Here's the latest from The PSP Show. It's now on its 33rd episode and talks of quite a lot of things you guys might be interested in. It starts with reminders of the Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror demo being released this week, as well as the Ratchet & Clank issues with some homebrew. While those were only mentioned in passing, the real bulk of the show concerns Every Extend Extra (recently released in UK).The host playfully tries to pronounce the designer for E3, and to quote: "It's coming from... Mezuts... zume-zush... mezkiym, Tetsuya." Well, not bad. We're sure Testsuya Mizuguchi gets that all the time. But as for the game review itself, the host basically describes it as "a lovely, cute game" where your sole purpose is to go BOOM and get "oodles and oodles of points." The gist is there, true. And for some of you guys (especially in North America) who have already played the game for months now, it's still interesting to hear this guy talk about the game from his perspective. And hey!, finally I know why the game is called such. Call me a dork, but I never figured it out that way. Anyways, as reviews go, he talks about the pros and cons. "It looks wonderful, it sounds wonderful" but you're pretty much under a lot of randomness. Well, to each his own. Q Entertainment's addictive, explosive, and hypnotic puzzle shooter follow up to Lumines II, Every Extend Extra should see a European release date of February 9 (or so Playfuls.com claims). And since anticipation for this game is arguably high, we're naturally curious about how this sound-trip of game came to be.A few quick searches led us to a GameSpot UK interview with Tetsuya Mizuguchi, that reveals several interesting bits about the games development. Below are some of the things that Mizuguchi had to say about the game: On how the game evolved from a free PC game to a full PSP release Mizuguchi explains that one day, one of the younger members of Q Entertainment discovered Every Extend on the PC. It was so addictive and viral (eventualy the whole team was playing it), that eventually one of the staff came to Mizuguchi and suggested that the team concert it for the PSP and give it a Q flavor. Mizuguchi adds that the game is a good fit with the previous games they've made. It's apparently an extension of the music is interactive theme that they've got in mind for the PSP. On the visual style Mizuguchi explains that he just leaves it up to the designers and he thinks that each should have its own individual style. Rez is Rez, and Every Extend Extra is Every Extend Extra. He says that Every Extend Extra (EEE) getting close to Rez in terms of style is something that he's "quite anxious about" On synaesthesia Mizuguchi explains that when it comes to his style if developing games, Rez in particular, draws a lot of inspiration from the work of artists like Kandinsky, the concept of synaesthesia (the mixing of senses hear a sound, see a color), and rave culture. Basically, he constantly tires to keep visuals, sounds, and game response intertwined. Interactively created grooves, or some-such. On the Wii Since we're going to get console specific now, and people are quite touchy about consoles, we'll let Mizuguchi's words do the talking. Here they are: The Wii is really unique, really fun to play, but the graphics and sound technology is not gorgeous like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. I think it's very fun, and they have style, but I think it depends on the idea for the game. If I have an idea that I need to use the [Wii Remote] for, then I will do that. But no particular ideas or projects yet! And there you have it, folks, a whole lot on EEE from Mizuguchi himself. We'll keep you updated about this game as news becomes available. For now, If you're European and you want this game, mark February 9 on your calendars. |

It's time to shout "Merry Christmas!" to your UMDs as we have another Q Entertainment video blowout for you fellows. Instead of plain old gameplay things, we've got some video ads of both games for you to enjoy! As you can plainly see above, this article is about love. Specifically psychedelic, trippy, puzzle love. When you think of PSP puzzles though, you definitely think Lumines II and his cousin Every Extend Extra (E3). Lumines takes its roots from the Tetris genre, adding a decidedly musical spin to it as blocks only get destroyed when the music bar passes over them. In E3, your job is to create chain reactions of lights and sound by blowing your little avatar up to make even more fireworks! Instead of calling these games psychedelic, we're tempted to say that their gameplay psychedelicious. You can grab the games on store shelves for 30 bucks, so don't hesitate to grab them. Enjoy the vids! Download: [Lumines II and E3 video ads] |

Quick question: would you rather hear OUR version of this news bit or the press release's? 'Coz really, this writer personally finds it funny that press releases should be overloaded with amazing enthusiastic and energetic adjectives, when really the info could be presented in a calm, tranquil, and serene manner. So anyway, Lumines II and Every Extend Extra (otherwise known as E3) has swiftly shipped to retail stores all over America in an unprecedented and jaw-dropping speed, and has now astoundingly and amazingly hit the shelves! Writer's note: Aaaagh! Sorry, I can't do it, if I have to write at least five adjectives in one sentence I might just be forced to eat this keyboard in front of me. (Whaaat?) ANYWAY, going back to the topic, you can now have the puzzle shooter E3 which combines arcade gameplay with light shows and musical beats. Yep, we're talking about the title hailed by Game Informer mag as Handheld Game of the Month for November. Lumines II, as you guys all know, is not just your ordinary puzzle game 'coz it's filled with awesome screens and sound to elevate the good old pen-and-paper genre. Lumines II is rated E10+ and sells for a SRP of US $29.99, while Every Extend Extra is rated E and will sell for an SRP of US $29.99. Grab your copies now and experience psychedelic spectralgasm.*winks* |

The pyschedelic world of Every Extend Extra (E3) has been hogging the limelight lately. We have given you a lot of reports about this Q Entertainment offering, from the Reo Yonaga versus mode, E3 ranking and artists updates, we have kept you posted about this game. Some may say that this may not be their kinda game, some may say otherwise, but still, nobody can deny how innovative and unique this game is.
Now we bring you another video featuring E3. The guys in the video were saying that E3's gameplay has some parallelisms with Bomberman and they were also explaining how to build up a lot of points. We warn you that this video has a lot of profanity/bad words in it, so excuse them, they probably just can't help themselves. |

Here's a bit of good news to PSP owners who are still mulling over buying Lumines II and Every Extend Extra (E3). Gamestop is offering both games for $29.99 each. Too bad for those who picked up E3 for $45.We're always on the lookout for great deals so when we got word that GameStop is offering both games at a very nice price, we went to check what Amazon.com has to offer. We weren't surprised to see Lumines II being offered at the same marked down price. Oddly enough, there's no E3 on the list. But still, it's great to know that these two online retailers have slashed down the price. There's nothing like a good price to get back to your PSP game shopping spree. Every Extend Extra is the sequel of the popular freeware game Every Extend. Though it's a puzzle game, it's been described as an action shooting game where gameplay is set to a music beat while you build up combos and charge blasts to burst floating obstacles and avoid being hit down as you move around funky virtual worlds. In Lumines II, you'd be challenged to move blocks of four different colored squares across the board, while trying to create a single square of the same color. Both games will be released later this year. |

After releasing the trial version of Every Extend Extra for the PC, the numbers are in. Those who have downloaded and played the game can now view how their skills fared compared to other players all over the world through EEE's official website. You can view the the top 20, 50 and 100 of the game's various sponsors like Yahoo! Games, Tsutaya Online and Gpara.com among others. The top ranking players get to win an iPod Nano, Beams T, a copy of Lumines and a PSP. The success of their trial version ranking has convinced Q Entertainment to have a, according to Babelfish's translation, "product edition" ranking. So far, they still don't have any plans on the method of how to rank the players. One option was to take screenshots and submit it via email. The only drawback is that there would be millions, maybe even gazillions, of entries coming in, and sorting them out would be a pain in the neck. And on a musical side note, one of Er's contributing artists, USCUS, has released their 2nd album entitled Mentarhythm under the Anoyo label. You can hear samples of their album tracks over at Wakyo Webshop before purchasing. It is priced a ¥2300 or $19.95 USD. |
