This is about the dumbest thing I have ever seen for the PSP, right behind the web based interfaces to emulate Windows XP and Mac OS look.
Lets see what we have here shall we? Lets emulate a touch screen interface device on a non-touch screen device. Yeah, and lets make them try to remember how to use the controls sideways, and have them look real close to try and figure out which little icon is selected since they can't tap the screen. Finally, lets let them run dumb little games and apps that they would never actually use just to say, "Hey, we created the iPhone on the PSP, although it is completely dumb and can not do a damn thing usefull... hurray for us"
If this was a proof of concept kind of thing, fine... but the amazing thing is... it made it to version 4 and another team took up where the first one left off... like it was a torch worth carrying.
Why in the hell does someone feel we need a newer version of this?I doent know who to give a violent shove down the stairs to first, the developers or the people who use it
i wouldn't call it stupid like jbardi... but more deceptive.
so far, all it is, is a portal. an interface made to look like something else. i don't care much for that.
the name iPSPhone however has the name "phone" in it... and until it ACTUALLY uses phone capabilities... that is rather deceptive.
if the iPSPhone actually used Skype or furikup(sp?) or something of its own to allow "calling" someone through the PSP... then the name would make more sense.
and like i said WAY back when the original version came out... the one MAJOR thing it lacks (inherit in all PSPs, for now)... no touch screen. and the touch screen was the major selling point of the iPhone.
i wish i could contact them, and ask why they have not made this compatible with the touch screen made for the PSP, the thing only costs 20$. this ap alone would make the touch screen worth buying
The only good part of this app is the pixfix. That is if you have a pixel that needs to be fixed. Having to turn the PSP on its side sucks and the clock looks like its from 1983. The program just needs better apps on it.
This fixes stuck pixels?? Please tell me your not kidding!
I have worked with DGGC92 and know much about his project. First of all yes it does fix STUCK pixels not broken ones. Second its coded in LUA and therefore is impossible to make compatible with the touchscreen. Lastly I'd like to say that this could well be improved to work as a shell once Insert_Witty_Name releases the next LUA player.
Oh also its not an internet portal.
someone should make a PSP iphone ap that can use the touch screen, or even just a media player that uses that thing
they should make it where its compatible with Skype and Furikup. it would be so much better and the name would make PERFECT sense!
Ok, so maybe calling it "dumb" was a bit over the top. But, as I said, as a proof of concept idea, it would be great, for instance if Sony decided to add touch screen capabilities to the next PSP, then the iPSPhone team would be a step ahead of of the game, but as that is not likely to happen, then at the very least, this could be used as portal, which would be fine.
However, the fact that the PSP does not have touch screen means there is no reason for an exact duplication of the iphone layout, therefore, in order to make it usable for PSP users, you have to redesign the interface horizontal rather than vertical. Holding the PSP sideways is just asinine as its ergonomic design is to be held horizontal. This is much like the Sony Sixaxis controller for the PS3 trying to emulate the features of the Wii Remote, however, the Sixaxis controller does not have an ergonomic design to be held sideways either.
Also, the main interface requires you to hold with the right side down, yet some of the apps and games are upside down forcing you to turn it a 180 so that the left side is down. Just over all, it seems that with a version 4 of a proof of concept interface, there was not a lot of communication between the developers as it looks thrown together and of little use.
