Homebrew developer PSPdemon recently made an interesting discovery regarding N64 game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and N64 emulator for the PlayStation Portable Daedalus. The video clip below shows how he was able to access the test or debug areas. |

yeah im first *****es u all suck my dust
This is not the actual legend of zelda ocarina of time rom, this is the rom for debugging... And for the looks of it it runs pretty well here (the reason is that most of the memory taken on RAM on the ocarina of time rom is on it's textures and interactive characters).
PS: If lines of code could be ommitted on the actual legend of zelda ocarina of time ROM, could it run at good framerate?
No one gives a ***** if you're first or not.
is this for real...lo0ol!
but i allways got that rom to work from r11 just that it wasnt playing the sound too good and a little slow i dont see the big deal i can play lozot on my pspso can everyone with half a brain
im better off playing Zelda Twilight Princess on my Gamecube than getting this 2 work on my PSP
nice but it seems to be a fake because it still looks rather fluently even when the frame rate goes below 10/sec
You should recognize a heavy slow down with this rate. So I think that the video is played faster than it was captured.
Zelda never worked for me. It was unbelievable slow and covered with bugs.
This could be real, because im using R12 and my Super Mario 64 was laggy for a week or two, then I loaded the rom with the exact same options and it ran perfectly. Same with F-Zero, and some sports games.
to, i dont understand, this is the debug rom not the offical one which is about 64mb in size.
That's the official master quest rom ripped from the gamecube collector's disc. And it's only 32 megabytes
alexking this is not fake i have the debug rom and i could come out with the same results as he has, it does work and is a much higher framrate than the real rom and double the size.
Question guys, where is R13???? its been like forever since there has been any news on it
he hasnt updated in a looong time. sometimes i feel as if he got tired of it and abandoned. but hey its his emu and i appreciate everything he did so far. i would totaly make my own N64 emu if i knew how.
Why would he use Masters Quest to test with? The rom for Masters Quest is not the same as the original N64 rom. Those of us with real N64 backup-units can tell you that.
Some textures, sounds and effects have been modified to run on the GC and won't work correctly even on a real N64.
For testing he should use the correct Ocarina of Time rom.
...you do know this is a debug rom, right?
No News means Good News, as he is Most Probably Making One Hell of a Good Update for the Next Release,
From His Blogs Before, he said he had Loads of Improvements to Complete, so i bet that R13 is going to have Absolutely Amazing Speed Increases............:o)
yeah that would be sweet if he came back with a huge update
how the heck can you get the debug oot rom to work when it doesn't work right on pc?
Is your PC hamster powered or something? My Intel Pentium M 1.7Ghz Laptop can run the debug ROM fine. Upgrade ur RAM, young man.
Is it possible to unpack roms? Though the file size would be bigger, code would run faster. However I don't know if roms are even packed in the first place.
no, they aren't packed. as long as it's not in .zip format, to the best of my knowledge, z64 files are packed as one file, but not compressed, if that's what you mean.
