i'm a noobie, but i think writing to flash is ALWAYS dangerous. That has nothing to do with a restore function. In my opinion it's possible to save the Flash1 with e. g. FileAssistant and write it back afterwards to restore to default, but it is a dangerous step. If the files are corrupted, or your PSP turns off while copying, you risk to brick your console. Please forgive my spelling and correct me, if it didn't make any sense.

I'm not a newbie, I'm an electrical engineer, and bottom line is flashing *is* dangerous. That's why so many flashable devices have a backup device. Even if this program is rock-solid, things like a power surge or power outage can mess it up. On top of that, flash devices can typically only be flashed a certain number of times until they "wear out." That number is in the 10s of thousands, but this isn't a hard drive. You flash your device, you risk bricking it, end of subject.

You said sometimes, that does not mean everytime :) Everyone should decide himself, if it's worth to risk bricking our holy psp for some other fonts or skipped movies. In my view you should think twice and after that play around with mph's firmware launcher :) flashing IS always a dangerous process (i failed some xbox flashes and had to build my own chip-flash-device to repair)
