForums. Naturally, there was no mention of a release date, (not even a price or pre-order information) but there were specifics about a few things.
