PSP Homebrew developer TTYman is back to keep the old school emulation action on the PSP alive! This time, he comes with good things, as well as the latest version for the epic piece of software that lets us play MAME games on the go, PSP MAME4ALL v4.7r3. Lots of bug fixes and overall improvements on this one, and most of them have to do with the cute chirping sounds those good retro games make as you're having your way with them. Let's check the changelog and see what's been modified from the previous version: Fixed from v4.7r2

Homebrew developer Cpasjuste dropped by QJ.NET PSP Development Forum and announced that he was able to make MAME4ALL compatible with the new PSP Slim and Lite. For the uninitiated, MAME stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. The build ported by Cpasjuste is TTYman's latest take on the project. Aside from the upgrade compatibility features, MAME GP2X v4.7 PSP for PSP Slim works exactly the same as MAME4ALL v4.7. With that said, here are some of the worth mentioning features of the said version:

When talking about Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, or MAME, we think retro coin-op video games. Well, we're all going to get more arcade goodness - minus the quarters - in TTYman's new PSP MAME4ALL release. The PSP homebrew developer has released version 4.7r2 Hires, which features a couple of fixes from version 4.7 and then some. PSP MAME4ALL by TTYman is actually based on the GP2X releases by Franxis and supports PSP Hires (480x272), overclocking (133 to 333MHz), among other things. Here's the full list of features from TTYman's blog post:
Anyway, check out the emulator by downloading it below. Be sure to go over the readme files included in the zipped file for more information about PSP MAME4ALL. Enjoy! Download: PSP MAME4ALL v4.7r2 Hires |

We informed you last week that Andreas has finally decrypted the Capcom Play System 3 (CPS3). Now that the emulator is nearing completion, ELSemi and Haze have finally decided to divulge concrete information about the project. The emulator itself is for Windows but just like what happened to program MAME4ALL, it will eventually be ported to our dear PlayStation Portable. As for the emulator's current status, here are the info as provided by the author (ELSemi is actually Spanish and this is the translated version):

Nostalgic players will pine no more for those classic arcade games of old, because of the works of Kech with the help of his fellow developers on MAME4AllPSP.On v0.0.2, the sound is much better compared to the previous release. The resolution has also received some much needed change. There's also the addition of new keys: Pressing the Left and Right key together would Pause the game while pressing Start and Select would Reset it. Kech in his dev log, would like to thank the following for their help and support: djacura and jcm2004 betatesters Sazuke2911 for their first port Chui for the port of the emulator to SDL Franxis for make the port of MAME and all the people that had help Franxis in the make of the port DOWNLOAD: [MAME4AllPSP v0.0.2] |
