Toggle USB Flash2/3 - Image 1

From the same PSP homebrew developer who brought us Custom Firmware 1.62 IE-D, comes Toggle USB Flash2/3 special system. The brains behind this, becus25, mentioned that "with this tool you can access via usb the Flash2 or 3 drive of PSP". Aside from that, you could also have access to the drive on read/write files mode and you could use this to toggle the memory stick.

The homebrew application does not come with a readme, but installation and usage is simple enough. To install, all you have to do is copy the files to the PSP Game (Game150 if you're using Custom firmwares) folder. As for the usage, here goes:

  • Press X to toggle USB (flash 2)
  • Press O to toggle USB (flash 3)
  • Press square to toggle USB (memory stick)
We hope to hear from becus25 in the coming days, and hopefully, he would make the necessary improvements on this homebrew application. Here's the download link, folks! To know more about becus25's PSP projects, head on over to his site by clicking on our source link below.

Exophase made GBA a possibility on the PSP - Image 1 The last time we talked about PSP homebrew developer Exophase was way back in January. After he released gpSP v0.9 for the PSP and after we cleared up the air about the Exophase-Takka gpSP snafu, we have not heard a lot from this amazing developer.

But now, PSPBrew was able to have a short chit-chat with Exophase himself and he talked about gpSP development, StrmnNrmn, and other personal tidbits.

The interview conducted by DarkPacMan77 started with the more personal questions such as Exophase's actual name (Gilead) and his age (23 years-old). Exophase also divulged that he started coding "around 10 years ago" and that he can't really explain why he started coding. He was then asked if he and Daedalus creator StrmnNrmn are working on something and this is what he said:

To be honest I rarely get to talk to him. I've tried but he isn't really around, at least nowhere I am. I give him various ideas sometimes but he hasn't really gotten back on most of them.

Well, as Exophase mentioned in the interview, StrmnNrmn is a busy guy. But even if they aren't collaborating on something, we are still free to imagine how great that Exophase-StrmnNrmn team-up would be. The interview also tackled Exophase's hardships during the development of gpSP. Development is not something that's easy as pie and the dev mentioned that just getting gpSP "off the ground wasn't very easy." He added, "And more than anything I've had to go through dozens of hours of debugging in an effort to get various games working."

Duck-hunt v0.2 - Image 1 Duck-hunt v0.2 - Image 2

PSP homebrew developers jojodu0010 and marc6310 have released v0.2 of their homebrew game Duck-hunt. Basically, you use the analog stick (or the d-pad, whichever you prefer) to aim and X to shoot - you get 35 points if you shoot the faster yellow bird, 20 points if you hit the red duck, 10 points for annihilating the blue duck, and -10 points if you shoot the black ducks. The game is so simple, you wouldn't even notice that the entire game is in French. Here's the changelog for Duck-hunt version 0.2:

  • graphic improvements
  • creating cheat codes now possible
  • added audio and analog stick controls
  • improved RAM management
  • you now have the option to aim using the analog stick or the d-pad
  • addition of game summary at the end of the game
Duck-hunt version 0.2's graphics and design were taken care of by marc3610. It comes in two versions - one for PSPs using firmware 1.50 and one for those who are using 3.xx OE. So with all that said, here are the download links. Enjoy!

Hot Brain - Image 1

A few days ago, Midway's Jerry Huber gave us the 411 on Hot Brain's features. We know now that the game would have five different challenge categories: Math, Logic, Memory, Concentration, and Language. Now, we have some screens of the game that would show off the Math and Logic portions. Check them out:

If those screens didn't help you decide if you'll buy the game, then we suggest you to take a good, hard look at some of Hot Brain's gameplay videos that we covered a few weeks back. This PSP game from Midway is set to come out on June 18 for the U.S., while Europeans could begin measuring their brains' temperatures on June 28.

  • Fixed the load (you were able to load to level 1 even when slot was empty)

Blocks that Fall v1.2 - Image 1 Blocks that Fall v1.2 - Image 2

Before you dismiss this as another Tetris PSP homebrew game, try it out first - this game developed by Ville Helin shows a lot of promise. Anyhow, the game is called Blocks that Fall and it is now on version 1.2. Since this is the first time we featured this game, here are the controls:

  • Press start to start the game and pause it
  • Press down to quick drop the block
  • X rotates the block
  • Press select to toggle SFX and music on and off
  • The shoulder, square and circle buttons rotate the view for extra challenge. Triangle button resets the view rotation.
So if you aren't familiar with the keys, don't be surprised if the view changes from time to time. Anyhow, here's Blocks that Fall v1.2's changelog:
  • Compressed the tile texture using inflateTT-MP v1.2
  • The background color becomes brighter when you get a new hi score
  • Added icon and background that are shown in the PSP game menu
  • Added SFX (press select to toggle SFX and MP3 on and off)

Destroy the teletubies PSP homebrew game - Image 2 Destroy the teletubies PSP homebrew game - Image 1]

If you've never been a fan of Dipsy, Tinky Winky, Laa-Laa, and Po collectively known as the Teletubbies and you cringe every time they appear in their Tubbytronic Superdome, then PSP homebrew developer poloderomo may have a little fixer-upper for you. Over at PSPGen, poloderomo released what appears to be his first PSP homebrew game - Destroy the teletubies.

The title of the game gave it away right? It's simple, all you have to do is shoot Laa-Laa as she tries to hide from you. To aim, use the analog stick, to shoot press X. She hides from one place to another so you better be a fast shooter if you wanna annihilate her. It's so simple that you wouldn't mind that the game is in French.

The download below contains two versions of Destroy the teletubies - one for PSPs with firmware 1.5 and one for PSPs using OE firmware. Kudos to poloderomo and enjoy the download!

EvilMana TileEditor - Image 1Homebrew developer for the PSP, PSPMillionaire from EvilMana, has passed by our forums to tell us about the release of his new project - the EvilMana TileEditor. He says that for now, the editor isn't of any use but he is posting this first build. He said that each addition for the EvilMana Tile Editor "will result in a new build being added and uploaded". Here are features of this new release:
  • 16x16 Tiles removed for now due to technical issues with this size
  • Resolution added when creating New Map. Adjusts the display size of map.
  • Exporting of a lua map added
  • Exporting of scrolling lua maps added. Exports 2 files. One is the map info, the other the main game code. (Future versions will include a player with the scrolling map)
As for his future plans for this app, he said that in the end, "would like this to be an easy to use 2D map maker with the ability to add collision inside the editor itself". He also plans to make the editor export to lua, allegro with c++, and maybe c/cc++ for PSP later on.

Now to the download instructions, the program is distributed as a clickone deployment application. Check out PSPMillionaire's forum release thread to know more about it. If that doesn't work, fret not, you still have another option by downloading the program through the link below. The program may also need .NET Framework if you don't have that installed, so we're also providing you a download link for that. Do check out PSP Millionaire's forum release thread for more info on this program. Indeed, it's nice to hear from you again, PSPMillionaire!

Flasher XMB v0.3 - Image 1

PSP homebrew developer, Test30, dropped by the QJ forums recently to tell us about the release of Flasher XMB v0.3 - an app that could help you modify your PSP. A few days after releasing version 0.2, here are the new things that you could find in this recent outing of Flasher XMB:
  • fixed some bugs.
  • has Integrated connection of USB.
  • already the form to install rco is more ordered.
  • it already has the option to suppress space in flash0 (code of Eraser Flash v0.1); suppress 2.7MB in your PSP.
Although clearly English isn't Test30's first language, he was still able to dish out a couple of notes for you guys. You could check his reminders in his forum release thread by clicking on the link below. And since this application writes in flash0, there is always that small chance of this app bricking your PSP, so take caution folks. Having said all that, here's the download link.
