In developing the PlayStation 3 console, the device's latest iteration, Mr. Kutaragi went over budget on development costs without informing Mr. Stringer, according to a person familiar with the situation. When Mr. Stringer urged Mr. Kutaragi to have dinner with the heads of the electronics division, he did so just once a year, this person said. A spokeswoman for Mr. Kutaragi declined to comment. I don't care how legendary or historically successful a manager might be - if they are unable or unwilling to adapt to the culture, the vision you, as leader, have clearly communicated, they have to go. But not two years later, after the corrosive effect of doing things "their way" has already sunk in. Having a senior manager blame other groups for his group's woes? Raising concerns of investors, suppliers and customers alike? Unacceptable everywhere and at any time in any culture. |

This article is just mumbo jumbo to me.. QJ just keeps getting worse
I see your point. This was a direct copy of the Wall Street Journal. No wonder it doesn't make any sense. The only thing i understood was that they're blaming Ken Kutaragi for making the PS3 so damn expensive.
OoooooHhhhhhh BILLY!
bunny bunny in my tummy! Bunny Bunny oh so yummy!
And indeed, something's very wrong with Sony. Great gaming device though the psp is, they've gone wrong with the constant firmware updates, the stupid "It's like a nut you can crack and eat!" ads, the failed UMDs... and the list goes on and on.
They need smarter management, PRONTO. And long live homebrew!!!
Haha...mumbo jumbo....no wonder Sony can pull the wool over your eyes so easly...
Anyways, it's not a problem with stringer, if you have any reading comprehension QJ. It's a problem with Ken and being set in traditional Japanese ways. He probably still thinks he is running the entire company and that anything he say can and will go, without consultation with any of the other divisions, especially some dumb american, what would he know about running a japanese company ? So in making huge decisions without consulting heads of other divisions, he has put Sony in a worse position then it needs to be.....He thinks he is running an "empire" still, when sony has been split into a "republic" long ago....
Its not that i dont understand dip*****, it's that I come to this site to read about PSP UPDATES, not some ***** crap mentioned in this article. I simply don't have the time or patience to read a a hundred lines of worthless crap which won't do me, or the modding community any good.If QJ can't find anything worthwhile to post, why post at all?
Find a new site. I think the topic sums up the article. Your fault if you can't read well enough to get the gist of the article within a few seconds.
Couldn't be Stringer's problem. Many of Sony's other divisions have increased revenues and have literally held the game division on their shoulder. And who was managing the PS3? Ah-so! It's Kutaragi! But whatever, his ass is set on the side lines, and Wed. is going to be nothing but good news for the PS3. Or atleast we all hope...
Castrate him!!
This is what I've been saying all along!
You act like I make s*it up.
Ken ruined any chance of the PS3 being a contender this generation. From the stupid s*it he says, his insistance on blu ray, not communicating with other divisions, losing exclusives the PS3 could have had, it's like he's trying to ruin playstation. I'm not sure why the PS3 is selling in Japan. I guess it's brand loyalty, which MS will have to keep working on. It's just a name people! Buy whatever product that delivers results, not promises.
The PS3 is selling better everywhere because it is a BETTER CONSOLE than that piece of crap you play called the Xbox360.
