Mortal Kombat: Unchained

If you're the type that eats blood and gore for breakfast, then get a generous serving with Midway Games' Mortal Kombat: Unchained. Yes folks, what's old is new again as the latest in the series of Mortal Kombat fighting games has been released exclusively for the PSP. The game will be very similar to the Mortal Kombat: Deception series you've come to enjoy on the Xbox, PS2, and GameCube.

Six bad-ass characters exclusive to the PSP version including Kitana, Blaze, Goro and Shao Kahn, will show-off their deadly moves. Another PSP-exclusive is the Endurance Mode, where players go head-to-head with an all-star cast of Mortal Kombat fighters.

Mortal Kombat: Unchained will also make use of the PSP's Wi-Fi's capabilities for death matches against other players, as well as for multiplayer mini-games.

MK UnchainedCan't wait to unleash Fatality on your opponent via the PSP? Neither can we. But we still have to wait this fall for Mortal Kombat: Unchained to grace our PSP's screens. To tide us all over, we have a Mortal Kombat: Unchained trailer for you to enjoy. Now, we're not running short of these Mortal Kombat eye candies, mind you. Previously we gave you another trailer, and a little earlier before that, a bunch of screenshots for your viewing pleasure.

So get some popcorn, grab a seat and enjoy seeing your favorite Mortal Kombat characters in action. This trailer (like the previous one), gives you a sneak peek of the different gameplay modes. One is called "endurance", which pretty much goes by the "fight until you drop dead from exhaustion" principle; another is the RPG-style "konquest" mode, as well as chess and puzzle kombat modes.

More updates (and good stuff like this, hopefully) as we get them.

MKMortal Kombat: Unchained, the portable version of the 2004 title Mortal Kombat: Deception, comes out this September for the PSP.

This version of Deception will let MK fans kill each other in full 3D while on the go. The game will include lots of the old characters including Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, and Goro. Unchained will also offer new gameplay modes like endurance and "konquest," which is a single-player mission-based game mode where you interact and fight against non-player characters in a 3D world. The game will even include mini games like puzzle kombat and chess, starring your favorite MK fighters. Rounding out the game's features are wireless multiplayer compatibility and multiple fatalities per fighter.

The new trailer for the game showcases all the different modes and characters available. The trailer is available to download below so go ahead and let us know what you think of this upcoming fighter.

Mortal Kombat: Unchained is the portable version of the 2004 title Mortal Kombat: Deception. The PSP version doesn't seem to be light on features either; the screenshots show that you can still switch between fighting styles and that the environments are 3D. Even though these screens look a little on the bland side, I'm sure they will look much better on the PSP's screen in real time instead.

In Unchained, gamers can expect to be able to perform multiple fatalities with characters like Jax, Shao Kahn, and even Goro. The Konquest mode will also be brought over here, as will the mini games. Ad-hoc functionality will be supported as well, so it won't be too long before you're fighting a buddy head to head. Mortal Kombat: Unchained will ship sometime in Fall 2006.
