Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth to become available in PAL territories - Image 1

Square Enix Ltd. is happy to announced that European fans, and the others from the rest of the PAL territories, will finally get their hands on the the much-talked about Valkyrie Profile series: Lenneth for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and Silmeria for the PlayStation 2 (PS2). For now, we will be focusing on Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth.

The video game has been available in North America for a couple of months now and what more can we add but it's about time Square Enix does this. When you really think about it, it is possible that the PSP is not really lacking in good games. It's just that publishers need to release the existing ones in more markets.

Anyway, we really had fun playing Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, if you want to know the truth. But the benefit of those who haven't played it yet, the video game is actually based on Norse mythology. Players take on the role of Lenneth, a valkyrie sent by the All-Father Odin to Midgard to recruit worthy allies in the upcoming Ragnarok.

Good RPGs always have a twist and this video game has one as well. We won't tell you though what exactly but it concerns the real identity of Lenneth. Anyway, we listed down the game's other worth mentioning features below for reference. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will be available in PAL territories on April 27.

Features:
  • Classic RPG in the palm of the hand: Experience the adventure in the living room, on the road, or outdoors
  • A heart-wrenching tale of honor, courage, and purpose in the afterlife: Follow the fallen heroes as they pursue honor in the next life
  • Time-based story progression breeds a non-linear experience where actions determine the outcome of Ragnarok: Recruit well and Valhalla is saved, recruit poorly and destruction looms
  • Encounter 24 unique characters with deep levels of customization
  • Multiple endings that are revealed based on crucial world-altering decisions

Issue 13

Thanks to Mof and Optimus Prime, we've got yet another fun issue of PSP Galaxy, which brings us more news, reviews, and their own funny little blurbs, all in a neat little package for your PSP. In addition to information on the Crisis Core game based on Final Fantasy VII, the two intrepid writers have brought us a ton of gaming goodness.

In this issue, they've given the mag a makeover and a pretty interesting apocalyptic feature article, which talks about a world without a PSP. Scary! They've also offered up some reviews of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, a PSP port of the PS1's Valkyrie Profile, as well as Tenchu: Time of the Assassins.

Anyway, what are you waiting for? Grab a copy for download now!

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, PSP's take on Norse Mythology, is set in the realms of the warrior gods known as Asgard. Asgard is forever in the middle of the struggle for power between good guys Aesir and the bad guys Vanir. As the world nears doomsday, Odin, Lord of Asgard, summons Lenneth Valkyrie to recruit and train the souls of worthy mortal warriors to join the Aesir army in the Sacred War.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is a PlayStation Portable port of the original PlayStation game Valkyrie Profile first released on March 2, 2006 in Japan and later in America. The main feature of the PSP version is the full motion video which replaces or adds to the scenes in the earlier game. Among the the new scenes are Jelanda's transformation into a monster and the first meeting of Brahms. Lenneth on PSP also features combo attacks, a unique side-scrolling environment, and new scenes that link the old with the new storyline. Check out the trailer and see how breathtaking this PSP game will be!

PSP and UMD

Here's the lowdown on all the PSP releases for this week, beginning July 17th. This list includes both UMD movies and UMD games. UMD movies you say? Yes, despite UMD movies coming off the shelves of most popular stores, somebody was still foolhardy enough to release a UMD movie title this week. Check them out:

UMD Movie releases:
  • Road House
Both Stacked and Miami Vice get my vote for this week. The images and gameplay shown in previous screenshots and press releases amaze me, and both would be a good buy in my opinion. However, Road House on UMD Movie? If you can find it in a bargain bin of some store which is getting rid of it' UMD Movie collection that's probably been there since the PSP was released, then go ahead. Otherwise, buy the DVD.

15 Most Anticipated PSP Games

Remember when people could use the PSP's once anemic game library against you in console flame wars? Well thanks to games like Lumines, Exit, Daxter, Syphon Filter, Mega Man Powered Up and Burnout Legends (to name just a few) that argument no longer holds much water. If however, you hear someone beginning to pipe up, you can simply point them in the direction of this little list of promising future PSP titles. Yum!

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth

With all the buzz of E3 occupying our minds, here's another 'dreamy' set of screens for the upcoming Square Enix title, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. The game provides a fantasy-filled storyline (see the FF connection?) with Odin, Lord of Asgard, waging war against the Aesir's worst nemesis, the evil Vanir. Seeking for mortal reinforcements, Odin tasked Lenneth Valkyrie to roam Midgard in search of worthy warriors that could aid them in the war of the gods.

Originally a PlayStation title, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will fly towards the PSP boasting of top-of-the-line CG cut scenes that highlights the awesome combo attacks and overall gameplay. New angles are being looked at to connect the original story to the PSP installment. Since we won't be able to get our hands on this game for a while (said release would be before 2007), let's try to appease that excitement by ogling over these screens.

This classic Playstation title is coming to the PSP later this year. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is an updated version will include new CG cutscenes as well as other graphical enhancements. Being a fan favorite and a rare gem on the PS, this version is getting the respect and treatment it deserves. The game has a large following behind it and the PSP game is receiving the same fanfare. Being a hardcore RPG, Valkyrie will definitely appeal to the fans of the genre, but since it's a remake of the original, there have been little improvements to the gameplay.
