Rebellion answers Aliens vs. Predator PSP exclusivity - Image 1Rebellion Developments, creator of the original Aliens vs. Predator game on Windows, have hinted that its new game similarly entitled Aliens vs. Predator for the Sony PlayStation Portable was made exclusive based on logistics. Tim Jones, head designer at Rebellion, also described available player modes, control schemes, movie tied-in content, and the new video game's PSP exclusivity.

According to Jones, Rebellion had little time to complete the game adaptation for Fox's Christmas movie treat, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. This problem of logistics pushed them to accomplish the game on a platform their company was already developing several titles for: Sony's PSP. Rebellion Developments can be remembered as the creative hands behind Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron.

Jones also spilled new details on the game's gameplay mechanics. Third-person viewpoint aside, controls were re-adapted to conform to the single-analog nub control of the Sony PlayStation Portable. The analog control will handle movement, while the shoulder buttons will turn the player's view to the left or right. Precision aiming is also provided for the player, though it does not come with simultaneous movement while zoomed in.

Aliens vs. Predator for the Sony PSP will also come with a Survival mode, where an endless onslaught of Xenomorphs can be faced by either a single player or another buddy via ad-hoc connection. Also, though the game is based on Requiem, the game will not come with any tied-in movie content, such as footage. It will, however, carry the movie's primary plot, though the event sequencing may sport "key differences."

Alien Versus Predator - Image 1

The war between the Xenomorphs and the Predators rages on, and thanks to the combined efforts of both Sierra Entertainment and Rebellion Developments, we can easily take part on the go with Aliens vs. Predator for the Sony PlayStation Portable. It's time to use all the ridiculously-cool armory that all predators are kitted out with on those sneaky, double-mouthed aliens, and we see all the action in full with these new screenshots.

While the movie franchise itself is already quite old, the fact remains that the concept of the shrieking, spindly-bodied aliens duking it out with heavily-armored predators sporting dreadlocks will always be cool. These screenshots, which depict some awesome-looking gameplay of the title itself, is proof of that. The predator we'll be controlling looks suitably armed to take out a horde of Xenomorphs all by his lonesome, and the Xenomorphs themselves are still scary as hell.

One thing we'd really like though, besides being able to play as an alien in the game, is a next-gen remake of that side-scrolling beat-em-up on the arcade made by Capcom. It doesn't have to be 3D, just updated 2D sprites and more enemies to shoot at. That'd certainly rock.

Enjoy the screenshots!

The hunt is on with more screenshots for Alien versus Predator on the PSP - Image 1

Predator fans will be pleased to see these screenshots for Alien versus Predator as they showcase the Yautja hunting the Aliens (known as hard meat in the novels) in various locals. Slated to be published by Sierra Entertainment and being developed by Rebellion Developments, this game has some of the prettiest graphics we've seen in a PSP game.

This game has you controlling a lone predator, hunting hard meat with various weaponry including laser trip mines, dual shoulder cannons, and even wrist blades. The various thermal vision modes and cloaking will be available giving you an edge over the humans whom you'll presumably be able to hunt as well (aliens can see through cloaking and are just as hard to spot via thermal modes of view).

Aliens versus Predator really shines in co-op multiplayer mode where you and your friends can team-up to hold off waves of attacking aliens. Slated to be out this November, it looks to provide lots of gameplay for fans of the AvP series everywhere. While waiting, why don't you check out the screenshots of the game?

Alien Versus Predator screenshots - Image 1 Alien Versus Predator screenshots - Image 2 Alien Versus Predator screenshots - Image 3

While information is still pretty sparse on Rebellion's upcoming Aliens Vs. Predator game for the PSP, we'll be updating with a bit of good news. We've managed to pick up a couple of screenshots of the game, mostly of the predator you're expected to control.

Unfortunately, we can't really tell from these screenshots if the title's indeed to be played from a third-person, given that the shots don't have a heads-up display. Also, the pics are a bit grainy enough, that they actually look like scans. Scanned screenshots, maybe?

But that's the latest information tidbit we've got arranged for the moment - drop by once in a while in case we're infected with more updates.

Alien versus Predator for the PSP in the works - Image 1If you're a fan of the Aliens versus Predator series, you'll undoubtedly remember the awesome PC game of the same name that was developed by Rebellion back in 1999. The same developers are reportedly working on a new Aliens versus Predator game for the PlayStation Portable which will be based on the upcoming movie sequel this Christmas.

Currently, very few details are known about the game aside from a few screenshots of the game which show that it will most likely be played from a third-person perspective, and that it will be published by Sierra. CVG got a chance to talk with Rebellion who says that "we're [Rebellion] happy to be working with Sierra, but can't comment just yet in any more detail."

We can't help but be excited at what playable characters will be in Aliens versus Predator for the PSP. It would be really cool if they included predator-alien hybrids as well as some powerloaders for Colonial Marines. Be sure to keep checking back here for more updates on this game.
