Void Team leaves PSP homebrew scene - Image 1A couple of days ago, we reported that homebrew developer Void Team is planning to come out with custom firmware 3.71 VE. The most promising thing about this particular build is that it will come with a 1.50 kernel, aside from other nifty features such as support for unofficial themes and special recovery mode.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Void Team posted an article over at their personal online blog saying that they are leaving the scene. Take note that these guys are Spanish and we can't give you their exact words.

But based from our limited Spanish understanding, they are leaving because the community doesn't appreciate CFW makers other than Dark AleX. A part of their heart-felt post reads (translated using an online language engine):

Because whenever somebody comes near to scene you throw a kick in the ass, in addition for people that we worked in the reverse engineer and we programmed is not nothing of the other world, which passes that people as we have much work.

And many projects and for that reason we were not interested in these things, and for once somebody is interested alaaaaa to call it of everything.

If you want to read the full article, you can refer to our Read link below. It should take you to Void Team's personal blog.

PSP Scene sucks now; has become wayy to popular.

 » I agree...

This is sooooo true...

Becus25 and others got treated my lepers
because of all the children or immature adults
that post only negatively about these Devs
attempts to give them more than just one
answer to hacking their PSP's yet gets hated
on for trying.

Iam and Justinrezario are just examples of
childish immature posters that have been
noted to have repeatedly bash such Dev's
for no reason what so ever.

These types of community members are the
worst and cause further damage to the scene
because they don't take the time to test an
app, they just bash the author.

Soon we might no longer have a HB community to
call our own because of such idiotic behavior.

QJ has proven not to care, otherwise they would
have already banned these disruptive members.

It's all a matter of respectability at the end of the
day. Treat others as you'd expect to be treated.

First posting and out right flaming is ridiculous.
Test the App and make a statement. If you don't want to test the app, then don't post about it.

Be responsible people for your own actions and
always remember to respect not only your fellow
members but the Dev's as well, without them
there would be no HB community.

sniff sniff its so sad the VOID team is leaving the Homebrew Scene.
people who benefit from homebrew should be sad.
you guys ought to be ashamed because you only praise Alex, and not appreciating what team VOID has shared with us homebrew abiders.

HEY VOID, GROW UP EMOTIONAL LOSERS.
Homebrew scene or community as we know it is a mutual relationship between people where the lucky ones with skill shares their successful experiments. DAX for example has hacked the psp and shared his Hard Labor. He announced retirement, lots of people grieved because we know DAX has the ability and the programs we liked to use, He is backed and now we are happy because we know we can have more great and wonderful programs and WE THANK Alex dearly for those. Everyone that also has worked Hard and shared it with us has our Respect too.

now about this leaving/coming back thing, its overused overhyped like halo. even if you had great programs that we loved announcing leaving/comingback to the scene is somewhat a cry for attention. you can just stop sharing programs, few will notice but nobody will really care because it your decision, its your call. its also like announcing, im/were gonna be a nobody again.

i have more reasoning but i guess i have given enough already. anyways make a name first before making a publicity.
   by urherenow - 2007-09-30
» the real reason (maybe it IS the same as yours)

is that they couldn't deliver, since DA didn't release the 1.50 patch yet the they are a bunch of no good posers. IF they had delivered on their promise (especially before DA made his release) then everyone would have welcomed them to the scene with open arms. Coming from nowhere and claiming to release something as complicated as a CFW, without ever releasing anything before... only an IDIOT would believe it.

If you can do it, just do it. Don't say you're going to before you're ready.

   Re: shuaib000 - 2007-09-30
» PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK

you got a point, that they should have at least released one CFW, however if we don't even encourage them, then why would they do a favour to us? I really don't understand why someone would do a favor to a person who criticizes them!?

Now the question is would you do a favour to them?

 » Exactly urherenow!

I really agree and believe that the Void Team were posers. Legit people walk the walk, THEN talk the talk if you know what I mean. If they want to gain the respect they gotta earn it. Anyone can say they're gonna do something. Devs. should also not take comments from idiots and childish morons so hard. They don't speak for the rest of us respectful and appreciative (the majority of us) members of the homebrew scene. We've come so far since the release of the PSP to just wither away and die off. The PSP has so much more potential and untapped powers.

Anyway, thanks to all who help the homebrew scene, and to all the jerks, thanks for NOTHING!!!

After that they attack DA like if DA himself made all the post...

We don't only appreciate DAX, for a start when DAX said he was quitting and M33 came along and made some CFW's and we really welcomed them into the scene. Of course, M33 is really DAX in disguise but at the time we didn't know that

 » so

Team Void are just throwing their toys out of the pram because they aren't getting the recognition they think they deserve. You have to gain respect, you don't just get it.
People don't shout fake if you can prove it isn't.

They announce a new CF and then days later say they aren't gonna play anymore. Now that either means they had no CF to show or it's a move to drum up more interest. Classic psychology.

Just ignore it, if they have this fabled CF then it will be released anyway. After a few days they will realise they aren't that good at anything else and skateboarding won't earn them money or make them famous, they'll soon be back. Same with all the developers that quit.

OK, i really don't agree if you go to a fie start hotel, what will you first expect, a nice welcome and so on.

Here, they entered the homebrew scene, how were they greeted? well i don't think the greeting was nice, and thats why they left. I don't think they deserve a dev like Dark_AleX or Void or AoP, or any developer if the majority of the scene will turn like the people who criticize devs for no reason AT ALL!

 » I creer up! 4 Them!

May be they were posers, may be they didn't, but sure is that the only appreciate CFW stuff here is the Dark_ Alex Stuff! 'm not cheering up only for Dark_Alex, I glad this guys make there announcement at first that they were releasing a new CFW, but they just felt depressed and decided to not do the CFW! This means that no body its going to develop any other CFW ? Because they think that DA its the Best! (well he has a good demand at PSP scene) But If they were real developers ( i'm not saying they not) They would make the CFW even better than the Dark_Alex & M33 CFW 3.71M33 ! I mean They had the master key of the progress " The 1.50 Kernel back at CFW PSP's " That were a great hit, but now its not, ot was all fake? I don't think so! I root for them , I root for team VoiD! I root for the Team M33! And Dark_Alex ! As equals! I think this CFW scne its a community of teams that make new CFW and it have to be challenging and each team has to face the other teams improvements and then keep going with something better or different! That what's all about community and union for the PSP Scene! Not for say, WHO IS THE BEST!!! I better than you! NO, NO , NO! Its for the PSP comunity! Team VoiD forget about what others say! I'm with you guys ( that doesn't means that I'm not with the M33 & Dark_Alex ) I'm for the PSP Scene and everything that comes for the PSP scene for goog I root for it! So Tean VoiD I believe in you guys! So keep going ! Don't forfeit now ! You guys can make a real Improvement on the PSP scene in the CFW scene! U guys have son Website or a blog so I can cheer fo r U guys! Don't trust in the influence , be yourselves I fyou guys wanted to make a CFW ! Well just make one! even its is for a satisfactory objective! And then you guys can say I made a great CFW! And I would say that CFW its awesome! This whole talkie talk! Here doesn't means that you guys are going to read it! And cheer up, and make the CFW, I know but I will cheer for you guys even for the courage that you guys face telling that you wanted to make a CFW and that you guys are not going! I know ! its the pressure, But don't be depressed ! i know that you guys Tean VoiD will continue on PSP scene somehow! And I will keep rooting for you guys! No matter what others thinks! And no matter if Dark_Alex CFW are famous or popular , yes I like them but... I like others CFW too! Yours sound and seems good for the PSP! So I keep up with my opinion! TEAM VoiD KEEP going! And good LUCK in every Decision you guys make! The PSP scene have to be on place! Well you guys can let the PSP scene disappear! No! I'm just wouldn't take it! So keep going CFW teams ! Its part of the PSP scene that Teans like you have stress, depression, afraid etc ! Thats part for this challenging effort you guys are doing! Well I stay with Team VoiD! ( Dark_Alex & M33 keep going too!) nOObZ too! Keep going! Team C+D too! Keep going! Every PSP developer here ! And in the Universe Keep going! The PSP scene Will keep going if you guys make it REAL! And we ppl uses it! And cheer up for them! HOMEBREWS keep going! Qj.net keep going! Every PSP user on the planet Keep going! I know this would change the things so much but That's how i felt and understand have to be the PSP community and The PSP scene ! It have to be United! Backing each others there backs! Don't let them fall! So they can keep going! A vortex of many problems its turning the PSP scene apart! But That can be fix if we have a little consideration, stop figthing each others about what's the most popular CFW or Homebrew ! And start to make deference! Take comments as opinion or critics ! That can improve something! Don't let them Kemp you down! Always believe in your basics! Valors ! and Rights! Well KEEP GOING PSP SCENE ! So u guys can make the difference! Which its good because , different doesn't means its lame or crap! It means that its original! So team VoiD I hope you guys keep workim=ng on that New CFW 3.71 VE It would be nice and cool of having that on the PSP scene! Thanks!

 » Sad all around.

This is sad all around. I know it feels good when people appreciate your work but it should be about personal goals first meaning that they should release the cfw for their happiness regardless of what people think, and people in time will give them for their work but for that you have to have patience because it can take time and many releases for people to notice you. On the other hand, they're not flaming D_A, they're just saying that people don't appreciate the effort that other coders make to try to make a cfw or program and because of that they're leaving.

» I agree with both sides...

In one way, the PSP scene has shown nothing but hatred for one another, especially when it comes to CFW. People shouting out about how M33 sucks vs. OE and so on, and then they all found out that its the same firmware :D I laughed so hard when I found out because I had been using m33 from day one and saw how good it was, while others were putting it down before ever trying it. But, I really couldn't believe team VOIP with their CFW and why they were leaving as they didn't show anything. You can't believe anything that any developer says unless they have a credible background. Remember that perfect n64 emulator that was supposed to come out, tweaked for each game individually? Turns out the guy was a sham and never actually created something. By team VOIP announcing they were going to release something, and then dropping out several days later, they only slapped their selves in the face. If they did have something made, they would have only got respect by releasing it. Instead, they took the low route, and quit because of a few negative comments... There's a bunch of people who will never be able to run a business...run when the first sign of people show negative criticism towards what their releasing. If all groups did that, nintendo, sony, and microsoft would be no more, because they get bad mouthed thousands of times a day by fanboys..

So here's the deal. You want to know why they left the scene? It's because they have no confidence. If I sit down and I start writing PSP applications or custom firmware's, I personally don't give a flaming dump about what other people think. I know that someone is going to see it and try it. If they don't like it they will tell me why because you don't say something on here without some discretion EVER. Everybody reports. There is no fame, and respect is earned. If they die out like flame on a candle then let them. I'd prefer to take my time and burn like a forest fire. Look at Dark Alex? When he "finally left" the scene (based on whether you believed it or not) it left everyone in distress. He didn't start putting out master applications. Everyone starts somewhere. Eventually work will progress, things will get better and people start paying more attention. By just saying, "Nobody cares, why bother, i'm leaving," you are straight up not even trying. But thats beside the point. Look at all the jackasses that put up applications that suck? I would never have use for homebrews like "PSPEXCEL" or "PSPIRC." Those producers start somewhere and keep releasing. You want to know what the most used homebrew I have is? PSPradio. That developer doesn't even update anymore. I think it's the greatest thing ever because I listen to music when I sleep and being able to just tune it to a station and pass out makes things so great. I know there are other options but I still use it because my music collection gets old. I may not want everything I hear, and i'd rather not have everything i've heard. I wish he'd come out with another version, correct a few bugs here and there but overall its by far so much better than anything out there other than emulators. I'm not running the new firmware by m33. I don't really need to. I know Dark Alex had a hand in it, just like he provided me with the 3.40 cfw a handful of months back. Rather than bashing someone who wants to make custom firmware for people to use, you could give suggestions on what you'd want in a firmware. These guys aren't going off magic. They make the basic firmware and expand upon it using the public forums as ideas. Void's doing the same thing. Honestly though they could grow some backbone and keep working on a release. I might use it instead. It could end up being better than the m33 cfw. They wouldn't know until they released it. Now they walk with tails tucked and nothing to show for it. What a shame.

So as I understand it if I tip QJ that I'm gonna make a completely new CFW 4.71 and photoshop a picture of the system software saying it's 4.71 and then two days later say I'm *leaving* the scene would QJ post an article about me too? Cuz if they will I want my two minutes of fame. I'm an attention whore yeah.

 » Makes me sick

Yea, the scene is filled with 12 year olds who like to latch on to a role model and demonize everyone else. That's going to happen. The PSP homebrew scene is not unique in this.

What these devs need to realize is that the scene is not entirely represented by these children. Believe it or not, there are people out there who appreciate every contribution and realize that the coding process is time consuming.

And even if that wasn't true, think about it: you're leaving an entire project because some children decided to heckle you. Find some self confidence for god's sake. You know what you're doing is worthwhile and so do the people who matter. So if the school bully hurt your feelings, fine. Seeya. We're better off without you.
