X-Flash

Despite there being a rumor about Dark_AleX's OE-B already being in progress, the rest of the homebrew dev mainstays are still trying to catch up with his highness' OE-A custom firmware release. Take Art for example. His X-Flash application that lets you tweak your firmware to allow some XMB quick fixes and edits is pretty much a well-welcomed homebrew among PSP users. Today, he's come up with an update for it.

The biggest item on the changelog is that Art's been able to add more firmware support. Here's the full changelog for X-Flash v18i:
  • Added support for Dark_AleX 3.03 OE-A' firmware version. (Also known as 3.03 OE-A2)
  • Removed support for Dark_AleX 3.03 OE-A firmware version.
To check out the individual features that are supported for a certain specific firmware, Art's posted a useful chart over at our forums (link below).

Reminder: this application writes to Flash and could potentially brick your PSP if not used correctly. Please check the readme file for more information.

Art usually releases a new X-flash rev a few days after a new firmware, (though Art is working now so it may take longer)

 » Funny story

Well, I upgraded to 3.03 OE-B half an hour ago, then used X-Flash to apply plain black backgrounds to OE-B (genius, right?) this led to a partial brick, when the XMB would not load, and only recovery mode worked. Thank Dark_AleX it worked. So I tried the 1.50 update, the 2.70 update, and the 2.71 update, and none worked. By this time I was scared, so i tried the 2.00 update. (Had to get it from psp-hacks.com, not on DL.QJ.net) So, I couldn't see the text, but guessed my way through teh update, and successfully "updated" to 2.00 from a partial brick. I then used LocoRoco to update to 2.71 (i'm lazy), and am now about to downgrade to 1.50, then up to 3.03 OE-A, then OE-B again. Moral: Don't use X-Flash on unsupported versions.
