Here's X-Flash!

As you might have picked up from the post a few days back, Art came up with version 16 of his X-Flash program. One of the notable things to come with the latest version is support for 1.50 and 2.71 SE-B firmwares. Version 16B adds some cosmetic functions for those folks who wanted to get debranded stuff, but retains all of the PSP goodness X-Flash has to offer.

To save you the trouble of reading my gibberish, let's get the info straight from the source. Just remember: X-Flash is probably the most stable app for this particular kind of job, but you might still do something you'll regret to your PSP. Use at your own risk, and don't forget to check the readme.

New for X-Flash V16b:
  • Wave Effect Removed from opening intro screen as well as XMB menu. (firmware version 2.71 SE)
  • Debranded Coldboot intro screen. (firmware version 2.71 SE)
  • Debranded Gameboot movie. (firmware version 2.71 SE)
  • Plain Black Gameboot Movie. (firmware version 2.71 SE)
Currently Supported for 2.71 SE:
  • Debranded Coldboot Intro screen.
  • Debranded Gameboot screen,
  • Disable XMB Menu Wave Effect, and Coldboot Intro Wave Effect
  • Custom Monthly Backgrounds, including Plain Black Backgrounds.
  • Custom Font (sample font included is now the ASCII font).
  • Disable Network Update Icon functionality.
  • Custom Name Plate picture (Easter Egg "Art" name plate is disabled in 2.71 SE since only basic name plate pictures work).
  • Firmware Dump (At least 21 Mb free space required for 2.71 SE).
  • Registry Backup and Restore Tool.
  • Custom Gameboot movies.
Currently Disabled for 2.71 SE:
  • XMB Menu Label editor.
  • Firmware Version Spoofers.
  • Coldboot and XMB sounds (may be fixed in a later version).
  • Plain Black PSP About Screens (may be fixed in a later version).
  • Some Easter Eggs won't work because they rely on version spoofs, detailed name plate picture, etc.
COMING SOON for X-Flash V16c:
  • Custom Coldboot Opening Sound (firmware version 2.71 SE)
  • Custom Coldboot Opening Sound with Echo Effect (firmware version 2.71 SE)
  • Built in Air Wrench Coldboot Opening Sound  (firmware version 2.71 SE)
  • Delete Coldboot Opening Sound  (firmware version 2.71 SE)
  • Apply Built in Custom XMB Click Sound (firmware version 2.71 SE)
  • Apply Built in Custom XMB Error Sound  (firmware version 2.71 SE)
  • Improved Plain Black Gameboot movie (black movie from V16b sometimes pixelates with 2.71)

Thanks to Appleseed629 for the tip. You truly are the apple of our eye. :)

 » Too bad...

Too bad no one can freaking make a REVISION for DevHook, I'm sure it really isn't that hard, I'd do it if I knew coding...

 » Omg.

Kind of a useless release to me but thanks, Art. Glad to see you're keeping up the work on X-Flash.

A devhook revision will come out after Boosters Sony troubles go away and the PS3 compatible firmware update (the one with the PS1 Emulator) comes out, and no, it's not that hard for an experienced coder like Booster to make the revision, what is hard however, is to crack the firmware and then implement it and make it usable.

What 8 hour text editor are you talking about? 0okm's TA-082 downgrade method? If so the only one who knows how to do that is 0okm, and once a TA has been downgraded to 1.5 it bricks if you try to upgrade. Besides 0okm stopped doing that downgrading.

No, nothing currently works on 2.82. READ and SEARCH noob they're two very useful things to know how to do.

sorry i ment the "XMB Menu Label editor" its called like the 6,7 or 8 hour text editor or something in art's lastest flash for 1.5 users and i just read that it was disabled in this version so my bad sorry about that jrfoutx
   by jrfhoutx - 2006-11-08
 » oh.

No, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off rude I guess I was confused. No I think that currently for 2.71SE the menu label editor is disabled cause art hasn't gotten it working properly (someone correct me if I'm wrong) I think it bricks. Try searching the forums to see if there's a thread about editing the 2.71SE menu (not really my thing I kinda like Sony's XMB).

   Re: axelixc - 2006-11-09
» It's called hex editor not text editor

as i've mentioned earlier in the previous post, the 2.71 se-b menu label editor is based on a system file called sysconf_plugin.rco in flash0. this file is same as the 2.71 original fw but is very diff from 1.50. it has a diff encryption code. so no way using the 1.50 technique n put into x-flash v16b. it will confirm brick

no problem dude dont worry about it. its cool you like sony's XMB im all about custom so every thing in my psp is custom thats why its still 1.50 but yeah i think you got it down flat with the bricking of the psp.

 » sorry

sorry noob, I need to correct my previous statement. No this won't work on 2.82, but I believe there is a small amount of homebrew (no loaders like HEN-C, DevHook, or the like). I believe there is a very limited number of homebrew games for 2.82 (sorry I don't keep track of anything other than 2.71SE, except downgrading).
