Can't wait for Virtua Tennis 3? The third title in Sega's tennis franchise hits the shelves exactly in a month from today. Here are more screens on the game showing just some of the features. There's a screen of the bowling mini game designed to improve serving, the Avalanche mini game with the giant tennis balls (a tennis player's nightmare), and doubles play both mixed and men's divisions. So what else can we expect from this upcoming title? Fans of the former Virtua Tennis titles would be happy to know that there are now 12 mini games, including the ones mentioned above. Also, who'd mind seeing their fave tennis players plus a chance to play beside them? Mark your calendars boys and girls, Virtua Tennis 3 will be smashing to the stores in March 20. See the rest of the screens after the jump! |

Virtua Tennis 3 for the PSP is looking great. The game being developed by Sumo Digital seems to have the same gameplay and feel like its bigger incarnations (Xbox 360 and PS3). You can see from the screenshots some of the more prominent names in tennis such as Maria Sharapova and Lindsay Davenport. Virtua Tennis 3 is to be released on March 23 in Europe, so for now, enjoy the screenshots. Click here to view the rest of the screens. |

Constantine Hantzoeoulos, senior producer from Sega of America talks about Virtua Tennis 3. Well, devs for this latest installment to the Sega tennis franchise followed the old adage "if it ain't broken, don't fix it."
So they kept all the good parts of the old game, the arcade feel and its casual gamer friendliness. So what's new with the game? An improved world tour mode, a bunch of new mini games (12 of them), four player WiFi (on the PSP), and a pocket leader board (also for PSP). According to him, the PSP version is simply the PS3 version, only smaller. Virtua Tennis 3 is just a couple of winks away, slated for release on March 20. |

IGN got to have a little chat with Virtua Tennis 3 producer Christopher Kaminski, and the details for the game are in no way little at all. Covering all grounds for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PSP versions, Kaminski served out the aces on the features, the downloadable content, and the controls, among many more other tidbits.
On the Xbox 360 version, he explains that it "will absolutely feature natively rendered graphics in 1080p." But of course, after all, they did develop this game, from the characters to the environments, specifically with the next-gen platforms in mind. And having VT3 on Microsoft's next-gen means that it's also gonna be up on Xbox Live. Exciting is how Kaminski describes the experience of playing it on Xbox Live. You can enter into tournaments or casually challenge people to a single match. I think what really makes the Virtua Tennis 3 online offering so interesting is the VT:TV feature. It's an enhanced version of spectator mode, which serves a couple of great purposes... Secondly, you have the ability to watch the matches of the top one hundred players world wide, or keep an eye on how any of your friends are doing in their matches. Moving on to Sony's Blu ray of sunshine, he says that it most certainly will feature motion sensing controls. In fact, they are very excited to use the console's SIXAXIS feature for this version. "It's quite cool to play an entire match of tennis without ever pressing a single button on the controller!" And what of the PSP? Will it essentially be just a lower-resolution version of the console title, or a completely different game, IGN wanted to know. And we're sure you do, too. So go ahead. The answer, along with the rest of the interview and screenshots, await after the jump. |

Coaches will do anything and everything just to make you a better player. They'll let you hit cans of coke, weed out a grassy lawn, and play barefoot if you have to. So it's no wonder that Virtua Tennis 3 comes up with another insane idea to make sure we make that smashing ace when we play the game.
Yes, here comes brainless fun in the most focused sport one could ever play. Witness the Pin Crusher on Virtua Tennis 3! It's much like bowling for tennis. You've got an enormous ball, which I don't know where you'll get a racket for, and some giant pins that you've got to knock down with some strong aces. The concept is quite simple and hilarious. Thank god the Williams sisters never suffer the humiliation of playing this in real life, but for sure it's all fun and games when it comes to Virtua Tennis 3. This bowling of sorts is just one of many hilarious side games that come with Virtua Tennis 3. So, are you ready to waste some time for this? In the spirit of fun, let's knock 'em down! |

Think you know everything there is to know about Virtua Tennis 3 (for PSP, PS3, Xbox360)? Well, can't really blame you there, what with all the game goodies we've brought you like the game's trailer and how VT3 uses the tilt controls. So what could we possibly be bringing you this time? The complete player lineup! Yeah yeah, you've seen tons of screens showing the players strutting their stuff. But for the tennis neophytes out there, some of them may not be able to recognize the virtual counterparts of their fave players. It is for the benefit of that minority that we bring you today the lineup of tennis players you'll be seeing in VT3 once the game hits the shelves real soon. Fellow blogger Tim Y. already brought you guys the players' pics just a while ago, and if you can't even recognize half of them, don't fret, here's the complete list of players to appear on VT3: Women:

Tennis was never a QJ writer's strong suit, that's usually why I personally prefer ballroom dancing instead: no hassles with flying objects and the only people screaming are my partners, whose toes I step on repeatedly.
Of course, in this job, we don't always have that choice. We always have to watch our faces and keep training, because we never know when Maria Sharapova can slap us good with that mighty backhand of hers. Worse still, we never know when giant tennis balls are going to come racing down the halls, begging for someone to smite them with a racket. Oh wait... did I say that out loud? Anyway, here's the latest trailer for Sega's upcoming smash hit for the Xbox 360, PSP, PC, and PS3, Virtua Tennis 3. Enjoy the video, and be ready for its release in the Q2 of 2007. |
