iR Shell Screenshot

AhMan has stopped by our forums to inform us of a new iR Shell release. iR Shell is, without a doubt, the most functional PSP shell out, and is also one of the most impressive homebrew applications I have ever laid eyes on. iR Shell comes complete with a sinkable interface, IR remote, file browser, music player, picture viewer, launching of 1.0 eboots on 1.50 PSP's, taking important screenshots and many, many more features!

iR Shell, like many other "shells" only work properly on 1.50 PSP's (and some on 1.0 as well). I feel in love with this application as a simple snapshot program for the PSP, but seeing it evolve over the year to what it is now is definitely no easy feat to accomplish! This new version of iR Shell includes the following additions -
  1. Support 1.0 Eboot format. (Note: The APP view will not list Eboots for 2.x Homebrews that are designed to be launched from Devhook firmware emulation.)
  2. Support for __SCE__ naming convension.
  3. Both 1.0 Eboot & SCE naming can be enabled or disabled under iR Configurator. If you don't use these naming convensions, you can turn them off for a faster APP view list.
  4. Allow removal of startup splash screen (configurable under iR Configurator).
  5. nethostfs server v1.5 is enhanced to allow read only access. This means you can open your PC server to the public without worrying files being deleted. Refer to the user guide for details.
  6. File Manager has been enhanced to support mulitple files/directories selections similar to MP3. You can use CIRCLE key to hightlight multiple files or directories and then perform file manipulation on them. You can highlight maximum of 10 files or directories. The mulitple selection will only work under DIR & RDF View. It won't work for APP & SAV views.
  7. The location of each view (DIR, APP, RDF & SAV) will be remembered after toggle. Example, switching from DIR View to APP View and back to DIR View. The directory & cursor location will return to its original location before you left. Pls note MP3 Shortcut & DIR Shortcut are also classified as DIR View.

» Great but still lacks some stuff

First of all I have to say thanks to IrShell author that put a lot of efford and excelent work on this app.

Since 2.0 I use it a lot and worth the work done on it! Well done!

One thing I just f**** LOVE: Infraestructure emulation with Adhoc and web-as-ms redirection!!! Though there are some things that I think it still lacks to make it *my* shell.

1st: the lack of web viewer and internet streaming
2nd: the lack of a video player (I put PSPlayer MT as a plugin and network redirected as MSDUO and it works reazonably well) so I can watch .3GP / .AVI / WMV / ...
3rd: the lack of a MSN compatible program
4th: no good picture slideshow
5th: high ping / slow (or no cache) on PC browsing/listing/loading
6th: PC Controler by WiFi like Bluetooth Remote Controler 2.0 (http://www.blueshareware.com). This app allows JAVA mobiles to SEE (yes SEE and we can choose Zoom Level) PC screen and to move mouse. It "captures" the screen as we see it, compresses the image and send it over Bluetooth to the mobile. It like Remote Desktop but thru BT.

PSP with a 333Mhz chip, 480x272 screen and WiFi is A LOT better than a crappy 120-200Mhz / 220x176 / BT mobile phone and itīs A LOT useful.

Itīs just a "wish list".

 » I forgot

I just forgot :P

7th: html/mht/swf (the last file type are FLASH files, for now only readable by PSPīs internal internet browser) reading and better PDF support (only a few PDF work, lots of them donīt)

Also I would like to say that this cosmetic change from 2.0 -> 2.1 is nothing but great!

 » 1st post

its about time he supported __SCE__ naming format, i might actually use this now

 » HEY MMICK!

1st: if you want a web viewer IN irshell SO badly then drop the contents of the non % folder of the links2 browser into the IRSHELL/HOMEBREW/RDOWN folder and quicklaunch it from iRshell whenever you want.
2nd: it PLAYS PMP files already, AND it can launch the XMB AND Devhook if you so Desperatly want to view those movie files and toggle back and forth, and YES it is possible to run iRshell under devhook I believe it just takes a little skill
3rd: huh? who cares launch something like that from a devhook portal they are out there
4th LIAR. its in there, use the one in the XMB if you're so demanding
5th:go look at the nethostfs.exe options
6th: again, go find that program and make it a quicklaunch app if you want it in there so much
7th Go load up the devhook 2.71 firmware emulator and view that kind of stuff. you have the option

DAMN dude

» How on earth did you pass your Highschool english classes?

We type for speed, and who cares anyway? Whats wrong with typos, were not perfect. Now, if you really want to be that much of a control freak... take it up with God...

 » HEY Illegal Machine

1st: "drop ... links2 browser ... and quicklaunch"
I want iRShell, not another software. Also I find Links2 lacking several stuff and annoying usage.

2nd: "it PLAYS PMP files already..."
I didnīt said PMP. I want divx_xvid/.3gp/.mp4/.mpg to watch my videoclips/movies without converting and inside IrShell

3rd: "who cares launch something like that from a devhook portal" (talking about MSN messenger)
Devhook portal? Iīm confused... what are you talking about? X5?

4th: "LIAR. its in there" (picture slideshow)
I said a good (and fast) one.

5th: I will check it.

6th: "again, go find that program" (about BT Remote Controler). Dahhh of course if I found one I already used it!

7th: "Go load up the devhook 2.71"
So, your solution for this one and basically the others is:

1- load irshell
2- find 1xx independent programs and add each single one to plugins
3- run each one of them as I do on XMB (and leave them) for each single file I want to play
4- back to irshell from those programs...

In case you didnīt understand me, I would like (and I think author too) a IrShell that playback (natively) every single file, in same UI, with same controls, fast and clean like XMB but XMB is just too "short". IrShell depends too much of external programs and, if some feel an extension of iRShell, others are just too different and make us feel that we left IrShell.

 » Kind of noobish question

I was able to use nethost with ease on v2.0, I am having a difficult time in 2.1 now.

"Error: Can't connect to Network Host"

My Nethost IP (Adhoc) is correct, port 7513 is correct, but what do I put for XMB Network for Nethost? Home? and Nethost IP? mydomain.com? I am a little confused here. nethostfs 1.5 did not come with any instructions.

Thanks if you can help.

Other than that, I like the highlight multiple files functions. :)

 » ok MMick

Yes, there are MSN related apps that work through portals "LIKE" X5,

if you would like to view those types of files I suggest you use PiMPStreamer by *****y *****. it streams, converts, and does it all from a remote source, and pretty much works like a location free player if you know how to configure it properly. I added it as a quicklaunch app for iRshell, and I like it like that.

If you would like the slideshow to be faster then enter the configurator, and set the speed to 1 second.

I never said PLUGINS, I said quicklaunch apps and they do launch QUICK.

Im not going to sit here and train you to properly use this program any longer.. if you don't like it then STFU, this program is CLEARLY number 1 and just because YOU can't use it or know how to make it do what you want it to then again STFU.

but the FACT is that your whole wishlist makes it look like irshell can't do these things and it CAN

 » Pretty good but........

I prefer shells like Psp-OSS. I think the Irshell interface is way too clutterred but I do like the background alot. I doubt that I could do better but hopefully a shell that functions like Irshell with the ease of use of Psp-OSS will come out.
