Randy Pitchford of Gearbox Software - the team behind Borderlands (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) - is in our sights for the moment, as he comments on the direction Electronic Arts Medal of Honor FPS franchise was taking as of late. Pitchford expressed his concern, stating that he felt it needed somebody who could truly understand its core fantasy. More details on this are available in the full article. |

In case you couldn't get yourself a copy of Medal of Honor Heroes back when it was released last year, and you STILL skipped on it when it went on sale last November, then maybe this can finally convince you to pick up this game (either for the first time, or as a replacement for that older copy that you've already completely worn out by now). As shown, this title from Electronic Arts has gone down the road that all games inevitably take, which is the one that's headed for the bargain bin. Target, being the nice retailer that it is, has finally dropped down the price for this title to a pleasant US$ 19.99. Of course, this still doesn't beat those one-dollar Burger King games, but if you want to add another title to your game library, or you're giving the game away as a present, at least twenty bucks isn't so hard to part with anymore, right? |

Enjoying your copy of Medal of Honor: Heroes? Good, because for the troopers in Europe, we bring you news all the way from the higher ups. The EU PlayStation site (the aforementioned higher ups) has just announced that there is a new demo out for MoH, and since it's a free, we thought you might want to hear about it. The demo will feature the "Belgium Ranch" single-player map, and will allow players to use characters like Jimmy, William, or John from the game's full version. Just make sure to have a registered account with the site and ample memory space for your download (26.2MB). For first-timers to the game, take the opportunity to enjoy a free sample of one of the PSP's more highly-rated World War II FPS titles. Merits go to Eranmane for the intel. |

Santa must have stopped by Omaha Beach on his way to Christmas - either that, or the Army Air Force paradropped too many turkey dinners last Thanksgiving. Either way, we found this scan of a Circuit City ad over at Photobucket that shows Electronic Arts' Medal of Honor: Heroes for the PSP up for US$ 32.99 (as opposed to the regular US$39.99). And for US$ 33.00 you get a compressed historicized fiction of the European theater of World War II, complete with three of the MOH series' heroes, an assortment of American and German armaments, and a whole set of Nazi helmets to pop over the holidays (partridge in a pear tree not included). Unless you got your Heroes for US$ 40.00 before this announcement, of course. Drat. Still, because all we have is that scan, we got no further details to offer. What if it's limited to certain stores and not to others? What if only certain places or states or cities get this deal? Is this a national ad or a local ad? Have you seen this ad wherever you are? Looks like a holiday ad if it would direct us to Circuit City's online gift guide, but we've been burned before by incomplete info. |

In a few days, November 11 to be exact, we'll be celebrating Veteran's Day. Wait up, don't dismiss this at once because you feel like it doesn't concern you. In fact, the moment we saw this, we felt like it was an effort from the organizers to broaden the scope and awareness concerning the celebration. Our soldiers, active or not, have been surrounded by too many political issues and they feel used and neglected long enough.Anyway, before we get all teary-eyed and patriotic here, let us proceed. In Alameda, California this coming Veteran's Day, a Medal of Honor: Heroes PSP Tournament will be held. Since there is no cost to enter, it's actually a good time to spend the special day. Players just have to bring their own PSP with working Wi-Fi while the minimum age requirement to join is 13-years old. Aside from the price, do you know what's the cool thing about the tournament? It would take place on board the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier. Interested already? Sign-up first on the tournament's official website through the link below. You will then receive an email confirming your participation with directions and schedules. Is that understood, young soldier? And oh, before we forget, here is the list of the prizes to be won:

The heroic stories of Jimmy Patterson, William Holt, and John Baker have hit shelves. Electronic Arts has announced that they have sent to retail Medal of Honor Heroes for the PSP. If you've been following the development of this game, you know the details already, but just in case you've been under a rock, or you're just plain uninterested with this genre, here's a quick run through: Medal of Honor Heroes features a new single player campaign, six multiplayer modes within 15 different maps, wireless play with up to 32 players... up to eight gamers across a room in a local ad-hoc connection, Quickplay missions, and the ability to create customized mission scenarios. As far as the single player campaign goes, the game's got three campaigns. One campaign takes place in Holland in Operation Market Garden and you play as Lieutenant Jimmy Patterson. Another, lets you play as Sergeant John Baker and you're tasked to sabotage German defenses on the Italian coastline. And you get to play as Lieutenant William Holt to finish some OSS business during the Battle of the Bulge. The single player campaigns let you unlock over 20 classic characters that you can use in multiplayer games. A little tidbit just in case you guys were wondering what's the point of the single player when there's so much multiplayer content. Well, now that the game is out, does this game, "pimp" your PSP? What do you guys think? If not, why? Buy: [Medal of Honor: Heroes] |

They call them The Greatest Generation because they faced off against a relentless foe and survived a most brutal war that claimed the lives of millions - and still came out on top. Medal of Honor Heroes features three heroes who have made their mark in EA's Medal of Honor series: Lts. Jimmy Patterson and William Holt and Sgt. John Baker. Jimmy Patterson, former Army Air Corps transport pilot turned OSS (Office of Strategic Services) agent, and the trademark MoH hero. He stomped around Fortress Europe in the PS, contacting and assisting local resistance forces. He's also infiltrated the depths of the Nazi war machine with false papers and disguises, then obliterated that machine with every weapon he could get his hands on. William Holt, the all-American boy. Like Jimmy, he's in the OSS, too. Unlike Jimmy, who usually plays alone in the game, William, who made his appearance in European Assault, can also work with a squad (which was a major feature of the game) and has "natural leadership abilities." He also has this knack for being assigned to elimination missions, where he has to gun for key German officers in each battlefield. And John Baker. His bio paints him as sort of a hellraiser as a child, which made him just perfect for the military his disciplinarian father packed him off to. He tore through North Africa and Italy in the Breakthrough expansion to Allied Assault, along the way joining up with the armored force of a more well-known hellraiser, the bad-mouthed tank puncher George Patton. These are three of the Greatest Generation you shall take to the front lines in Heroes. But these are only three of the heroes that the series feature. We wonder if you will be seeing them in the game as NPCs, or if there will be a sequel in the works, such as Mike Powell from the original Allied Assault, and the French resistance fighter Manon Du Champs (or Batiste, if you still remember the PSX Underground - why did her name change, anyway?). Just two weeks before the launch of much-awaited title Medal of Honor: Heroes, publisher Electronic Arts decided to release two new trailers for the game. The first one is very much like the already released trailer with the WW II montage at the beginning. The in game footage though were changed so here's your chance to see other maps. In case that wouldn't do it for you, the second video gives more emphasis to these locations. All in all, this FPS boasts of 12 new European battlefields and 6 different game modes. The various gameplay and control schemes are also things to look out for. What's most exciting is the game's WiFi multiplayer support that can host a total number of 32 players in one go. So if you're feeling a little trigger happy and into some military action, this title should fit you well. Medal of Honor: Heroes is a PSP exclusive and will be available starting October 23. You don't bring what normally would be a rather successful PS2 FPS franchise to the PSP without remembering that you're dealing with a PSP, which has got its checklist of unique quirks and limits. This is what was in the minds of both IGN and Medal of Honor Heroes' Electronic Arts Canada producer Pete Choi when they both sat down to talk about the good old days of World War II. You know, blowing things up old-school.First item in the to-the-PSP checklist is "mobile." Pete says that "the game modes in Medal of Honor: Heroes were specifically designed for the PSP, with its on-the-go nature in mind." Single-player Campaign, for example, features several levels of objectives and achievements. Then there's a customizable single-player Skirmish, for when all you want to by your lonesome do is pop a few heads without worrying about "objectives." Next on the list is "control." EA Canada attacked that item early in development. All the moves that players are accustomed to in the console versions - leaning, grenade cooking, melee - are accessible with the PSP's control schemes. Yes, schemes with an emphasis on the plural. Unlike the console - or PC, for that matter - versions, PSP control schemes are designed around styles of play. "Commando" is the default option, and controls somewhat like its PS2 counterpart. Pete identifies three other schemes though: Elite, Pathfinder, and Sniper. Each is perhaps descriptive of its respective play style. Finally, "Wi-Fi multi." Pete reveals details of how a game that fits in your pocket can also fit 32 players in one go. Aside from EA Nation servers, Medal of Honor: Heroes also allows users to create their own User Hosted Server (UHS) for their own little fracas, complete with full admin rights. They can go to the game's website and download the UHS, upload it into their PCs, and register them with EA Nation. Players can pick any of the EA Nation and UHS Servers to jump into anytime, at any point in the multiplayer game. And that's a wrap, folks. For more info on this game, regularly check QJ for updates.
