If you're getting tired of seeing nothing but screens in our coverage of Snoopy vs. the Red Baron updates, then this post will be a refreshing change to your doggedly tired eyes. Namco Bandai has just announced the official date for Snoopy's takeoff in the lovable beagle's PSP game, and we got some details here on the role that players will get to take on as Snoopy hits the skies with Woodstock and the other Peanuts characters. Climb into the cockpit and take full control of Snoopy's Sopwith Camel as you hover through six free-roaming fields in search of clues as to where Red Baron's secret hideout lies. Smart Bomb Interactive made sure that the game won't just be your ordinary Snoopy-themed flight action game by also throwing in an aircraft customization feature where you can choose among 25 weirdly comical weapons and unlockable gadgets (which includes the user-guided Woodstock missile) that you can equip your aircraft with. The rest of the Peanuts gang will also be there, including Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Marcie, and Sally, giving you clues and tips on tracking down the Red Baron. The game also features more than 50 single-player and co-op missions and action-packed dogfights you'd have to claw and dig your way through. Snoopy vs. the Red Baron is scheduled for takeoff on October 24th and will sell for US $ 29.99. |

The world-renowned pet beagle in the long-running comic strip "Peanuts" has acquired the skill of flying in the upcoming title for PSP, Snoopy vs the Red Baron. Taking control of Sopwith Camel plane, Snoopy must battle the infamous Red Baron in a variety of aerial dogfights, missions and races. As for those who doesn't know, Red Baron is a Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen's moniker. Von Richthofen is a national hero of Germany and is the most successful fighter pilot of World War I. Will the lovable canine be able to track the Red Baron's whereabouts and defeat the flying ace in an aerial fight? Although not much info have been put into light about the game, some of the details include multiplayer modes in team and versus gameplay and battle modes. It also features 50+ single player missions and customizable planes flying across six unique environments. Set to be released this fall, Snoopy vs the Red Baron is a perfect game for kids of all ages as it features a simple control system. Aside from that, the visuals are vivid and colorful with aerial combats taking over waters and lands of the imaginary version of France. The game also features a variety of Charles Schulz' original "Peanuts" characters like Woodstock and Sally. Check out the bunch of new screens from the game: More screens after the jump! |

Okay, who remembers this?
"Up in the sky - a man in a plane - Baron von Richtofen was his name Eighty men tried - and eighty men died Now they're buried together in the countryside." If you recognized this as "Snoopy vs. The Red Baron" by the 1960's pop group, The Royal Guardsmen, you're either a lot older than most readers of this blog - or you must really kick butt at Trivial Pursuit. Gross historical inaccuracies aside (the real Manfred von Richtofen was neither an evil villain nor a "chivalrous knight" of the skies - he was simply a loyal soldier who happened to do his job exceptionally well), Charles Schultz' playful take on the Peanuts character Snoopy pretending to be a World War I flying ace, dueling with the "Bloody Red Baron" in the war-torn skies over France ca. 1917 was beloved by two generations of children. Game developer Namco Bandai's introduction of this legend to a new generation in its coming PSP/PS2 release Snoopy vs. The Red Baron may be old news (you can read about that one here), but they'll be exhibiting several other new titles at the upcoming Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. The expo will take place June 1st to 4th and Namco Bandai will be occupying Booth #111. Additional upcoming releases planned for the exhibit include Mobile Ops™: The One Year War, Naruto™: Ultimate Ninja, Zatchbell!™: Mamodo Fury, .hack//G.U. Vol.1: Rebirth™,One Piece™: Grand Adventure, One Piece™: Pirates' Carnival and Eureka Seven™ Vol. 1: The New Wave, Xenosaga® EPISODE III: Also sprach Zarathustra, Tales of the Abyss™, and the eagerly awaited Pac-Man World Rally™. You can check out some screenshots from PMWR below...I don't know about you, but to me they bear an uncanny resemblance to a game that was pre-loaded on my old i-Mac, Cro-Magnon Rally.

Featuring customizable aircrafts with over 25 weapons, team multiplayer, versus multiplayer, and battle modes will also be available with characters such as Woodstock, Linus, and Sally.
