Building up the anticipation for Sega Rally Revo's release in the US (Europe got first dibs), new info, a teaser vid, and a bunch of fast paced screenshots
have been released for the racer. The new releases are all about the
first track players will race through in the game: the Safari
Environment.
The Safari Environment is setup on the plains of Africa, dotted with animals through a challenging landscape. Players will have to plow through lands ranging from the muddy to the dry. If players find the course too difficult at the least they'll have a pretty good time admiring the view while the other cars zoom past. Sega Rally Revo will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and PSP on October 9 for the US. Check out the rest of the screenshots in the full article. When it comes to making racing games, Sega is a veteran in the field. With its long standing Sega Rally racer series moving up to the next gen console, it's no wonder that they want to include some pretty extreme vehicles into the Sega Rally Revo line-up. Don't expect the typical box-type, saloon racing vehicles littering the race track, though. Keith Burden, the game's Lead Car Artist, features to us two new cars typical of Sega's unique line-up of vehicles in the series. Moving onto the extreme end of the line of rally cars, the Baja Dune Buggy all terrain vehicle offers a pretty alternative design to the conventional racers already featured in the past. Burden says that the best things about unlicensed vehicles like these are the fact that they have free rein over how it looks. The other vehicle in Burden's mini-car show features the Lancia ECV1 (Experimental Composite Vehicle). The company, best known for its experimental racing prototypes, doesn't disappoint anyone with this composite technology concept car. Sega Rally Revo is slated to come out for the PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and the PSP. People in the States can expect the game to hit shelves this October 9, so go ahead and strap on a helmet for this wild ride of a game. You can check out the rest of the concept artwork Keith Burden has for the game right after the jump! Apart from officially starting the countdown to the merry Christmas season, more imminent would be the countdown to the scheduled release of the new Sega Rally Revo. Well, at least for Europe that is. Revo's cars are all set to rev to their territory come the end of the month - September 28 to be exact. As for us, we're not bound to get our hands on them 'til October 9. But never you mind that bit of extra wait. We've already seen screenshots and gameplay videos, and it is without question that Sega Rally Revo's looking pretty interesting. If you've still got that Doubting Thomas hat on, why don't you go check out these new screens, then? There'll be more to follow, we promise you. Thanks to Michael for the tip! |

Sega Rally Revo is slated to come out in slightly more than a month from now, and the developers are on the last stages of development. This next-gen racer says it will literally break new ground in the genre and this video will tell you how. Check it out:
As you've heard, the geo-altering new engine will allow the unprecedented effect of tires etching the tracks into new shapes and forms as cars drive over it. The amount of ground shaken depends on the kind of motion taking place above it. This means that you'll never drive on the exact same track twice and the feel will be significantly different each time. European, Japanese and American cars will be up for the taking in this iteration of the Sega Rally series. Online play will also be available along with a slew of other options. Sega Rally Revo ships on October 9 for the Sony PlayStation 3, PSP, PC and Microsoft Xbox 360. |

While its big brothers (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC) are gearing up for release, the PlayStation Portable version of Sega Rally Revo also plans to hit the ground running on release. So, what's up with the PSP version of arcade coin-op racer's resurrection? We got info and some screenshots of the video game that you'll surely find interesting. Well, Sega has entrusted the development of the handheld version to Bugbear Entertainment, devs known for FlatOut. As of the moment, little information is known about Sega Rally Revo on the PSP, though IGN was able to dig up a couple of things. Reportedly, the racer will feature 34 cars and 16 tracks on different environments. Multiplayer can be done via Ad-Hoc play and online through infrastructure support (four players), plus Game Sharing for two players. The screenshots of Sega Rally Revo, on the other hand, show some fast racing on different types of terrain, ranging from slippery tracks coated with snow to muddy and dirty. Also, we see one on asphalt and others on dirt of different consistencies. Anyway, we'll bring you more Sega Rally Revo news and info when they become available, in the meantime, check out the screenshots. Enjoy!

We have introduced two modified cars (Peugeot Super 2000 and Citroen C2 Super 1600) from Sega Rally Revo's growing garage in our previous post, now meet the other members in the modified cars list: Grande Punto Rally S2000 and Toyota Celica VVTi. The Grande Punto Rally is getting good marks on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, and is quite competent in tackling various kinds of terrain - it's not strange to see a Grande Punto Rally in Sega Rally Revo sporting huge wheels for a road event, the switch to gravel spec wheels for the next safari event. It's that flexible. With its inherent good specs, there's nothing much on the Grande Punto that needs to be improved (it's still a prototype car), since apart from external changes such as roof mounted spoilers and front and rear bumper re-profiling, everything is fairly unchanged. And then there's the Toyota Celica VVTi, chosen for its excellent tuning and modifications. The coupe features a fast front wheel drive that works well in road settings. As a bonus for this modified car, there is a special unlockable livery that features a certain Sega icon, probably the same as the livery 3 for the Citroen C2 as mentioned in the previous article. Sega Rally Revo is up for release on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP, and is also slated as a mobile game title. Do check out this space for more updates! |

Sega Rally Revo (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP) is shaping up as one of the better racers across platforms. The IGN blogs featured this week a couple of "modified class" cars in the title. The Peugeot 207 Super 2000 and the Citroen C2 Super 1600 are in the garage, so let's go in there and meet them. The modified class cars in Sega Rally Revo and those in the real world rally for that matter are similar to the original manufacturer designs for the World Rally Championship except for one major distinction: All Super 2000s use a common control gearbox and drive train. This makes them easier on the pockets to keep running well with the 'thoroughbreds,' but doesn't sacrifice much velocity as speed remains the same in most cases. The same goes for the Citroen C2, which is often seen in 1600 rallies. It's very reliable and not too pricey to keep running. Sega tells us to keep a sharp eye on the unlock livery 3 as we may spot a popular Sega icon. In any case, enjoy the car models above and get ready to rev up your engines for Sega Rally Revo. |

Remember the days of the Sega Rally coin-ops? Well, Sega is looking to resurrect the arcade racing video game in next gen. Earlier, the official website was released for Sega Rally Revo and it basically has all you need to know about the upcoming game. Sega Rally Revo's official site features loads of stuff like game info, videos, screenshots, downloads, history, and blogs. They're all pretty much self-explanatory so we won't go into them all that much. The site is available in five different languages (English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian) so you probably won't have any trouble with the Flash on the site. Anyway, watch out for more news and info about Sega Rally Revo (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, Mobile and PC). Check out the official site by clicking on the link below. |

The people at Sega have a big third and fourth quarter ahead of them this year. With the release dates of 7 titles all falling within weeks of each other, they've got a lot of eager fans to please.
At least 3 PSP titles are set for release in the month of September. Alien Syndrome and Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars have been slated for September 7, while Sega Rally has its debut on the September 28. November 30 is the day being eyed for the release of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on the DS, as well as the DS/PSP tie-in game for the movie based on Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials novel series: The Golden Compass. In terms of unknown release dates, we have two. Sonic Rivals 2 for the PSP is expected to hit sometime in autumn, while Sonic Rush Adventure for the DS is due sometime in September. Sega has a daunting task to accomplish later this year. We certainly hope they pull it off. In the meantime, we'll keep you posted as the story unfolds. |

Sega Rally Revo is an arcade-style racer which takes players and their cars off the road and on to the dirt for an axle-breaking, fender busting ride that boasts of graphical superiority grown primarily on the Sony PlayStation 3 and ported to the Microsoft Xbox 360, PC and Sony PlayStation Portable.GamePro was able to see how the game looked first hand in its high-resolution glory and the respected game publication was all praises for what it saw. Running at 730p for next-gen consoles and moving at a lofty 30 frames per second, the visuals had a lot of bells and whistles to make it all look sweet. The move to tone down the frame rate, says GamePro, was based on the rationale of "freeing up extra horsepower for slick visual effects like real-time reflections (both on cars and wet roads) and high levels of anti-aliasing (the PS3 version had no visible "jaggies"...and believe us, we looked for them)." The development team also revealed that the game was originally developed only in the PS3 platform but was later ported to other systems. The devs handling the project are from the Rockstar North and Codemasters folds. The game is expected to be set loose sometime between the end of September and the middle of October this year. More than 30 cars and 24 tracks will be featured for high-octane fun on all of the platforms it will see action in. |
