Actually, there are three bundles being advertised right now for Korea, and they're using some 'hot' ads to catch your attentions as well.

First Tekken movie teaser poster - Image 1News about the movie adaptation of the successful video game franchise Tekken from Namco Bandai are not entirely new. However, this next one is the most concrete so far with film website ComingSoon hosting the first teaser poster for the film.

Aside from that, ComingSoon was also able to get hold of some details regarding its development. Contrary to initial reports, ComingSoon stated that the Tekken movie isn't going to be directed by Anaconda's Dwight Little but by Charles Stone III - mostly known for movies Drumline, True, Mr. 3000, and Paid in Full.

We checked around the Internet and we found out as well that Little will be the director while Stone III is going to be part of the writing team. Well, the point is the two are very much involved in the making of the Tekken movie.

Speaking of development, it was mentioned that Sony Pictures' Screen Gems will be the one distributing the film. Moving on to the film itself, it is said to center on two childhood friends who entered the worldwide martial arts tournament where they will discover the dark secrets of the Tekken Corporation.

In case you are wondering, the the quotation that can be found at the top of the poster reads: "After the Great Terror Wars, governments fell... Seven corporations rose from the ashes to rule all men... Together they were known as The Iron Fist... The mightiest of which was... Tekken."

Any of you guys got a PSP Slim yet? Any of you running into minor hitches? Well, themacx seems to have stumbled upon some compatibility issue with Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. He sent in an email about the minor error and led us to a link of his YouTube video as evidence.

The error centers on loading game saves. In the video below, he boots Tekken 5 on both PSPs (PSP Slim on top, PSP Phat on the bottom) and after a while, his PSP Slim gets an alert: "This game data was saved on a different system and cannot be loaded. Start game anyway?" Check it out for yourself; it's just a quick 30-second video:

Right now, we're wondering about the extent of this compatibility issue. Are there other games whose saves won't work either? This one's stumped us. That and I personally don't have two UMDs of Tekken lying around to test this out.

Thanks to themacx for sending in the tip!

Jeanne d'Arc rallies to The Best in Japan - Image 1

Joining the queue of Japan's monthly "The Best" line-up are two PSP games that we're not surprised to find up there: Tekken: Dark Resurrection and Jeanne d'Arc. Both games will be re-released this July, each clocking under a budget-friendly price of ¥ 2,800 (that's a little over US$ 20).

While we're not surprised to see Tekken in the list, what's cool to note here is that Level 5's Jeanne d'Arc hasn't even been released in North America yet, and it seems to have gotten some good reception in Japan already - they got it way back since November of last year, so it's about time this title got tagged to "The Best" list.

Does this mean we can expect a lot from Milla Jovovich's resurrection on the PSP when it comes out in the US this August? Well, if it's now one of Japan's best titles, Jeanne d'Arc could have a warmer reception in these waters.

Namco Bandai - Image 1Here's a quick update for Namco Bandai and its third quarter financial results: overall profits jumped by 112%, all because of several PS2 titles as well as handheld games Tekken: Dark Resurrection (0.84 million PSP copies sold) and Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 2 (0.79 million DS copies sold).

If you want to know, the best selling game was Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for the PS2 (1.03 million copies sold). We're pretty sure the company is celebrating right now. And just to give you an idea how well it performed, here's a breakdown of the results:
  • For the three month period, revenues were ¥ 330.52 billion (US$ 2.77 billion) up 96 percent on the same period in 2005.
  • Profit rose by 112.3% to ¥ 19.89 billion (US$ 166.6 million).
  • The newly merged company's home video games business saw sales rise by 95%, from ¥ 43.22 billion (US$ 362.1 million) to ¥ 100.22 billion (US$ 839.3 million).
  • Operating profit (net profit data was not revealed per division) rose by 77 % from ¥ 7.73 billion (US$ 64.7 million) to ¥ 9.58 billion (US$ 80.2 million).
Well, an raise in profit increase doesn't always translate to better games in the future, but we can always hope. There's really nothing much to say right now except "Kudos to Namco Bandai and with all that money, we hope you don't forget about your fans."

Here's another Tekken video for the PS3 fans. No, it's not Tekken 6 just yet - it's a gameplay video of the PS3 port for Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection that's arrived in Japan last December. The game can be bought on Japan's Playstation Store for ¥ 2000 ( roughly $ USD 17), and is worth about 850 MB of memory on the PS3's HDD.

And while we're still waiting for news on a U.S. release of the game, we invite you to sit back and watch. The port's going to be launched in 1080p, so expect it to be quite a view. And how do we know it's Tekken 5: DR? For starters, it's got Lili and Dragunov in the starting bout...
