psp 2.6So you think your pretty unfortunate since you are just blessed with a PSP 2.6, since you're being left out from all the fun that the 1.5ers are getting? Well, since the 2.50/260 downgrader is already here, that shouldn't be the case anymore. Unless you are afraid that you will mess up the instructions and brick your PSP. Well, that's your call.

Anyways, just to say that the 1.5 owners don't get all the fun (actually they do, since the release of the latest devhook), homebrew developer, Slasher, concocted a simple gameboot.pmf flasher for 2.60 FW. This app was based on the work of hitchikr, neural, DarK_AleX, Yoshihiro, and Mathieulh.

According to Slasher, all you have to do is "simply put the gameboot.pmf in the root of your memorystick, run the program, and it'll flash it directly to your flash0:/vsh/resources/ folder." With that you're all good!

Also, the good developer informed us about some security checks and other info about this app. Security checks include the following:

- Checks if AC adapter is plugged in
- Checks if gameboot.pmf is actually placed in the right location
- Avoids flashing if something goes wrong

* After running the program; if there's an error, it will return to eloader; if it's successful, your psp will be restarted.
* If disc read error pops up, all you need to do is turn off your psp, then turn it back on. If that doesn't work, then take battery out for 5 mins then put it back in.
* Works on TA-082 PSP mother boards

He also would like to convey that there's always a risk of bricking your psp while flashing something. Although this has been tested and confirmed working remember that you are using this at your own risk. QJ.net and the developer won't be held responsible if your brick your PSP with this software.

He also says that the MAX gameboot.pmf size is 1mb, although he isn't 100% sure with that. But he asks you to please avoid flashing gameboots that are any larger. If you flash anything larger than 1 mb, you may end up with a brick.

And as a sign of a good developer, he wishes to extend his thanks to those who helped him along the way: to TMK (TheMarioKarters) for the idea, and for helping him test the app. As always, your constructive criticisms, opinions, and suggestions will be very much appreciated so let 'em flow through your comments.

 » cool, but...

anyone who needs this is reallty missing the poitn and missing out.

You can downgrade and unlock FULL modding capability and STILL RUN 2.6 WITH DEVHOOK ON 1.5!!!!

What do you lose? nothing, nothing at all! You only gain form downgrading 2.6!

 » just 1 question....

   by overflow.tiff - 2006-07-11
 » -_-

enough with the spamming of "2.5/2.6 downwgrader"!!
not EVERYONE gets a taste of 1.5. i mean c'mon, if you think about it, alot more people are getting PSPs NOW!
resulting in TA-082 mobos! i've already bricked 2 PSPs trying to get the downgrader working on TA-082 mobos.
thanks to gamestop for taking them back thinking the PSPs were new AND defective. now i got 2.5 and i'm not about to brick this one. seriously, you people act like everybody's PSP can be downgraded no matter what.

   by calo (Unregistered) - 2006-07-11
 » stupid

this could brick your psp just like the downgrader could.

so whats the point of it take the chance and downgrader its cwell better down here.

downdater in the root and the other two eboots in the game folde how stupid could uses really be?

   by overflow.tiff - 2006-07-11
» not trying to spam, just making my point.

one more thing! they pretty much made TA-082 motherboards specifically for disabling downgrader capability. i also heard that its got something to do with the interrupt priority level, meaning those mobos are IMPOSSIBLE TO DOWNGRADE! or maybe there is another way....another downgrader release. but that would just be pointless.
we need Colonel Loader or maybe Colonel eLoader.
cuz kernel dont sound "spicy"

 » I don't understand

Is this a downgrader? Is this a thing which changes the PSP version?

Is it just a thing to change the opening video?

Could someone please explain it?

 » Info

- TA-082 PSP Mother Boards can NOT be downgraded. It's very simple actually, these mother boards were designed specifically to not accept the 1.5 IPL, therefore, if you attempt to downgrade, you WILL get a brick. ex) http://forums.qj.net/showthread.php?t=57248&page=1

- This app is purely meant for the unfortunate people that have a TA-082 mother board, and can't downgrade. I haven't forgotten about you guys ;)

- This is almost 100% fool proof, and I've added all the security checks imaginable. This app has nearly a 100% chance of not bricking your psp.

- Have fun ;)

TO ANSWER YOU GUYS QUESTION.. THIS CHANGE YOUR GAME BOOT INTRO.. DOWNGRADE YOUR PSP.. ITS BETTER ;)

2.50 --> 1.50

1.50 4 EVER!

 » SHUT UP AND LISTEN!

Okay. I have had it with all this misinformation spreading around.

1. The downgrader DOES NOT work with TA-082 PSPs (the ones with IC1003 written on the mobo where you can see it when you open the UMD bay w/o a UMD in there). This is because ALL TA-082 PSPs came with v2.5 or higher, so Sony got smart and mad all of those mbos not accept any firmware < 2.5. Therefore, IT WILL NOT WORK!

2. This program WILL WORK on TA-082. It's not changing the version to < 2.5, so no problem.

3. The modchip will ALSO not work on TA-082. This is because of something else, though, TA-082 uses a voltage of 1.8V, the modchip can only use 3.3V, and 3.5V, which are used by the older mobos.

Next time, get your facts straight!

 » Devhook

I don't really know wether the devhook will work or not, but common sense tells me that this program would just write to the 2.6 firmware on your mem card, so yeah. If you want a gameboot modifier for your 1.5, just split this EBOOT (not sure if that will still work) or use use any other program that does that function. X-Flash prolly does (I don't know, I have 2.71). And, yes, I am too lazy to show you a link. GOOGLE.

 » Come on

just downgrade to 1.5 and use Devhook stop being scared and do it,Ive done it 3 times and no PSP has bricked.

 » basically

this will allow you to change the white psp loading screen whenever you go into a game, not the psp starting up. Devhook users dont need this caus you can just overwrite it for which ever firmware your emulating, also works with the fonts. and also overflow.tiff knows what hes chatting about, ta-o82s cant be downgraded.

   by ahnp - 2006-07-11
 » downgrading

if you do have a ta-082 do not listen to anybody telling you to downgrade it, it really aint worth it and some c()nts out their would laugh at your expense
