Happy encoding!

Winnydows has come up with another update to his popular video encoding application, XviD4PSP. XviD4PSP 4.048 RC6 adds protection from hi or low audio bits, as well as support for files run on a framerate of 15 fps.

For those of you who are new to this and haven't heard of XviD4PSP, it's an app which you can use to convert your favorite videos into an optimal format for PSP viewing. Of course, since it's an all-purpose video converter when you think about it, you can use it to convert videos into a format of your choice other than the one that goes with your PSP. It's also easy to use, and friendly to newcomers, so you shouldn't be afraid to try this app out.

In the meantime, you may need to download the latest .Net framework to get it to run, else you might encounter some problems. Don't hesitate to bring a query up on our forums as well, just in case you run into some unexpected problems. Enjoy!

Even if I install the latest .net framework, it doesn't work...and seems like I'm not the only one complaining.

 » What's the problem?

It works fine for me.

What errors are you getting?

FFMPEG related ones? You don't actually need FFMEG to be installed, despite what the docs suggest.

If you post your errors here I'll try and help. It's a good program and it works without problems for me.

 » it won't even start

Progams performs an illegal operation and won't even "start"
No, the problem isn't .NET framework.

Tested in 2 PC's so far, same result.

» Can't get it to work

I love this program, but have not been able to get it to encode VOB files since 4.0.4.8 RC2. Ever since the addition of choosing the audio decoder, I can't get it to work. I always get a message saying something about VTS_01_02 not a valid AC3 file (or something to that effect), gives as an avs error and quits. Always give the same error for the same VTS, regardless of different DVDs and regardless of program used to rip to HD. Oh well, RC2 works fine for me and I'll stick with it until I figure out what I'm doing wrong.

» IT crashes on me somewhere random

I can get the thing to work, on 1 or 5 min encodes, but if I try and do a whole vid file of say 1hr40 it crashes at some point and reboots the pc. I'm going to see if I can catch the error when I've got another spare hour to waste. 1 time it was 1/2 way through the muxing stage, the other time didnt make it that far.

 » Join the club!

As much as I would love this program to do its thing, I too get nothing but errors and mine are even explained. I drop a file and get "Sorry, errors". I gave up. I use the 3GPConverter port for 480 x 272 that was put out a few days ago. It takes a while, especially on two pass but it rears wonderful results (and the most important part is that it actually works).

Anyone know of a way to display anamorphic widescreen on 3.03OE-B? All I can play correctly is 4:3 and 16:9, unfortunately though...many of my favorite movies are anamorphic widescreen.

» trying too much i think

I'm not dissing him and I dont think anyone else is. I've tried this app in the past and it worked around 4.0.3.3 mark. But when you keep getting the 'Sorry Errors' error. It should at least tell you what it is, and maybe you can install/fix it.

It's a comdendable piece of work and the author should be congratulated for is work. I think it's an app trying to do too much.

 » RC7

4.0.4.8 RC7 is out, and it seems to have corrected the script errors I was having...encoding a DVD to PMP AVC right now. Here is a link to the author's website, excellent program, glad this new one works for me and hopefully for the rest of you who have had problems:

» where did you get RC7?

I'm running RC8, but can't find RC7 anywhere. Since RC8 seems to give me the same problem (and apparently the same problem you had) as before, I'm wondering if there's something else going on? Does anybody have suggestions?

Thanks

 » whats the deal

I get this error when trying to convert. I have upgraded to the newest update and still get this:

Found errors in AVS script. Recomended check settings and script text (Edit AVS).

Any ideas?

 » YES!

Hey!! everyone who is getting errors after launching the program after installation, you have to first install the 4.0.4.7 version! these are just updates. and this whole time i thought it was the *****in framework too!

I think you can get it here: http://www.winnydows.com/index.html

 » Nope, not working--but....

This program would be really great if it could convert a DVD to PSP for the newly opened 480X272. I get the same error ebega does; that is, I keep getting a message saying that VTS_01_02 is not a valid AC3 file. Mine also gives the reason that it is an avs error and quits.
However, I was able to convert a single VOB file. I was testing a single chapter ripped from a DVD to see if it would work. It did, but I think the only reason is because there was no VTS_01_02 to generate the error. Once this specific error is fixed, this will be a great program. The single chapter looks great on the PSP, and it gives me the option to watch it in windowed, Zoom (filling the PSP screen) and Fullscreen (letterboxing and aspect ratio preserved).
I really hope Winnydows is able to correct the error soon. But even on update 4.038 RC8, there is no such luck so far....

Looking forward to hearing more,

--SAM
