A.D.A.M. is out this week!

If you've got some extra cash lying around and you just can't wait for the next homebrew game you're following to come out, the games below could provide you with much needed entertainment. They're all coming out this week, so you could check your local retailers if they've got them. Here are the PSP game releases:
  • Bomberman - The classic goes handheld. It's bound to be oodles of fun. Unless of course, Konami's brand of portable nostalgia isn't your cup of tea.
  • Bounty Hounds - Colonize other planets, kill up to 40 types of aliens, 500 weapons and armor types, this might be bucket-loads of third person action fun. We've got screens here if you want to see more of Namco Bandai's fun fun game.
  • LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy - And the LucasArts franchise continues...
  • NHL '07 - The expected yearly update from Electronic Arts. If you're not into this genre, bad news because it's mostly more of the same, but if you are, then good news, more of the same, but this time it is portable.
  • Rengoku II: The Stairway to HEAVEN - A.D.A.M. is back, and this time the android and makers Hudson Soft and Konami have got downloadable content for you to enjoy. Content aside, the game also features better stage design, an updated battle system, and up to 4 player wireless play. Android war action.
If you're not that much into handheld games but you like to watch a movie every now and then, say, while your teacher or boss is giving a very boring lecture, here are the PSP UMD ISO releases set for this week: The Best of Super Speeders; Gracie Legends in Action, Vol. 1; and Teddybear Crisis.

I'm a Mixed-Martial-Arts fan myself, so I think I'll be churning out some bucks for Gracie Legends. That's it for now. We'll keep you updated on the games listed above whenever we get word or discover something nifty.

And as we wind on down the road...Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has been real busy today, with one game announcement after another. This time, they're dishing out some android-busting action courtesy of Rengoku II: Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N.

This sequel to Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory expands upon the first game's fast-paced action, adding more than 300 unique weapon combinations and all-new level designs. The new multiplayer functionality also allows up to four players to engage in competitive combat through the PSP ad-hoc wireless system. Players can also wirelessly share portions of the game with other PSP owners to compete against friends that do not own the game.

Downloadable content including maps, weapons and items will be also made available through the PSP infrastructure mode, letting players continue A.D.A.M.’s quest in new environments with additional equipment.

The ascent begins when Rengoku II: Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N. hits shelves in October. For a sneak peek, check out the third trailer for this game here.

Rengoku II

Hudson Soft and Konami better have added some redeeming factor to this followup to Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory, which didn't actually made a very good impression on a lot of PSP gamers. Hopefully this one will go a different route.

You still take on the character of A.D.A.M (Autonomous Dueling Armed Machine), which in the past a very destructive and efficient weapon of war. Because peace has once again been restored, A.D.A.M have been deemed obsolete and banished into the tower of Rengoku. Rengoku is a place where war is in an eternal loop. One android will strive to change his fate by battling their way through the tower laying waste to the Seven Deadly Sins.

Changes made to this game according to Konami are:

  • Customizable character with new upgrades
  • New level design adds new challenges with interactive environments
  • Updated battle system makes ratchets up the action-oriented gameplay
  • Game sharing allows up to 4 players to battle with one UMD wirelessly.
  • Grotesque character designs by the famous illustrator Jun Suemi
  • Impressive main theme music is created by Hong Kong based composer, Chan Kwong Wing
Everything deserves another chance. You can start giving this game another look by downloading its official trailer via the download link below.

Rengoku 2, by Konami and Hudson, is the sequel to the android action game Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory on PSP. the game expands upon the series' trademark fast-paced action and incredible replay value with more than 300 unique weapons, diverse level design and additional multiplayer functionality in a dark and futuristic setting. Rengoku 2 tells a story parallel to the events of Tower of Purgatory, as players assume the role of A.D.A.M., a battle android trapped in a mysterious tower filled with fearsome enemies. This tower has eight floors, with the first seven levels corresponding to one of the original Seven Deadly Sins, and A.D.A.M. must purge it of the mechanical scourge hosted inside.

New screenshots for the upcoming PSP title, Rengoku 2: The Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N. have been released. The game is being developed by Hudson and will be out in stores on April 27th. The game is a mysterious, sci-fi-themed action-RPG with a robot battling to reach the top level of the Tower of Purgatory, the only exit to the said place. Hopefully it'll be a better game than it's predecessor.

The original Rengoku fired up a lot of hopes when it was first unveiled for the PSP a year ago, hopes that were quickly dashed by game's drab, dull graphics, lifeless story, ho-hum gameplay, shoddy controls... sigh,  just read the review. Many hoped some big changes would be made for the game's sequel, titled Rengoku II: The Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N.  Hudson seems to have listened, for one they're adding actual analogue support this time out, as well as larger, more open and more organic playing spaces and souped up graphics. Here's a taste:
