Thumb - Image 1Last week's list offered a handful of gaming gems that are now being offered for mere change but definitely don't deserve to be thrown into the bargain bin. This time around, we're going to see similar games, most of them calling forth fond memories of old school arcade gaming. Here's a clue: Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins. Capcom arcade games. Mega Man. Reminiscing now? Hit the full article for the list.

While Japan will be having it starting August 2, Capcom has yet to confirm release dates for other markets of the revised version of Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins. Truth be told, even we are not certain if the company has any plans at all to ship it in other regions. But believe us when we tell you that we have our fingers crossed as well.

Anyway, the improved Ghosts 'n Goblins will feature a lot of changes from the original version which was released last year. Some of these concern game continues being limited this time, magic changed into a charge attack, as well as the double jump ability now being available from the get-go.

The game features the story of Arthur and his quest to destroy the horde of enemies. Gameplay is not at all linear as the title allows players to use branching points and warp points in order to skip or go back to previous levels to collect missed items. Despite having a "3D" tag, Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins is still a side-scroller.

Goku Makaimura Kai scans - Image 1

The last time we heard from the PSP remake of Capcom's hellishly difficult platformer (where you play a Knight jouncing around the world of the undead in his underwear), we learned that it was getting a second revision in the form of Goku Makaimura Kai. Now, here's the scans from Famitsu that tell quite a lot about what's new in this revamp of the classic remake for the PlayStation Portable.

As the previous article has already reported, there's quite a few advantages given at the start that could mean a higher degree of difficulty. For instance, players are now blessed with the ability to double-jump right off the bat. Players can also pick up new weapons or play each stage in any order of their choosing. There's also the bit about magic being a charged attack in the game, too.

One of the scans also reveal the different suits of armor Sir Arthur could wear. They certainly look regal - that samurai armor suit does look a tad evil, though.

Updates about the re-remake of Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins as we get them. Enjoy the scans.

Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins - Image 1Video game news site 1UP reports that a revised version of Capcom's Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins is being prepped for a release on Sony's PSP handheld system.

According to the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, the revised version of the game will be released in Japan under the title Goku Makaimura Kai.

1UP notes that the game will be more similar to the series' arcade format. Continues will be limited and the ending will only be attained after completing the game twice. Magic will also be a charged attack in the new game.

Deviating from last year's PSP exclusive, which had players gaining more and more abilities such as the double jump as the game progressed, the new revision will reportedly have the double jump ability at the outset. Players can also pick up new weapons and play each stage in different orders.

No North American release date has been set for this new title. Last year's Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins saw release outside Japan, so this new revision could also see a similar release. Importers can also choose to pick up a copy when it hits Japan on August 2.

As it was released last August 29, Ultimate Ghost n' Goblins is already being tried by many gamers. This is very expected as its fan-base dates itself back even to the Capcom's retro title of this adventure game.

As promised, Ultimate Ghost n' Goblins still is in side-scrolling perspective despite it already having 3D graphics. A good storyline, improved graphics of characters and environment - all these things expected of a PSP game delivered and more.

Capcom released its very own gameplay video so we basically know the look and feel of this revamp version. But to those who still don't have their copies yet, here's another gameplay footage sent by Mikey (thanks!). It will be remembered that Mikey also sent in a Pocket Racer gameplay video.

Ghouls n Ghosts

The release of PSP title Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins has been moved to next week - Tuesday, August 29, instead of in the first week of September as we previously expected. The portable revamp of Capcom's classic title follows the trend of retro games which we all used to play and love but got bored of, coming back under a slightly different name and hitting the console charts.

Of course, the new revamp of this cult classic contains a 3D graphics engine as you would expect from a PSP title, a branching storyline, and of course more detailed characters and environments. The adventure will see hero Arthur move across five stages, (complete with those immortal bosses) in his slightly cheesy quest to save the princess. Old Ghosts n' Goblins fans will be pleased to hear that despite the new 3D graphics engine, the gameplay remains a side-scrolling affair so it won't differ too much from the old game you know and love.

After its release in Japan this August, Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins had many of its US fans looking forward to September when Arthur and his ghouls and goblins and other creepy-crawlies reach US shores.

So, to whet that appetite even further, we would like to present the Japanese trailer of the PSP version of this side-scroller. As usual, we see Arthur doing that funny little run of his as he gets chases, roasts and toasts paranormal baddies... well, it's him doing the chasing and the roasting and toasting most of the time anyway.

Ultimate Ghosts 'n GoblinsFeel like taking on some ghastly ghoulies? If so, then you guys might consider checking out Capcom's Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins for the PSP. The game was just released in Japan two days ago (the game will hit US shelves in early September), and is the first game in the series to employ 3D graphics. Don't be misled by the "3D" tag, as Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins still plays in a side-scrolling perspective.

Again, players step into the (probably very smelly from all that running around) shoes of Arthur. Hack, slash, and magic your way through a horde of enemies, building up skills and abilities as you progress. The non-linear gameplay allows you to use branching points and even warp points to skip or go back to previous levels to collect missed items.

Enough with the formalities and on to the action! Enjoy the dungeon romp, guys.

In Capcom's Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins, Sir Arthur is sent back to the demon world to continue his relentless pursuit to save the beautiful princess. Using 3D graphics with a 2D perspective, the game re-creates a creepy world overrun by evil creatures ready to pop out from the ground, treetops, and perhaps from the bloody swamp! Every item and character in the game (save for Sir Arthur) seems to be possessed by evil spirits, which makes each game level tougher to finish. If you think the old Ghosts 'n Goblins games were hard, well, the PSP version isn't getting any easier. The difficulty of the game might just send you to the madhouse, but that's a better option than flinging your beloved PSP against the wall if and when you die repeatedly in the game.

Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins will haunt your PSP in September. But before you start hurling medieval weapons at zombies, grim reapers and evil creatures, check out these spine-tingling screens from the game.
