iR Shell v3.62 update released - Image 1

The latest version for iR Shell has just been released! As AhMan himself says, this is more of a "maintenance" sort of release, but regardless, it's still pretty big news because it virtually fixes all incompatibility issues with Team M33's latest custom firmwares. Here's the full changelog for iR Shell v3.62:
  • Now fully compatible with Team M33 3.52-3 & 3.52-4 CFWs.
  • Enhance the alarm clock function to support PSP suspend mode which means the alarm will still be triggered while your PSP is under suspend mode (sleep mode). The alarm volume will always be at max and is independent of your PSP volume settings. You will still hear the alarm even if you've muted your PSP volume. Thanks to Adrahil for providing the alarmlib source code to illustrate how the magic is done.
AhMan also says that the new feature shown in the video we saw a few weeks back isn't part of this release yet. The feature which allows 2 Player PS1 games via usbhostfs (using 2 PC joysticks with remotejoy output) is still a work in progress, and the video only serves as a proof of concept. More notes are available in the readme file, as well as in the forum link. For those interested in helping AhMan, he leaves us with a quick note to the homebrew community:

I'm currently working on 2-player PS1 game support via 2 PSPs using WiFi adhoc and I need to purchase a 2nd PSP for testing. If you want to help, you can use the following link to make a paypal donation. To show my appreciation, those who donate more than US$10 will be added to a private support forum from which you will have access to earlier beta builds and support. Since the release of iR Shell 3.6, I've received 2 donations. Thanks to Jeffrey Y. and Toan L.

» nice thing, but i got some questions:

1) will it work without the patcher? (pspbtncnf) i think i already run this patcher before updating to m33 but i'm not sure. will trying to run irshell without patching before be ok?

2) can i output the screen of the psp to the pc (to use the pc-monitor as a display for the psp) with this? i do not mean psx, i mean the xmb and/or official games

   Re: jmp478 (Unregistered) - 2007-09-08
 » 1- yes 2- kinda

What does number 2 have to do with IRShell?

   Re: somebody - 2007-09-08
 » er..

this version of irshell supports psx-video output psp to pc, so i wanted to ask if psp games would work, too. i tried with that remotejoy thingy but it didn't work

   Re: Bountyhunter53 (Unregistered) - 2007-09-08
 » question 1 answered

you should run the patcher if you have flashed your psp after you ran the patch on the first time. irShell will run without patching but doesnt automatically boot after you exit a game or application

 » Plz Help.

If you can afford to send this guy some money, please do. I donated ten US dollars a while back and was shocked to hear that he had received far less than 100 U.S. Dollars in donations up to that point. This is a shame. I know these guys do this for free, but that is all the more reason to help them out if/when you can. When I get another job (lost mine because I couldn't relocate to another state) I will be donating to Deniska (Map This) for the first time and Ahman for the second.

I know a lot of you are young and can't donate for lack of jobs/money but if you can spare something, please do. BTW, I am in no way affiliated with either of these programmers. I am simply a man who believes in giving back to those who give to me. If you get pleasure out of any programmers homebrew (not just Ahman or Deniska), consider giving back to them.

Thanks for your time

AJ

 » little long winded but

i whole heartedly agree with you, if we all gave up 5 bucks ahman would be most likely giving us more public releases :) and have more incentive to brew this up to perfection.

 » FYI

Donating to devs doesn't make them more likely to release things...

   Re: AJ (Unregistered) - 2007-09-09
 » Support.

I don't think it's about getting more out of the dev.'s. I think it's about supporting what they've already done. Either way, it is good to let people know that they and their work are appreciated. Ahman "retired" right after my first donation and I was just fine with that. All the updates since have just been bonus' for us users.

 » Arrr.

Whats IRShell useful for again?
I've had it for ages and only used it for viewing gameboots.

   Re: D@rk_Zer0 - 2007-09-09
 » Re: McPirate

IRShell is an organizational homebrew that lets you view files, songs, games, etc. from a simple directory view. also on the main screen there are useful buttons such as usb toggle, usbhost, nethost, MP3 volume up/down, and much more. so it's very useful ;)

 » Alarm clock

Alarm clock doesnt work @ 10mhz anymore, when it plays the alarm sound its all distorted, etc (most likely from the CPU being too low) This version BROKE the alarm clock, it did not fix it
