Smash Court Tennis 3 slated for July 10 - Image 1

Fancy a game of tennis against Roger Federer or Maria Sharapova? If you do, then you'd do well to check out Smash Court Tennis 3. Namco Bandai has given word that it will be out for the PSP this July 10.

This game offers something different from what most people expect from tennis games. It has seven gameplay modes including the standard Arcade, Exhibition, and Pro Tour modes. The game also has a selection of mini-games such as Galaga Tennis and Pac-Man Tennis which should be good for breaking the monotony of regular singles or doubles matches.

Gamers who really want to be in the game are given the option of designing their own player. Namco Bandai really improved this aspect of the game with their inclusion of twice as many customizable items and attributes as compared to previous iterations of the game.

If by some chance you get tired of the single player game modes, multiplayer is available and has been made easier with only a single UMD needed in versus and mini-game modes. If you feel like checking it out,  Smash Court Tennis 3 has been rated "E" for everyone by the ESRB and will have an MSRP of US$ 29.99.

The Smash Court Tennis 3 demo is here! - Image 1

Well, you can forget about that whole "coming soon" business. Contrary to what it might say on Namco Bandai's website, it seems the demo for Smash Court Tennis 3 is finally out.

PSP Images managed to score a copy of the demo, which allows you to play a match, try the tutorial, or simply go through a minigame on your PSP. The demo is 16 MB in size, and requires the use of firmware 3.40 or higher, though you can try to see if it'll work on lower types of firmwares. Also, please remember to save in map UCED90036, just to be on the safe side.

In any case, have fun playing tennis. We'll be seeing you on the courts!

Smash Court Tennis 3 demo coming up - Image 1

Namco Bandai has an official website for its sports video game Smash Court Tennis 3. That is not the most interesting part here though, the meat of this post lies on the said site hinting a future demo for the tennis-themed video game.

Just like other official sites for any video game out there, the one for Smash Court Tennis 3 has different sections where fans can read about its various features and view profiles of the real-life tennis stars appearing in the game. Also, there's a dedicated media section where the true fanatics can download various wallpapers.

The demo section, however, is not yet fully operational. When you click on the link, a splash image will just appear carrying the words "Coming Soon". Too bad cause we're really kind of excited to get our hands on the game because of its various mini games featuring retro titles like Pac-Man and Galaga.

The Read link below will take you to Smash Court Tennis 3's official site. Meanwhile, Namco Bandai has mentioned a 2007 Q3 release across North America.

Smash Court Tennis 3 of Namco Bandai is shaping up to be a pretty solid title. It's not gonna rock your socks off, but looks functional enough for a tennis game. Having Pac-man in your game is pretty fun, but the top players battling it out sounds pretty good too. In the video we found, French star Gael Monfils battles it out against Spanish champion Rafael Nadal just like their Rome Tennis Masters Series match.

The animations are pretty good: the players move according to the ball's position. Game's flow is pretty fluid too, just like an actual tennis match. A couple of turn-offs would be how they move pretty much the same (like they're clones), and the failure of collision detection. There's a time when Monfils missed the ball but it was still returned.

Q3 2007 is still a few ways to go, so let's just hope they can put in a few improvements. Check out the video for yourself below:

Probably one of the more interesting features Smash Court Tennis 3 has to offer is the twist Namco Bandai gave to this age-old sport. In case you haven't heard yet, the video game has several modes like Pac-Man Tennis and another mode that pays homage to classic space shooter Galaga.

Those who prefer the game of tennis as it is need not worry because you are covered as well. Smash Court Tennis 3 offers a varied character customization feature aside from allowing fans to play as their favorite stars like Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova. Furthermore, all these established players will have their own corresponding style of play.

Smash Court Tennis 3 is the first entry in the series for the PlayStation Portable. Namco Bandai announced that the title will be available in Japan this coming June 21 and across North America in October. While waiting, why don't you check out the new screenshots below first?

Ever wondered what playing tennis in space would feel like? More so, ever wondered what playing tennis in a quasi 8-bit Zero-G court would feel like? Namco Bandai's cooking something for you, and it goes by the name of Smash Court Tennis 3. Now, in light of the previous Pac-Man course we've shown the other day, we've got something from GameTrailers that features yet another mode in Namco Bandai's tennis title: Galaga Tennis Gameplay.

As the name of the video implies, that's just what this mode is all about - getting to play tennis in a Galaga-themed court. The interesting catch in this mode is that you have to "catch" you opponent: win against them to make the alien invaders take him/her away. The background is a mix of 8-bit and 3D object, and can get trippy at times, but hey!, that's the fun of it, of course!

Here's another sneak peek at Namco Bandai's tennis videogame for the PlayStation Portable. We've seen the customization videos and some gameplay - here's to three more videos of Smash Court Tennis 3 to show us what's coming on Q3 of this year.

We see the various tennis courts of Smash Court Tennis 3 on the first video. The second one is more interesting as it has the Pac-Man tennis gameplay. No, it's not Pac-Man holding the racket - he's the ball. The court is overlaid with the typical Pac-Man set and players accumulate points according to how much Pac-Man eats. The points are awarded to the player who gets the normal tennis point. The last one features more courts and some pro play.

Anyway, we'll get you more goodies on Smash Court Tennis 3. In the meantime, check out the videos. Enjoy!
