Looks like the coming months will have the Ghost of Gaming Past visiting our PSPs. As reported by The Magic Box, two "sequels" are already in the making: EA Replay 2 and Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai Another Road. These were spotted over at GameStop, with respective release dates of February 19 (for US$ 29.99) and March 20 (US$ 39.99) of this year.

Right now, these are listed as rumors since we haven't heard anything from Electronic Arts nor Atari about the two games. We tried doing our own investigation, and when we checked the inner bowels of the GameStop website, what we did find was this:

Much to say, there doesn't seem to be any sign of EA Replay 2, despite our search efforts. Now, if we only we could consult the Ghost of Gaming Future we'd be able to confirm these rumors if indeed the said games would be released. It goes without saying that we're sure to give you updates as developments arise.

There was a time when Electronic Arts wasn't the giant conglomerate it is today. You know, back before the bubble burst, when the logo wasn't "EA" or "EA Games: Microtransact Challenge Everything" but the Cube, the Sphere, and the Cone, or the Square, the Circle, and the Triangle (TMs). And those, honestly, were good times. Kick back on the couch with the Sega Genesis powered up to Desert Strike and a Garbage CD in the player. Good times.

So we're somewhat stoked that EA Replay for the PSP hits the stores in North America today (yeah, even with Genesis emulators for the PSP). The early days were days of innocence, where the limits (usually 16-bit) of the technology then did not limit the imagination of developers, or the potential for good games, and it's wonderful that, even as EA makes mistakes here and there, it can come up with a smart idea once in a while. This writer, for one, is itching for Desert and Jungle Strike, Ultima, and Wing Commander (who knew a space sim could be playable in an SNES?).

Old school European fans, fret not (or at least not much), EA Replay hits Continental shores on December 8. My only complaint? EA forgot to include Urban Strike to complete the 16-bit Strike trilogy. Oh, that's (BLEEP!) it. They had a good idea, and they still fell short at least one game (we know you guys have your own favorite SNES and Genesis games). If they don't start up an EA Replay Replayed or something in the near future...

Drive the family nuts with your gross antics and you just might find them taking a run for it. This is what Haunting Starring Polterguy from EA Replay is all about. Sounds neat, huh? Well, for as long as you're the one doing the scaring, and not the other way around. I know I sure wouldn't want no poltergeist hanging around at my crib!

Anyhow, we have here for you new screens to give you a feel of how this game would go. So a few days ago you've got the Budokan screens, the trailers on Road Rash, B.O. B shots, and now this. By this time, you should already be at least pretty much ahead of the pack when it comes to these games.

Right. So, there. Get started on your strategy on how you'd win over this family's house. Happy haunting!

We have here some screens of the upcoming retro-themed compilation from EA, EA Replay. After giving you those Road Rash trailers and B.O.B screens, we now have here in our midst some Budokan screens. Not familiar with it? Shame on you! Nah, we're just messing with you.

A quick walk down memory lane for the uninitiated reader, the game was released in 1990 and it is a versus fighting game wherein the player could use Karate, Bo, Nunchaku, and Kendo. Some trivia of sorts for you: most of your opponents are male, with the exception of that girl with the Naginata, although there were speculations that a Ninjutsu fighter with a masked face might be female as well.

Ok, so you may be asking why in the world are you going to be interested in buying a game that you can play for free with homebrew emulators. To answer that, lemme quote what my co-blogger, Gino D. said- "we should give everyone - commercial developer or homebrewer - a round of applause for keeping our childhood alive." Although not every kid had a happy childhood, most of us here agree with what he said. So with that, here are the screens.

By this time, there's nothing left to say about EA Replay that we haven't posted here on QJ previously. Wait, we do have something new to serve up. It's the EA Replay fact sheet and it's a must-read for those of you who were still eating strained carrots when these games first came out:

Welcome to the '90s! We know you'll love these classics as much as your ancestors did! EA Replay is due in North America this November 7.

Don't you ever feel like the PSP is starting to become like a museum of sorts? There's Capcom Classics Collection Remix, then the Sega Genesis Collection... Now, EA Replay. Whoa, whoa. Who said we're complaining? "Museum" as it may be like, a big chunk of our childhood was spent on some of these games. And boy... wouldn't we want to relive the past?

Electronic Arts is bringing back 14 of its games from the Sega Genesis system and the SNES to your handheld, all in one neatly packed UMD. Of course, you can't just spackle in these 2D games into the PSP without adding anything new, right? Apparently, you'd be able to unlock some artworks like whoa. They're also going to include an ad hoc system to play games like Mutant League Football wirelessly with your friends.

There's also a whole slew of (free) homebrew emulators (e.g. Daedalus or ScummVM) that are continuously getting jumped up in the QJ blogs, but it's also great to see commercial releases of the classics. So we should give everyone - commercial developer or homebrewer - a round of applause for keeping our childhood alive.

We managed to get word that Electronic Arts will be releasing a PSP retro-compilation called EA Replay. Will the old school game compilation sell well in the market (now that emulators are widespread, and a lot of homebrews out there have better graphics)? We're not really sure. Perhaps EA should've just made remakes of each title, with new millennium makeovers.

Anyway, Road Rash, Road Rash II, and Road Rash III are some of the titles featured in the game, and we think that these old school racers really deserve the spot. A quick check would show that the release date for this game is drawing near, so we thought that we should give old school pixel racing fans a treat. Here are some nifty videos of the racing classic. Long, long ago, in the twentieth century, when consoles that began with the letter "P" had yet to be introduced to the world and laptops were bigger than your lap, there were video games. You may not believe it, but there were video games, and few games of that time ever talked about the sheer awesomeness of ponies combined with kittens.

Those were the days when life was simpler but the game was just as fun. It's a good thing that Electronic Arts gave us the chance to take a quick trip back in time with their games collection EA Replay.

For this look back at the gaming goodness of the 1990s, let us see some wondrous screenshots of a game known as B.O.B. It plays like your standard platforming 2-D shooter game, but is memorable simply because you happen to start the game off by crashing your dad's space car on an asteroid full of hostiles. Lucky son of a bot, aren't you?

Road Rash is one of those vintage titles that you instantly recognise, after all, it was one of the founders of the racing game genre, showing just what you can do with a motorbike, a fist and a little bit of aggression. Road Rash was like an adrenaline-fuelled version of Outrun, with a motorcycle, a bit of cartoony violence and probably the first game to incorporate 'street cred' as a vital part of the gameplay. You had to make yourself look cool by punching, kicking and speeding your way through the finish line in the most stylish way possible to impress your fellow bikers.

Sound good? Well now thanks to Electronic Arts you can relive all of this excitement with their upcoming PSP compilation EA Replay. The game will feature no less than 14 old-school titles from the early 90s ported to PSP and will be released on November 7.
