Bad news for players who are currently hooked on Capcom Puzzle World and who are currently running their PSP units on the latest version of the firmware (FW 3.5).Capcom has detected a "potential conflict" between the title and the firmware which may cause a specific part of the game - specifically Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo - to crash. Capcom believes it's the same bug that plagued PSP owners with firmware versions 3.3 and earlier. It should be remembered, however, that the bug itself was ironed out in firmware version 3.4. Now that the company is aware of this issue, its devs are working closely with Sony to get this problem resolved as quickly as possible. So everyone just sit tight - you'll be able to go back to your Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo games before too long. |

A couple of days ago, we were wondering about old but well-loved titles making their appearance on the PSP. The trend, as we pointed out, is a direction that Capcom is heading towards as they have a slew of classic games to be out soon. We kind of missed out on Capcom Puzzle World and so today, we're trying to make up for it. But when you really think about it, Puzzle World is not actually a reincarnation - in the strictest sense of the word. Sure, it features characters from old titles like Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Block Block, and Buster Bros. Collection, but more than the characters, the game focuses on the different puzzle games. Capcom Puzzle World was supposed to be released at the end of 2006 but it was pushed back to February 6, 2007 for the US, March 16 for Europe, and March 14 for Australia. With all that aptly mentioned, we provided a download link if you want to see some more screenshots and the updated pack shot of the game. Download: [Capcom Puzzle World screenshots] |

Puzzle games are not only extremely challenging, they are quite fun as well. And it seems like more and more people are getting hooked on puzzle games - the number of games being released in this genre is enough testimony of that. Now, puzzle game fanatics have another game to add to their collection: Capcom Puzzle World for the PSP. A compilation of Capcom classics Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Block Block, and the three-in-one Buster Bros. Collection, Capcom Puzzle World have been retouched and updated to fit the PSP system's 16x9 widescreen aspect ratio. Hare are other nice features PSP owners can expect on this game: * Personalized content: -The first PSP system game with a screenshot mode. Stop any game at any time to take a snap shot of the moment
-Intuitive wireless ad hoc multiplayer game setups
If this is the first time you've heard of the puzzle games included in this Capcom title, let me brief you on them:
> Players control pairs of blocks - called 'gems' - that fall into a pit-like playfield. To prevent the dreaded game over, you will need to eliminate the gems by coming into contact with a Crash Gem of the same color. But this is just the Super Puzzle Fighter II: X gem breaking mode. In this PSP game, there will be two new modes. First is Super Puzzle Fighter II: Y where you would need to group similar colors to create groups of three or more. Once the colors are line up, they break and charge up the “Change Gem” meter. The next mode is Puzzle Fighter II: Z. Here, you'll have the same gameplay as the X mode but in place of those falling blocks is a raising play field. To win, you'd have to prevent the gems from reaching the top.
> Was originally released in 1990 and features a two player cooperative mode in destructing blocks. With a constantly shrinking paddle, you'll really need to finish the board as quickly as possible.
> Buster Bros. Collection is originally a Playstation console game. It has three games in it, consisting of Buster Bros, Super Buster Bros, and Buster Buddies. Super Buster Bros is an updated version of its predecessor with improved graphics and the inclusion of “Panic Mode” which added 99 levels of feverish action. Buster Buddies was the last version of the series to be released in the arcades, featuring four original characters, different stages and more bonus items. Capcom Puzzle World will be out later this year. Meanwhile, enjoy these four new screens!

Planned for release sometime in Q3 2006, Capcom Puzzle World is essentially a compilation of classic Capcom games featuring titles such as Super Puzzle Fighter II, Block Block, and even the Buster Bros. Collection. It looks like there were be some cool multiplayer battle modes to try out, and this will definitely be a must have title for all of you puzzle fanatics out there.

Gamespot seems to be on a roll today with updates. They have tossed up a preview of Capcom Puzzle World and have given us a brief idea of what to expect when the title hits the shelves. In the preview, they were able to play Super Puzzler Fighter II and the Super Buster Bros. games. The game is a compilation of previous Capcom titles and should provide hours of mindless fun and plenty of time killing games. Here's a small clip from the preview: The early version of the game that we tried only let us mess around with Super Puzzler Fighter II and the Super Buster Bros. games. Though the game graphics and overall performance obviously need some smoothing out, both titles looked and played faithfully to their predecessors. On top of the expected faithful translation, the titles will all support PlayStation Portable optimizations and exclusive features to give the compilation some meat. The games are being optimized for the PSP's 16x9 screen, will offer ad hoc Wi-Fi play, feature a screenshot mode, and even let players import pictures on their memory stick to use as level backgrounds. Capcom Puzzle World is slated to ship later this year for the PSP. |

Everyone enjoys puzzle games, a good testament of this was the success of games like Bejeweled. Simple games that are addicting and fun sell well because they can kill time in boring situations; Capcom Puzzle World is not an exception. The game takes full advantage of the size of the screen and multiplayer capabilities. The game includes Puzzle Fighter and games from the Buster Bros series.
