FreePlay debunks Team Mack 6.00 CFW - Image 1Despite being widely criticized for their work on MAC-B 6.00, Team Mack has remained adamant, continuing to defend themselves with video updates, which continue to get bashed anyway. If user comments won't get to them, maybe this one will. If there's anyone in the homebrew scene who's gonna speak up against tomfoolery, it's FreePlay. The self-confessed "PSP hacker, PSP Revolution addict, atheist, skeptic, all-purpose ranter" posts his own video debunking Team Mack's 6.00 CFW.

Explination - Image 1When Mack's CFW 6.00 MAC-B video surfaced, the word "fake" was echoed in forums and comments sections all over the interwebs. Insisting that they're legit and their work will indeed be downloadable in the future, Mack posts another vid explaining everything.

gt - Image 1More bad news for PSP custom firmware users. Apparently, the upcoming Gran Turismo PSP will require you to have the latest firmware 6.00 installed before playing the game. More after the break.

PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior - Image 1Usually, when a comparatively major firmware update gets released, the first thing the homebrew community does is scrutinize the changelog. Not just the one officially posted but also the things that Sony doesn't mention. Then, it's usually decrypted pretty rapidly by one group or another. Finally, someone posts a YouTube video showing what is allegedly a working CFW version of the official update.

Things didn't go any different with OFW 6.00.

CFW 6.00 - Image 1Well, well, what have we here? It hasn't been long since the GEN team announced that they've decrypted the newly-released PSP FW 6.00, and now we have this video claiming that a working CFW 6.00 can be released soon. Do we have a real one on our hands? Or is this just another YouTube hoax? See for yourself.

Thanks to Zac Isaac for the heads up!

PSP - Image 1A QJ.NET reader has just dropped us an email saying that official firmware 6.00, which was released for the Sony PlayStation Portable just a couple of days ago, has already been decrypted. Wow. Those GEN folks work pretty fast.

Thanks to JSanity663 for the tip!

Sony PlayStation Portable - Image 1So official firmware 6.00 is here. As with every OFW release, there's bound to be speculation about what steps the homebrew community would counter the new protections it puts into place, and who do we all turn to but Dark AleX? Those hoping for a 6.00 M33 release will likely end up waiting in vain, however.

Thanks to shadownhero for the tip!
