Ó

We're pretty sure that you guys are having a grand time with the newly-released unbricker for all PlayStation Portables from the heaven-sent homebrew developers Noobz team and Team C+D. We're all as surprised as you probably were with the early release, especially since it was only yesterday that Fanjita announced such a concept exists.

Anyway, the Pandora Battery has been unleashed and we all soon don't have to worry about replacing our bricked PSPs. If you've seen our earlier coverage on this one, though, the process involved in making this possible requires some technical knowledge as one has to convert a normal PSP battery into a jigkick one.

As much as the devs released a complete and exhaustive Readme.txt file with the program, we figured that some of you may still have some problems following the instructions. So here's a video clip from user FreePlay showing how to unbrick your PSP units. Have fun!

Thanks Spikertk for the heads up!

 » Brave New World

This is quite a massive achievement from all devs behind it. Basically, it is, like the name suggests it, Pandora's Box: unless major hardware-side adjustments on the PSP and its battery are made, this method will continue to unlock any PSP that was, is and will be. It's unfortunate that they couldn't release it at their desired time due to leaks (frankly, a blatant sign of disrespect and in some cases, even commercial theft).

Thanks to all the devs, and welcome to a brave new world..that of the PSP unlocked at whim.

   Re: non (Unregistered) - 2007-08-24
 » Re: Brave New World

Some mixed metaphors there Erwin. You say "This Pandora's box...will continue to unlock any PSP that was, is and will be." As if Sony should be afraid and make changes to the PSP. How can a company recieving less units to repair be considered a bad thing?

Then you say it is unfortunate for Team C+D about the leaks which are "in some cases, even commercial theft." Team Noobz and other homebrew devs are community driven not commercial.

Moneys in the mail guys. Thank you so much!

I had never expected something like this was even possible. Your team(s) have achieved something remarkable for the homebrew scene. Well done.

Now how does $50 sound? ;p

Yes. This is basically an UNIVERSAL UNBRICKER / UNIVERSAL DOWNGRADER !

This ***** is revolutionary ! No longer will we need GTA:LCS or Lemmings for downgrading. This is the ***** indeeeed. Think of the new Slim PSP... It can be downgraded BEFORE it even comes out ! At least I think so... because the batteries are compatible.

Now people will have to post new tutorials on how to brick and downgrade the PSP. Even on youtube, why not.

   Re: Tanukikun (Unregistered) - 2007-08-23
 » Don't have to brick

You don't even have to brick to downgrade. The Pandora simply bypasses the internal firmware and loads 1.5. I just downgraded a 3.52 PSP to M33.

I have to give props (and a donation of $30) to the Dev team. Everyone should contribute what you can. Even if its just $1. This is a real worthwhile project!!

I thought that the normal psp battery could be used in a slim, it would just stick out.

Anyways great job with this you guys! I hope it works on the slim!

so.. um... price and where can i get one?????

   Re: NeO (Unregistered) - 2007-08-23
 » You Don't buy

You don't buy it, it's Homebrew, you just buy yourself a spare PSP battery, and then follow the instructions in the download to make the spare battery into a Jigkick. Then you have a little black unbricker for the rest of time. Woop!

Nice one guys for this! Never bricked but it sure saves me buying a UP.

 » Downgrading

I want to clear something up. It can recover a bricked psp but can it downgrade lets say firmware 3..52? They never said anything about downgrading. I assume it can since it runs on startup(like using a bootdisk). Can someone actually find a source saying it can downgrade!

   Re: Unregistered_Coward (Unregistered) - 2007-08-23
 » Yes

It recovers a bricked Psp by reflashing the firmware back to 1.5. Since your Psp does not have to be bricked to run this in the first place it will also downgrade / re-flash a Psp from 3.52 back to 1.5.

Hey,
The instructions are included in the zip file, you have to download it from DL link first and then check readme.txt.

the current battery will work with slim although knowing Sony they'll probably modify the hardware to prevent this from working.

WHY DID THEY RELEASE THIS NOOOWWW DAM THEY SHOULD HAVE WAITED UNTIL THE SLIM CAME OUT. NOW SONY WILL PATCH IT DAGGGG MANNNNNNN

   Re: ... (Unregistered) - 2007-08-23
 » ......

no. sony patching it wouldn't make sense. what would they do? then they'd have to make a jigkick. the slim are already in production. can't patch it.

Re: geeky man (Unregistered) - 2007-08-24
 » agreed with "..."

that's right. Just because the PSP slim isn't out in stores yet doesn't mean they aren't already boxed up and ready to ship. They are sitting in a warehouse somewhere, waiting to be shipped to stores. Just because you don't see them, it doesn't mean they aren't ready.

you are a dumb _ss before you you go and say stupid stuff like that why don't you visit the devs site at noobz.eu and when you read why they released it early, you might be a little more grateful....anyways thanx fanjita and C+D & everyone involved in the prometheus project, its a shame it had to come so premature but hopefully the scene can still be kept alive with all this in the open now.
