Ó

Steve-O (probably not the one from "Jackass") let us know of a clip he put up on YouTube. If there's one thing Dark_Alex's OE-B can definitely do, it's bring some decidedly dead videogame characters back to life.

Duke Nukem is a case in point. You could have raised a puppy from birth to death in the time it's taken for Duke Nukem Forever to see the light of day, and it's still not here. For all intents and purposes, the pretty alien babes he's been trying to save are now old and decrepit, and his guns fire rust instead of bullets.

Here's a video showing Steve-O playing the PS1 version of Duke Nukem: Time to Kill on his PSP. The video is kind of spotty due to the use of a camera phone, but there's enough detail to show that it really is the Duke blasting away on your handheld.

How can we be sure? He ends up dead as a doorknob at the end of the video, kinda like the rest of the franchise.

Update: PSPMeep sent us another tip with a video of him playing Crash Bandicoot#@%!1415#@%! using the OE-B firmware. It doesn't feel like it's running at full speed, but that just may be a trick of the camera.

Now that we have two videos of PS1 games running on Dark_Alex's homebrew, feel free to send us a tip with your own videos. Posting a link on the comments here might also grab our attention, but the funny little hamsters at the YouTube page kinda mess with how the videos look.

In any case, if you send more, maybe we can come up with an eventual mini-library of games that work with OE-B. The video proof will definitely help make things more official. Enjoy!

The games you must be using are probabally PAL instead of NTSC...

   Re: Helper (Unregistered) - 2006-12-25
 » here's how

the popstation will take bin/iso and certain others as well. So take your bin or iso ( I recommend bin format, I had quite a few black screens with iso format).
Run your command line as usual and convert the bin into an eboot.
Once created, copy both the eboot the keys.bin into a folder in PSP/GAME on the memory stick.
It should work just fine.

Does POPS support disc changing for multi-disc games yet? I'd love to play FF7 as much as anyone but getting stuck at the end of disc 1 would be a major issue.

There's a working link for my vid. (Somehow the equal sign turned into a plus sign in your link, Shamoo.) Forgot to login when I posted that, ah well. But yeah, there's the vid, living proof that Christmas '06 is a day that won't be forgotten for the PSP Scene...

And in response to dixiechicken, it shouldn't matter if there's multi-disc support for this. At the end of each CD, you are given the opportunity to save before switching discs (most games do this, some don't. The FF's are in the clear, though). At that point, you'd shut the system off and replace the EBOOT with the next disc's. ;)

   Re: DiabloTerrorGF - 2006-12-25
 » It works great.

I had to use a .bin instead of a .iso though it may of just been the program I was using.

Also, the music is really crappy sounding but that's because the range on the PSP speakers suck. When using headphones the game sounds perfect.

They come upto 730MB max. (One disc, you won't get all 3 discs on, that'd need a 4gig card.)

» for those in pal areas... unhappy news my friends

yes, most games at least have 'problems' with many not working.
i have tested a few, i got ff7 to get half way through intro: my heart broke... ff8 didn't run... ufo:enemy unknown runs but some of the text screws up etc.

basically you need ntsc games! it's not a good thing... but it's not the end of the world, there's always the internet for acquiring other iso's.

ff9 ntsc works like a dream btw - really, i was feeling like death when my pal games weren't playing ball, then i remembered my ntsc version of ff9! hooray

 » hmm so far..

I got Final Fantasy : Tactics, Castlevania : Symphony of the Night and Vanguard Bandits working perfectly.
I'm currently converting Breath of Fire IV ^_^;;

The only problem I've encountered so far is that I'm unable to run PSP Guilty Gear XX #Reload off the XMB so I have no choice to move on with Guilty Gear Judgement which takes more space off my memory stick and I don't really care about the scroll-fighting game that's in it! T__T

Peace~

 » quick mention

the first ripped PSX game I threw on worked like a charm: VAGRANT STORY!

there's a tiny little bit of slowdown at times, but so far nothing that makes it close to unplayable. slowdowns have occurred before a battle with a big enemy gets going, and when you enter first-person view. otherwise it's running marvelously...go rip your copies now!

Camera Phone so it probably records like at 15 FPS or less. I can this:

A game either runs at 100% speed or not at all. (though some GFX issues occur on PAL and certain titles)

And RE2 starts but freezes inside the police station. I think that has something to do with the pre-rendered backgrounds but I dont know.
