Yup, a new build for the much talked about Nintendo 64 emulator has just been released moments ago. StrmnNrmn has released the official Daedalus R5 Emulator with many improvements.  Here is the change log from StrmnNrmn himself.

[+] New DynaRec engine, resulting in significant performance improvements
[+] New front end - ability to toggle a couple of options (more to come)
[+] Save game first pass (eeprom4k, eeprom16k and mempak)
    [^] Various interpreting engine optimisations
[~] Use .png file format for background images, save ~380KB
[~] Stripped out unnecessary code, save ~250KB

From the looks of it, there seems to be about a 2-3 frames per second of improvement on average.  Not to shabby if you ask me.  This is yet again a huge movement in the Nintendo 64 emulation scene.  Try out your favorite Roms and tell them how they work, if they work and the frames per second.  StrmnNrmn once again thinking about his fans has released two different versions of his excellent emulator, and the source if you want to fiddle around with it.  Thanks for the brilliant emulator StrmnNrmn.

 » Pretty good....

I don't know, this emu is pretty good, but its pretty tough to play these games so slowly. I realize that this is an almost impossible to thing to make, but it's not really that big of deal when your playing only some N64 games at 1/4 the actual speed....

what is the average fps on mario?

   by DJ (Unregistered) - 2006-06-14
 » not bad

pretty good, i like the save states add on, without that it was pointless in even trying to play a game. cant wait till this gets faster though.... then itl be a full emulator, sound would be nice too, dont need it though.

 » Which one is faster?

Is it me or is The PSdonkey version a little bit faster than this one. I have noticed that some games play better on PSdonkey's version also. What do you guys think?

 » its good but

Well I have to admit this is good work but now it seems that a 64 emu is kinda pointless since it takes up too much battery power. I guess i'll just stick to playing the n64 on my laptop. But congrats on making the emu a little faster

 » Sweeeeet Homebrew

When did the homebrew scene pop in? Was it Around May 2005 Or About the time of the japanese release? I have witnessed amazing progress for the PSP homebrew scene. Love the support for it. People have said it would take a few years for this progress. I believed it would take almost a year before we could emulate the 64. This is amazing!!!!!! Sony sucks! (I say that as I type away on a Sony PCG-GR370 VAIO. 5 year old computer. Its a great build too!)

007 and 1080 Snowboarding is on its way!
