Silver

A while ago, Nintendo released the Onyx Black and Pearl Pink DS Lites. Sony then followed suit by announcing the Pink PSP. Now they're showing off a new Silver PSP as well! Previously set for Europe only, the Pink PSP will be coming to Japan as well. Alongside it will be the new Silver PSP shown off for the first time.

Sony also had a few other PSP colors on show, but they were merely prototypes. They had displays of red, blue, yellow, and even "camouflage" PSPs! All the displays were a "see and no touch" affair. The displays themselves were very nice though. Sony wanted to show people they haven't completely forgot about their handheld during all this PS3 hype.

Power Stone Collection
is on show at the Tokyo Game Show right now and Capcom is even allowing people who visit to download a playable demo! For those who don't know, this game is a collection of the two Power Stone games for the Dreamcast. It's a frenetic brawler that's perfect for parties! The PSP version will feature multiplayer via wireless ad-hoc mode.

Arcade mode in Power Stone is a single-player campaign in which you face off against CPU controlled opponents to unlock secrets. The secrets include (but aren't limited to) weapons, characters, galleries, and additional modes. Versus mode allows you to play against a friend in head to head wireless play. Multiplayer in Power Stone is limited to two players.

The PSP version has a new user interface that features an improved health bar and radar system. The most welcome addition is the appearance of four new characters in Power Stone 2. That's right, the four additional characters in Power Stone 2 are playable in Power Stone/

The Tokyo Game Show is coming up and Bandai Namco has announced what titles they'll be showing at Japan's biggest gaming event! Many of their biggest franchises will be at the show so there's a bit of something for everybody. Bandai and Namco are merged, but we'll list their titles by which company is developing it.

PlayStation 3Logo
Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight (Bandai)
Ridge Racer 7 (Namco)

PlayStation 2
Battle Stadium D.O.N. (Bandai)
.hack//G.U. Vol.2 (Bandai)
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (Bandai)
Captain Tsubasa (Bandai)
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure: Phantom Blood (Bandai)
Naruto: Konoha Spirits (Bandai)
Digimon Savers: Another Mission (Bandai)
Rider Kabuto (Bandai)
Gundam Seed Destiny: Rengou vs Z.A.F.T. II Plus (Bandai)
Tales of Destiny 2 (Namco)

PlayStation Portable
Gundam: Battle Royale (Bandai)
Gunpey-R (Bandai)
Tales of Phantasia: Full Voice Edition (Namco)
Ridge Racer 2 (Namco)
Bounty Hounds (Namco)
Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception (Namco)
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology (Namco)

Nintendo DS
Tamagotchi: Corner Shop 2 (Bandai)
Gintama DS: Yorozuya Daisoudou (Bandai)
Gunpey-R (Bandai)
Tales of the Tempest (Namco)

GameCube
Battle Stadium D.O.N. (Bandai)

Xbox 360
Culdcept Saga (Bandai)
Mobile Suit Gundam: Operation: Troy (Bandai)
The Idol Master (Namco)
Trusty Bell (Namco)

Took quite some time to get all that from Japanese into English! Bandai Namco is just churning out title after titles, especially titles with "Gundam" and "Tales of" in their names! According to this list, they aren't showing any of their Wii games. Weird considering the PS2 version of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi is being shown. Guess it won't make launch after all.

Chart

That graph you see above (click the thumbnail) has been put together by Square2005 of NeoGAF. What is it? It's a chart tracking the sales progress of all handhelds since 2001! If you want to see a visual version of how the DS and PSP are stacking up to the GBA or even the N-Gage (Yay N-Gage!) then you've got all you need! You just gotta love those spikes in December!

It starts off at the launch of the Game Boy Advance in June 2001 and goes up to the month that we last received sales data for, August 2006. In their lifetime, the consoles have done these numbers:
  • Game Boy Color - 17,050,000
  • Game Boy Advance ~ 13,730,000 (numbers not counted in recent months)
  • Game Boy Advance SP + Game Boy Micro - 18,340,000
  • All Game Boy Advance models combined: 32,027,000
  • Nintendo DS - 5,837,000
  • PlayStation Portable - 5,022,000
  • N-Gage ~ 60,000
Poor, poor N-Gage. The GBA SP, DS, and PSP are still selling over a hundred thousand units a month! It's a great time to be a handheld gamer. Unless you're a Nokia fanboy of course...

Rockman

Capcom has announced its lineup for the Tokyo Game Show, which includes mostly heavy hitting games from their major franchises. Check out the list:
Is that Gyakuten Saiban 4 on the list? Why yes, it is! For those who don't know, that's the fourth game in the Phoenix Wright series, although it will likely become the Ace Attorney series once the game finally hits North America. Interestingly, it seems that the protagonist is no longer Phoenix.

PSP fans should also be happy about all the support their getting as well. Power Stone Collection especially is making former Dreamcast owners giddy with excitement. The next gen people will be getting quite a treat with Devil May Cry 4 and Lost Planet. It seems that Capcom is making sure TGS is good for gamers.

Nippon Ichi PlayStation Project

Nippon Ichi, the creators of Disgaea and a ton of other SRPGs, has opened up a teaser site for an upcoming game. It looks like the game will be revealed in Dengeki PlayStation. This obviously means that the new game will be on a PlayStation platform. Chances are that it's a ps2">PS2 game or maybe a PSP game. However, we can't rule out the possibility that it's on the PS3! Then again, Sony may want HD in all the games and that's not exactly something Nippon Ichi is interested in...but still, anything is possible.

The magazine will be revealed on September 8th. We don't know who exactly the two characters in the image are. The game is almost definitely an SRPG though since Nippon Ichi is most well-known in that particular genre.

Madden 92

Madden NFL 07
has become the fastest-selling Madden game in history. In its first week of release, the game sold over two million copies! This is, of course, counting all platforms and all editions of the game. If you average it out amongst the GameCube, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation2, PlayStation Portable, GBA, PC, Xbox 360 Hall of Fame Edition, and PlayStation2 Hall of Fame Edition versions (poor NGage), the game averages to about 200,000 copies per console sold. And that's A LOT.

This number is further supported by last week's Best Buy top games chart:

1. Madden NFL 07 (PS2)
2. Madden NFL 07 (360)
3. Madden NFL 07 (XBX)
4. Madden NFL 07: Hall of Fame Edition (PS2)
5. Madden NFL 07: Hall of Fame Edition (360)
6. Madden NFL 07 (PSP)
7. Madden NFL 07 (GCN)
8. Dead Rising (360)
9. Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day (NDS)
10. New Super Mario Bros. (NDS)

Go Go America! The 7 Maddens and Dead Rising knocked down Brain Age and Mario down after spending months at the top two slots! I wonder how the Canadian, Australian, and European charts look? For those wondering, last week's Japan Top 10 had 10 DS games with Final Fantasy III in the #1 slot with over 500,000 copies sold in five days.

MGS PO

EB Games, GameStop, and GameCrazy are currently running a pre-order promotion for Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. This game  will be a full-fledged entry in the Metal Gear Solid series unlike Metal Gear AC!D. The bonus will be an MGS-themed PSP case. From the looks of it, it's not a soft cover but an actual hard case!

EB and GameStop currently have the game set for December 1st, but that's likely just a placeholder. We'll have more on this game as it's revealed. With so many people saying they might pick up a PS3 once Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is released, you can't help but wonder if the PSP sales will receive a boost once Portable Ops is released!
