Well well, it's been a while since we've last heard of Myst for the PSP. It was previously delayed to allow for more quality control, and now we're looking at a release this month. Even if you're not familiar with adventures, you should've heard about Myst. It may not look as great today, but when the game was released in 1993 for the Mac and one year later for the PC, it was a groundbreaking experience. Myst eventually became the best selling computer game for a long time, at least until the Sims madness started. In my opinion, the game still holds up well today and we're looking forward to experiencing it again on the go when it's released for the PSP. Check for more screens after the jump! |

Midway Games Ltd., recently announced a European publishing agreement for Myst on PSP, the latest version of the epic adventure from Cyan Worlds. Over a decade since PC adventurers first sampled the delights of the Myst gaming experience. There are no instructions and the player begins a voyage of exploration without encountering a single living soul. Alone on a mysterious island, you set out to explore its grandeur and mystery. Here a chilling tale of intrigue and injustice, defying all boundaries of space and time, is being told. Quickly, though, it becomes clear every action can somehow help unfortunate individuals trapped somewhere in a parallel dimension. More details about the game and release information will be made available shortly. Martin Spiess, Managing Director - Europe of Midway Games Limited, offered, “we’re thrilled to be bringing one of the best known and most successful game franchises to this handheld format for the first time. Myst promises a one-of-a-kind adventure experience and contribute to the broadening of our PSP portfolio.” Manny J. Granillo, President & Chief Designer of Hoplite Research, LLC, stated, "finding the right partner with the right vision and who is in touch with what gamers want is always a challenge. We are delighted that we can work with such a strong publisher as Midway." There has been no announcement on when the game will be out, but for now, go ahead and take a look at some of the game's screenshots.

It started out as a rumor on famitsu late last year, and then screenshots popped up here and surfaced there. They even delayed its original release date. But someone at Midway must have forgotten to give the official statement that Myst is coming to PSP.Midway finally remembered and announced that Myst for PSP is officially on its way. Myst is the latest epic adventure from Cyan Worlds that have thrilled PC gamers with its "emotive and visual feasts." The PSP version promises players even more. Midway says handheld development will engage the player like never before and literally take them to another world. Myst carries no instructions and clueless players begin a voyage of exploration on a mysterious and deserted island. Alone like Tom Hanks in that movie where he looked really filthy, gamers must set out to explore its grandeur and mystery. This is where the adventure begins to unfold. The island hosts more intrigue and injustice than Washington, DC. It defies all boundaries of space and time. Every action can somehow rescue an unfortunate individual stranded somewhere in a parallel dimension. The Myst adventure is a unique combination of lavish environments, puzzles, mazes, and a sizzling underlying drama. But the press release stopped here. More details about the game and release information will be made available shortly. After all, this is just the official announcement that Myst for PSP. But we said that already. |

Because Sega want to make sure the games meet "quality standards", they have pushed back the release of both Chromehounds for Xbox 360 and Myst for the Sony PSP. Previously set for May 25, Chromehounds is now due June 29, while Myst's going from April 20 to June 15. Developed by From Software (Armored Core), Chromehounds is the first next-generation Mech combat game with a strong focus on online play, cooperative or competetive. Battles incorporate tactics, communication and hands-on combat skills to same parts, with players either taking up the role of a Squad member or a Tactics commander.
If this decision results in more polished, bug-free games, it's certainly a wise one, as especially the PSP has been marred by buggy, rushed out titles in the past. |

Sega is posed to delay the release one of it's spring titles, Myst, for the PSP by almost two months as they make quality checks on the said game.Myst, a journey-based game set in an island world tinged with mystery, is expected to be a hit among Japanese gamers. It remains to be seen if the prolonged release will dwindle or fan Japan's interest. Videostores that have initially provided shelf space for the game's debut this coming April 20 will now have to wait until June 15, the date the game is scheduled to (hopefully) materialize. |
