Tomb Raider: Anniversary for the PSP - Image 1Today we have a huge bunch of new screenshots from the PlayStation Portable version of Tomb Raider: Anniversary (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation Portable, Nintendo Wii, PC). We really do mean huge, since there are 115 screenshots in total.

Due to the size of this screenshot update, we've zipped all of the images up. The screenshots feature Lara Croft in three of the game's five levels: Peru, Egypt and Greece. These levels are also the first three levels that players will go through in the game.

You can get the archive file containing the screenshots by clicking on the download link below. The PSP version of Tomb Raider: Anniversary is already out in the U.S. and will be available in Europe tomorrow.

Lara Croft - Image 1If you're infatuated with Tomb Raider heroine Lara Croft and you want her to be yours alone, you'd better be ready to shell out the big bucks because she doesn't come cheap. About GBP £ 300 (US$ 600 million) should do the trick, though.

Publisher SCi recently announced that it is open to being taken over by third parties, and by extension all its intellectual property including the popular Tomb Raider franchise which has thrilled gamers across three gaming generations.

Share prices of SCi jumped from 37.5p to 375.5p immediately after word hit the streets on the company's willingness to sell out. The most eligible suitors at this point are industry heavyweights Warner Bros., Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft.

Preliminary talks are now being held with interested parties but no details have leaked from the negotiations. What's certain, though, is that CEO Jane Cavanagh and property mogul Robert Tchenguiz will cash in on a very sweet deal.

The Tomb Raider franchise celebrated its 10th anniversary this year with the release of Tomb Raider: Anniversary, which is a remake of the PSX original on the Microsoft Xbox 360, PC, and Sony PlayStation Portable.

Here's the first few minutes of Tomb Raider Anniversary from Eidos Interactive. In this clip, we see Lady Lara Croft and his companion going up an ancient ruin. But being the resourceful gal that she is, not having a rope is not a problem at all as Lady Croft can always cling on to walls and perform acrobatic jumps and grappling.

Tomb Raider Anniversary is actually a re-mastery of the video game that appeared more than ten years ago. Much of the gameplay elements were retained alongside all the other features that made the original game a success. The developer, Crystal Dynamics, used an enhanced version of TR: Legend game engine on this remake.

Tomb Raider Anniversary has already been released in North America and Europe earlier this month.

Minnie Driver - Image 1Behold the new voice of Tomb Raider: Minnie Driver! The new "ReVisioned" series based on Tomb Raider's Lara Croft was launched by GameTap Retrospective in honor of the 10th anniversary of the release of the first game.  For more Lara Croft fun, the 10th Anniversary celebration will also release the Tomb Raider: Anniversary game on the PS2, Xbox 360 and the PlayStation Portable.

Seems like this delectable diva has been busy in the animation industry recently.  She also stars in the new Simpsons movie.  Probably the most spectacular demonstration of her voice was when she played Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera, an even bigger diva than she is in real life.  She has experience in voicing an animated character from before: she played Brooke Shields in South Park and Lady Eboshi in Princess Mononoke so our favorite heroine will be safe in her hands (and microphone.)

"ReVisioned" will premier on July 10 on GameTap.com.  A new episode will appear every week through August 23.  And hey, it's free!

Now that Eidos' Tomb Raider Anniversary is out on retail, this is probably the last trailer post on the game that you'll be seeing. Of course, last doesn't mean least, as these two videos do give you a decent preview/teaser of the best "remade" moments in the game. You'll see familiar stages, wolves, weird winged things, and that ever-so-memorable T-Rex.

Eidos Interactive's "Launch" trailer seems to be set on introducing the game to those who are new to the franchise, while the "Origins" video, as mentioned above, is set to give fans of the series good reason to, at the least, consider checking the remake out.

The embed's below, you know the drill.
