News are just starting to trickle in as this year's Tokyo Game Show opens its gates. But what little reports we're receiving now at this early stage of the event sure are hard-hitting ones already. See what Square Enix, for one, has been up to so far in the event.

A scan from Famitsu confirms Bartz Klauser from FFV joining the cast of fighters in Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Yeah, you definitely wouldn't want to mess with him - he means business. Even if he looks like he's wearing nothing but toliet paper or something...

In an interview, Dissidia senior director Ken Arakawa reveals their plans for TGS. Not only will they be bringing a playable demo, but apparently, if all things go accordingly, the full roster will finally be revealed. Which means... if any of you wanna do some speculating, this is you last chance before we get confirmation! (and here I am, still hoping for Ultros or Opera Vectra to show up...)

Alright, armchair brawlers! It's time for a quick lesson on how to properly dispatch your enemies in Square Enix's Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Face it, sometimes it's hard to go by textual descriptions and explanations of gameplay elements alone, so now, we see it in action. It's quite simple, really. Two videos walk us through the Brave Points and Break system that this RPG-fighting game will be using. Besides, if you're already beating the lifestream out of someone, you might as well do it in style...

Lucky gamers over at Japan can finally make sure they'll be able to got a copy of Dissidia: Final Fantasy when it comes out on shelves December 18. (No one wants to be faced with a "sold out" sign during launch day, right?) Pre-orders are now available in Japanese retail stores and they're throwing in a freebie too: a "special calendar" (most likely Dissidia- or Squeenix-themed).

Some conflicts just can't be resolved even with time. Take for example Garland and Warrior of Light. They've been going for each other's throats since the first Final Fantasy title, and after more than a dozen installments, they're still at it. Random enemy encounters are like so last year. Dissidia: Final Fantasy's encounter system is different though, and it sort of takes some elements from FFX's Sphere Grid and FFXII's License Board - minus the micromanagement aspect (whew!). Dissidia employs a chessboard-type system to guide your character around the "world map" - read the full article for more info as well as a gameplay video of Garland vs. Warrior of Light.

You know what they say... 77,777's a charm. The opening of pre-orders for the PSP-3000 Dissidia Limited Edition bundle is just about to start; think you feel lucky? Well, let's just hope that, this time around, Testuya Nomura gets to reserve his bundle before the pre-order period closes.

New Dissidia: Final Fantasy scans arrive today from Famitsu. In it, three characters take the limelight: newly confirmed Cecil and Golbez finally take the stand, while Onion Knight gets a rather fishy looking new "costume".
