Homebrew - iR Shell 4.8 - Image 1AhMan is back! Again!

He's released the latest version of iR Shell, which he describes to be mostly a maintenance release. It also adds a new feature for homebrew running on the Slim to use extra memory.

Here's the changelog for iR Shell v4.8:

New Features for PSP Slim:
  • Added support to homebrews that are built with the option PSP_LARGE_MEMORY, that is, to use the extra slim memory. When running these homebrews under iR Shell, they will have access to another 26MB slim RAM. Pls note 2MB of slim RAM is reserved for iR Shell.
  • Enhance the HTML Viewer (originally developed by Dark_AleX) to use the extra slim memory. These should help to reduce "Not enough memory" message when accessing larger web contents. The HTML Viewer can be accessed via predefined homebrew #1 icon.

Basically it can replace the XMB with the exception of not being able to play videos. It allows you to multitask between two things at once-like listening to music and websurfing.

So I don't know IRShell that well, but maybe someone can shed some light on the extra RAM the psp slim has, does IR Shell have like a built in web browser or something? Basically what I'm asking is if it runs better then the Sony browser since everyone hates that "Not enough memory" error.

Thank you in advance.

Got the answer. Usually the browser can load a 2.1 MB flash file. Now it can load a 9 MB file. This is the answer to everyone that says "The PSP browser doesn't have enough memory."
