Final Fantasy I & II: 20th Anniversary Edition just marched into Europe's store shelves a couple of days back. While some probably snatched the titles off the shelves as soon as they got there, you might be one of those still on the fence. European gamers who've been eagerly awaiting the release of Square Enix's classic RPG remake on the PlayStation Portable should take the time to visit the official website of Final Fantasy I & II: 20th Anniversary Edition for the PAL region release of the game. After announcing a 2008 PAL release for Final Fantasy 1 and 2: 20th Anniversary Edition, Square Enix has finally announced a February release for both PlayStation Portable remakes. Check out the full release date as well as more details about the game at the full article.

Square Enix has already given word that it will be making Final Fantasy I & II: 20th Anniversary Edition available in Europe and other PAL regions by next year. But for those of you who can't wait, online retail store Play-Asia has a good deal for you.

The said store is currently selling the improved and enhanced version of Final Fantasy II for just US$ 14.90. This is part of Play-Asia's weekly special and the deal will expire five days from now. More details and the link after the jump!

Developer Square Enix is sending out word to the gamers in Europe that they will be releasing Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II to the Sony PlayStation Portable by next year.

More than just a direct port of the original JRPG from 1987, Final Fantasy's PSP version will have players reliving the adventures of the game's four light warriors with enhanced visuals and sound. There will also be a new PSP-exclusive dungeon called the Labyrinth of Time.

Final Fantasy II will also follow suit with redone graphics and sounds as well as the introduction of two extra dungeons: Arcane Labyrinth and Arcane Sanctuary. Both Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II will also carry a new Art Gallery mode, where players can view the artwork of the Final Fantasy franchise's lead illustrator, Yoshitaka Amano.

Square Enix and online retail store Play-Asia is currently running an offer that gives PlayStation Portable owners a chance to purchase Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition for just US$ 19.90. What they are offering is the Asian version of the game that comes with an English and Japanese text option.

The first ever Final Fantasy game features four young warriors each possessing magical crystals. They then discovered that a dark entity has created turmoil in the world threatening the harmonious structure of time and order.

If you still have some savings after purchasing the final installment in the Harry Potter book series last July 21, you might want to check up on this week's game releases. It's quite a big library to stir into your gaming cauldrons. In this week's On Shelves lineup, we find Square Enix's Final Fantasy II: Anniversary Edition for the PSP. Final Fantasy II Anniversary Edition. Decades since its original release, this PSP remake clocks the 20th Anniversary of the FF franchise. With improved graphics and CG cinematics from the FF Origins release, this iteration of the much re-released classic will revisit the story of orphaned Firion, Maria, Guy, and Leon in their quest to overthrow the power-hungry emperor. In commemoration of Final Fantasy's 20th anniversary, Square Enix North America held one of the biggest Final Fantasy events ever to hit Western shores: the Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary Celebration (big surprise with the name there).

Held last night in San Francisco's PlayStation Store, attendees were able to experience PSP's remake of Final Fantasy II (to be shipped on July 24) firsthand, and get themselves a copy of PSP's Final Fantasy if they haven't yet.

The first 100 fans were lucky enough to be able to snag exclusive Final Fantasy event goodie bags, and Final Fantasy anniversary shirts were also available for all fans present in the event. We heard that there was a massive line waiting to be let in the store. Too bad for the people who weren't able to get in after all the trouble they've gone through just to get to the event.

With preparations well underway for Final Fantasy I come its Square-Enix launch party this June 26, we'll be taking another looks at its sister game, Final Fantasy II, before it gets primed for its July release. This latest video we've got features the game intro intro, complete with revamped character sprites for Firion, Maria and Guy - FF II's main cast.

Also up for grabs is a Forest Ambush gameplay vid - where frolicking in the woodlands is anything but safe. Enjoy these clips, and make sure to wait up for FF II's June 24 release.

Well, there seems to be gameplay galore today. GameTrailers has yet another new video up, featuring tons of gameplay action for Square Enix's original Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy I.

How much gameplay, you ask? Well, there's close to six minutes of gameplay goodness here, including some tame fights with Piscodaemons and an intense boss battle with Astos, King of the Dark Elves.

In any case, we'll leave you to your own devices. We don't want to be anywhere near this place when Astos brings the castle down on you. Have fun with the video though!
