Virtual Tape Recorder

The hardworking coder, Art, from our forums has silenced all those that were thinking that he was moving away from the homebrew scene with the final release of X-Flash v15f, by once again updating one of his latest projects, the Virtual Tape Recorder for the PSP. The good developer is branching out with this app which uses Iteixeira">Iteixeira's audio library to record input from a PSP-compatible microphone to create an audio file. Unlike Iteixeira's PSP Memo Recorder, this has the ability to create an audio file on your memory stick instead of being stored in RAM.

This version fixes a bug in the last release which has something to do with the way fast forward and rewind buttons work, so if you had problems with yesterday's release, make sure you update to this version. Along with this release, Art would also like to add that his Nokia Boom headset modification works with this program, and that most PSP-compatible microphones should work with this, including the microphone that comes with Talkman - give it a try! Here's what's on Art's to-do list:
  • Add a nice GUI
  • Ability to play at normal speed in reverse
  • Extend recording time

 » WAV

Raw (snd,raw)
PCM signed 16bit little endian, mono

But just rename it from .dat to .wav and then you can work work with it in any audio program and save it to .mp3

 » Oops

"including the microphone that comes with Talkman"
bit of an error there.. in Aus our Talkman is a USB mic,
and it doesn't work with that as far as I'm aware.

I'd be interested in the quality attained from a line input.

can the microphone be modded to record "line in"? also, is there a psp wav editor? I want to record, and edit sampes with my psp and use them in a sequencing app like psp kick or psp rhythm

 » PSP keyboard

I don't see why someone couldn't hack up a keyboard for the PSP... either a usb keyboard, or keyboard through the absolutely unused IR port, *or* even easier, just two software programs... one to run on your computer that captures keystrokes on your home computer, and sends them via WIFI packets or USB, to be capture by the program on the PSP. Initially this could be integrated say into the shell of a linux distro, or a wordprocessor, until it was adopted by other ulitities to hook into it. I could only think having keyboard access to a PSP would speed development on the platform further in some way. einstein ~ rootpassword.com

1. There already is a IR Keyboard (beta-status AFAIK)
Why would keyboard support help the decelopment on the platform? Do you think that any programm is written on the PSP?

Anyone tested it with the Talkman mic?
