November 22, 2005 - Sega will be bringing one of adventure gaming's classic titles to the PSP, the latest issue of Famitsu reveals. Myst is currently in development for the portable format at Hoplite Research and will be published by Sega in Japan in March of next year.

Details on the PSP version are scarce at this point, but it seems that Sega and Hoplite are planning some bonus content in the form of new adventure scenarios. The game's visuals will also be updated for the PSP's wide screen format.
While a US version has yet to be announced, given the recognition the Myst name still holds, we're certain you can expect the title to appear in some form down the road.

I don't think Myst will be good portable game. It was great for the PC but portables are for shorter more engaging games that you can pause in the middle of any time. Myst is a game you play for hours on end. I'm not sure how it will turn out but... i probably won't get it when it does.

I agree. It's not a good portable title. And I think that Myst is played-out. I played Myst all the way through in one weekend and was completely absorbed...and then never played another Myst title through. I tried a few, but they were all so derivitive.

Myst as a portalble? I dunno. Maybe a better idea would be eBooks of the Myst novel trilogy. Those were great!

Certainly people who have played the game know its secrets and would not be interested in playing it again. Not sure when it was released, but work began on it back in '91. So I expect that there are a slew of younger gamers who have never played it.

Making it entriely free-roaming would seem to be a necessity these days. Being forced to stay on the path, while it served a purpose in the past, is certainly a bit restrictive for the Halo generation.

Still, it will be the first game of this genre. I'm sure it will do well, can't wait...

A slow moving game with long load times, sounds perfect for the PSP.
