A lot of people got pretty excited about WipEout Pulse, the next installment in the popular WipEout franchise. We promised to update you guys as soon as we got more info on this title, and so here are some details about WipEout Pulse.

According to Eurogamer, there will be 24 reversible circuits and seven game modes (including a Training section) in this PSP game. There will be eight new in-game racing teams, and there's also a new element called the "Mag-Strip" which temporarily locks ships to the surface of the track. You'll need it, too, as it allows level designers to include some sick loops and vertical drops.

New ships and weapons will also be making an appearance, and gamers will be able to blast their enemies off the tracks while listening to new licensed music from Mason, Loco Dice, Stanton Warriors, and others. If that's not your kind of music, you can also listen to mp3s stored in your Memory Stick while you play.

Multiplayer's a go, and players will be able to race against their friends through ad hoc and infrastructure modes. WipEout Pulse also has a Photo Mode so players can take some screenshots of their ships and post them online.

As for Downloadable Content">downloadable content, Eurogamer says that according to Sony, there are already some stuff being lined up both for the video game's September launch and afterwards. These will include new tracks, ships, and music. For now, check out the new screenshots scattered around this post.

I can't wait for this game to come out:D But too bad the ships on those screens look kind of low poligon, low texture, worse than in Pure. I hope this gets fixed. But the tracks themselves look sick:D

Me need this game:P

yeah was gonna say... was hoping for a bit more detail in the ships this time round given that developers have had more time to bring out the power of the system... heres hoping it'll end up being the kickass game i hope it'll be.

Yeah i look forward for this game. But the "regional" downloads in wipeout pure sucked soooo much.... we never got those fancy japanese tracks. why? why? whyyy?

the Japanese tracks were actually just the european/us Delta-tracks with different branding. And believe me, there was just TOO MUCH branding, so you didn't miss anything without them :)

 » wow.

reminds me of no gravity. and i love the idea of listening to your own music during the game. (finally a game that does that other than NFS: Carbon which only allows you to listen in the main screen.) but still kinda useless because i can already do that with my custom firmware. :D ( i love my 3.03 OE-C firmware!!! makes people jelous)

Wipeout already has some awesome music, but this is exactly what I've wanted form games! No need for a buggy prx now! No stupid gta converter either! woot

This is good news! At last, AT LAST infrastructure multiplayer. The Gravity mag-strip thing should be fun too, I've been wondering for some time why they wouldn't add some loops and walls and top-side-down parts in tracks.

The only thing I'm concerned about is this reverse tracks thing, and as HaohmaruHL said, I really hope they don't screw up the ramps and jumps, and I really hope it doesn't end up like a portable FZero 64 T_T

Being able to listen to our own mp3 is always a good thing, but Wipeout usually provides very good stuff on its own. I'd say it's not of first priority.

The pics are high-res antialiased rendered. That's why they seem so low-poly.

Looking forward to playing with you guys online :)
