After Ahman abandoned IRShell, we definitely need someone to take up the slack and make a decent shell that rivals IRShell. I'm glad PirataNervo is up to the challenge. Thanks for your hard work and and I hope to see more and more revisions from you in the future.

I voted for this, so the least Pirata could do now is let the picture viewer view pics over 512px in height/width, and add a slideshow....

Thanks for voting :) and it has a slide show option.
When viewing a picture, press START, it should open a window, press X to start/end the slide show.

I don't understand why this won. It's a shell that offers nothing new. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but can this thing do ANYTHING different that the normal XMB can't do? Change CPU to 333? Can already do that. View photos? Sonys is better, Music? Sonys is better, web browse? Sony's is built in. View movies? No, it can't even play movies. Built in note-pad? Nope, maybe that's why this shell wins. It has a built in notepad or something.
...And that's not even comparing it to IRShell.

Next time there's a contest, I expect you to submit an entry that does more than this.

» I would have to agree with tlgh...
Not out of personal vendetta, but seriously, what does this add? What is new and unique about this that can really add to our homebrew experience? And yes FreePlay, I do believe my entry "did more than this". My app really delivers an experience that is unique.
Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not just venting how mad I am and being a sore loser. I'm really not mad or surprized at all. I've lost contests before. It's not a talent contest. It's a popularity contest.

It's come along way from it's last version, and you should look at the planned changes on the suggestion forum for NervOS.
Yes it does everything that the XMB does, but it also has a file browser, supports zip files, and animated GIF's (which the sony's xmb does not do.)
And he is not just shortcutting everything to sony code, as I understand he has coded all the functions for it. Within 1 or 2 more releases it will do everything IrShell did and more. Nervo already said on the maxconsole forum that it was not better than IrShell, but that he's working on getting there, give the guy a freaking break, I would say his coding thus far deserves the measly $300 he did it for.

Fourmyfriends, thank you for the response, that's what I was talking about. See, I did not know it unzipped and supported .gifs.
As for Freeplay. Dude, honestly shut up. Does anyone value your opinion anymore, do you even? It was a contest where people submit their work for a prize, I do not submit anything, therefore I don't get the prize, so just because I didn't see the point in this winning, doesn't mean I should have to submit something better. That's like saying if you go see a movie and you walk out of the theater disappointed you're not allowed to say "That movie sucked," unless you film something better. Freeplay, if your comment was anything like fourmyfriends, I wouldn't have totally smashed you--like everyone else has when you make stupid points.

You're complaining about who won a contest that you didn't enter. Why the hell do you even care?

Freeplay, my God, no one can be this blunt. I already gave you an example of why your argument is stupid, but leave it to you to respond with it twice.

It's not about what it can't do, it's about what it can. So it doesn't do much different from IRShell, but IRShell is a massive beast. The fact that PirataNervo built something damn near the equvalent to IRShell from scratch alone makes it deserving of this award. That's not even taking in to account what NervOS will be in the future.

» The RESULTS WOULD HAVE.....
The RESULTS will be DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT IF QJ, gets rid of every USER Registered JUST TO VOTE and unregistered users votes. That will show what's been happening beneath the cover.

This stands as a perfect example of why online voting system SUCKS! I have been posting this concern SINCE THE BEGINNING of the contest!

Congratulation Pirata Nervo. I think your homebrew is better than mine and than all the others. Nice work!
Online voting system sucks, but in this case I think nobody released a revolutionary homebrew, and so only NervOS could win, because it was the best and the most famous work.
And thanks for my second place ;)

Thank you for choosing my shell, I am very happy because this is the first homebrew competition I have won.
Congrats to everyone who entered also, every homebrew entered took time to make and that's enough for me to say congratulations.
About NervOS's features (TheLastGuitarHero), it does unrar, unzip, "un7z", it has an adhoc file transfer, it can view bmp's , gif's (animated too), png, jpeg, it plays wav's, mp3, ogg, aa3 and flac. It plays ISOs and CSO's for course, runs UMD's, plays PSX games, you can launch the Sony Web Browser from NervOS too. it has a calculator and you can have up to 3 users using NervO with different configurations. If you want to know more, check the Wiki (www.consoleworld.net/nervos)
@dazmo, about no one liking free play, I do like him. Not because of his work but mostly because of how he acts as moderator. I don't want to argue with you about this as I don't think it is needed, I am just pointing my thoughts.
Once more, Thank you everybody.
Note: the online voting sucks but besides that I think everything went well.

I voted for NervOS not for what it is, but for what it aspires to become. The contest doesn't matter... what matters is that it takes time to do what Pirata Nervo is trying to do and he has continuously improved the shell on a regular basis. The contest is over and he is still working on his shell in hopes of not only filling the hole that Ahman left behind, but even surpassing what Ahman did with IRShell.
I, for one, am very excited to see what's in store for future updates. So thank you for your hard work Pirata Nervo. And to reiterate... you deserve the prize just as anyone who put their time and full effort into coding a homebrew for this contest would have deserved it had they won.
Keep in mind that these people are what makes having CFW worth it and without their inovation, time and devotion to the scene, most of us would have shoved our PSPs in a drawer long ago.
