Valhalla Knights - Image 1Let's veer away from those rumors and speculations for now and let's get to something more concrete. Weekly Famitsu matter-of-factly reveals that the RPG Valhalla Knights from Marvelous Entertainment will be having a sequel.

Looking to a Spring 2008 Japanese release and being developed by K2, Valhalla Knights 2 is said to incorporate new customization options for player characters. Apart from that, there will be more races to interact with, and over 370 types of weapons and armors to use against enemies.

More exciting about having a full armada of weapons is the fact that there are some 80,000 possible combinations for you to choose from and use in the 60 different quests you'll go through. Lots of big numbers there, huh?

So far, it still isn't clear what path the wireless LAN mode will take, but it's been said that it will be allowing multiplayer and may include co-op and versus battle modes. If that got you excited, then you better get those fingers crossing.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on more news as they come.

Valhalla Knights - Image 1

GamerSquad has scored an interview with Mitsuo Kodama, Valhalla Knights' producer and visual director, who gives quite a lot of info on the game. The game's already out in the U.S. and is being prepped for its European release, so this is more for those gamers who have yet to try Valhalla Knights out.

Anyway, on to the interview. One of the most important aspects of the game lies in the player's ability to raise the level and combat effectiveness of his or her team. "You can't clear this game without raising your team, said Kodama. "The secret of this game is how strong you can raise your characters during your adventure."

To do that, players must explore numerous dungeons, dispatch a lot of enemies and collect various rare items. "In Valhalla Knights, you can go forward by clearing quests," said Kodama. "Meanwhile, the story moves on. So, you don’t need to pay attention in order to move the story, just move yourself freely. The further you explore, the more you can understand the story."

Well, it's look to be time for another PlayStation Portable blowout for Sony, as five quality titles head for the bargain bin under Sony's "The Best" series of PSP games. This time around, we have a football sim, a strategy RPG, two full-fledged RPGs, and a mystery title whose name gets mangled horribly in translation. Let's have a look, shall we?

The titles up in the new line of Best Collection offerings follows below. As for the translation to our mystery title, let us know if you happen to have an idea of what it is from the covers above.
The titles will all be out on June 28, and, with the exception of Magna Carta Portable, will retail at ¥2,800 (US$ 23). Magna Carta Portable will instead cost folks ¥2,940 (US$ 24).

*UPDATE: Thanks to our wonderful commenters, we found out that the mystery title was Boku no Natsu Yasumi, or My Summer Vacation.

Valhalla Knights has been available for some time now in video games retail stores all across North America but we feel like we have to talk about this video game title for a bit more. After all, this was one of the more awaited titles ever since XSEED Games announced that it will be publishing it this side of the globe.

What we have for you today are two new video clips for Valhalla Knights. The first one is an intro vid giving us a glimpse of the once glorious land and its inhabitants. Towards the end, we see the boy who lost his memory - the very same character who will be pivotal to the land's destruction or redemption.

The next one is both an exploration and combat gameplay video. In this clip, we see the boy running through dungeons and fighting off various creatures like slimes and dragons. Enjoy!

Pocket Pool available now - Image 1April 16 isn't exactly a big day for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) community. If you're clamoring for some new games or movies for your handheld, we are afraid that the choices are rather limited. The only new releases for this day just include two games and one UMD movie.

Let's talk about the movie first. It is actually "Spider-Man (1)", the first in the trilogy that came out back in 2002. As you all know, in it in this movie where Peter Parker was bitten by a spider that altered his life forever. It is also in this move that we came to know about Mary Jane and his first ever nemesis, Green Goblin.

For video game titles, be informed that Valhalla Knights and Pocket Pool are both available for purchase now. The second one was developed by Conspiracy Entertainment and published by Eidos Interactive. Not your ordinary pool game, Pocket Pool features several adult content like girls going, err, wild.

Lastly, XSEED Games' Valhalla Knights is out in the market as well. If you're the kind of gamer who digs the RPG genre, then you could try this one out. In this video game, you start as a character in a strange land with no memory whatsoever about his real identity.

Ever since XSEED Games' Valhalla Knights was announced for the North American market, every RPG-loving PSP owner can't have enough of this game. Well, to start things off, the storyline is rather gripping. Players start off as a hero in a strange land with no idea about his real identity.

However, deep down, your character feels that the blood of a legendary warrior flows though him. He then sets off on a journey to recover his long, forgotten memories. If that's not gripping enough for you, we don't know what is anymore. Anyway, aside from the storyline, Valhalla Knights' features are remarkable as well but we guess you all know that by now.

But for those who don't, you can always browse through our previous coverage of this game. You can start right here, by watching the "features" video for the game. Valhalla Knights should be available on April 17.

The man asked you a question...

Good RPG titles for the PSP are a rare find these days, but here's something to look forward to for Q1 2007. Up ahead are more screenshots of the Valhalla Knights title we're eagerly awaiting to hit stateside. Now, what makes these special compared to the past few shots we've featured is that they're from the English version. Like the dude above said, what more could we ask for?

For the guys who have already been visiting the game's main site, consider this your first-hand look at the game's English interface. Enjoy the screens, and see if you can figure out who's who based on the main site's character listing.

Valhalla KnightsNow that we know that XSeed Games' upcoming RPG, Valhalla Knights, will be making it to American shores, all we're really waiting for now is a date for when the RPG-playing, PSP-loving community will get their hands on the game.

Unfortunately, we can't bring you that information just yet. Not because we're selfish sons of *bleeps* here in QJ, but because...well, we don't know either. But what we do know is that the game's English website is now up, running, alive, and kicking! A website launch may be yawn-inducing as compared to a release date announcement, but hey, at least we're given a temporary fix right?

So anyway, the game's website isn't that loaded yet, but you do get to check out the character profiles, explore the worlds in Valhalla Knights, get a primer on the game in the story section, and download wallpapers.

They'll also be posting a new trailer soon so watch out for that too. If you wanna check out the site (as we're sure you do), just click on the "read" link below and you're all set.

Valhalla Knights is said to be slated for release Q1 2007. We'll keep you posted for more developments.

Valhalla Knights

We've already brought you guys the game's first official Japanese trailer a few months ago, and now we have another Valhalla Knights trailer for you. We think this one's focusing a bit more on the Hobbit character race (seeing as how there's a big old "Hobbit" stamped near the beginning of the gameplay shots) as well as the Dwarf (same as the Hobbit note), but since our Japanese just isn't too hot we're not entirely sure.

Graphics-wise, though, this full 3D game looks like dungeon crawling at its best, with great graphics and interesting gameplay that combines standard action-RPG elements with tactical team combat and even stealth elements. The trailer also gives a peek at the game's character creation system, which looks to be something that hardcore twink-masters will get a kick out of.

Download the video by clicking on the download link below. Valhalla Knights has already been released by Marvelous Interactive in Japan. The US release date hasn't been announced by XSEED Games yet, but we're sure a lot of fans are already eagerly awaiting - if not already playing the imports - of this great-looking RPG.

You might remember us mentioning that Valhalla Knights made a showing during TGS 2006. Well we found word that XSEED Games acquired North American publishing rights for the game. Personally, I can only say one word: Woot.

Just so you know, here are some of the more notable features of this action RPG for your PSP.
  • Customizable characters – Players can select from five races (human, dwarf, halfling, elf, machine) and eight different job classes (Fighter, Mage, Priest, Thief, Knight, Samurai, Ninja, Anchor).
  • Complete quests, recruit new party members and upgrade your equipment... standard RPG fare. We hear that there's a big selection of weapons, armors, as well as accessories, and they also become visible on the in-game models when equipped. And that's something not so standard, especially coming from a Japanese RPG.
  • Real-time battles that allow the player to do a balance act controlling the six party members. Want to switch from your Mage to a Samurai in the middle of a battle? We hear you can do so in this game.
  • 2-Player Co-op Mode - We're talking about 30 co-op missions exclusive to the multi-player mode.
  • 2-Player Versus Mode
Want you can check out how this game looks like? We got screens and a trailer for you here. The title is scheduled for release during the first quarter of 2007.
