Two new titles have found their way into "The Best" budget line-up for Japan. Parading after other sleeper hits like Level 5's Jeanne d'Arc and Namco's Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Dynasty Warriors are currently on queue to be re-released under the "The Best" label with an oh-so-tempting slash off their price.Konami's MGS Portable Ops will be re-released on the 20th of this month - same day as MPO+ - with a JP¥ 2,800 (US$ 25) tag, while Koei's Dynasty Warriors will follow on October 4 for JP¥ 1,600 (US$ 15). Man, what a steal. Especially with the incoming release of MGS Portable Ops Plus, we expect the original version's price cut off couldn't have come at a better time. For the Japanese, at least. Nonetheless... there's always PlayAsia. |

2nd Evolution is a sequel to the first PSP entry in the Dynasty Warriors series, which launched with the system in Japan back in December of 2004. Using that game as a base, Koei has upped up the volume and added a host of new features. The game promises over 300 generals. New for this update is a stage branching system. Based on your actions, you'll take a different path through a given stage. The number of stages has increased considerably over the original. The game also adds a new horse customization feature. You can now customize your horse with various parts and colors. Dynasty Warriors felt somewhat rushed at its release. The sequel supports true wide screen and adds four player wireless play, two features that were lacking in the original. Koei has yet to announce 2nd Evolution for stateside release, but with Samurai Warriors on the way, you can bet this one will follow in the near future. [via IGN] |

Dynasty Warriors may have made it out in time for the launch of the Japanese PSP last year, but it was missing one key component: multiplayer play. Koei has fixed that for Samurai Warriors (Geki Sengoku Musou in Japan), a successor of sorts to that title. The company revealed today that this PSP adaptation of the original PS2 Samurai Warriors will include a four player ad-hoc battle mode. In addition to being a giant leap from the PSP version of Dynasty Warriors, which lacked multiplayer play, it's even a step up from the traditional console Musou games, which have, at most, two player split screen play. The game will include a number of multiplayer modes, of which only one has been revealed. In this mode, you and three other players are placed on the same battle field and attempt to take out enemy leaders as quickly as possible. You can beat up on your rival players in order to hinder them in their efforts. With improved visuals, a number of modifications to the PS2 original, and the new four player play, Samurai Warriors is shaping up to be a holiday treat for the Japanese PSP. The game is set for Japanese release on 12/8. |

![]() Koei has announced that the official UK website for Dynasty Warriors PSP has gone live. The site includes everything you'd want to know about the game, including screenshots and video footage. The game received mix reviews in Japan and the US, but fans of the series will probably lap it up when it's released on September 1st in the UK. |
