PSP - Image 1Homebrew developer 3r Ch4mp1 returns with an update to his Power Management Plugin. From the previous version, this release now clocks the app to v0.22. It's a rather short changelog, but the new features are pretty important too. Some of you guys might have been waiting for these to be incorporated. Especially the 3.71 upgrade.

Power Management Plugin v0.22 has the following changelog:
  • Ported to 3.71 Kernel, for use with previous firmwares, use 0.21 Release
  • To turn off the PSP use R+SQUARE, it was changed in order to avoid conflicts with M33 Firmware VSHMenu
As always, 3r Ch4mp1 gives thanks to the many people who've helped him with coming up with the plugin. This release, however, is unique and is specially dedicated to his friend Noemi.

PSP Power Management Plugin - Image 13r Ch4mp1 is back with yet another update on the simple and yet highly useful Power Management Plugin. As the name of the homebrew implies, this little tool allows you to toggle and configure settings to maximize your PSP battery's juices - conserve its energy and save on some game time.

Changes for Power Management Plugin v0.21 include:
  • On Screen notifications when you activate a mode are displayed, thes ones are a bit experimental, so their behaviour may not be the adequate under some situations.
  • The Software Full Power Off has been modified, it now turns off completely the system without risk of crash. If PowerLock is active, the Software Power Off will be locked too.
  • The plugin seems to work in all the places of the XMB but is recommendable to turn modes in the XMB root to avoid conflicts with button press combos, crashes seem to have been bypassed.
If it's your first time to use this tool, the readme is included in the download. Make sure you look at it thoroughly. As before, 3r Ch4mp1 is giving a shout out of thanks to Neophyte, CoolJ, pspdev.org, his friends, Noe and Rebeca, and above all, Mariloli (a special dedication from 3r Ch4mp1: "because I simply love you and i'm very happy of your return from holidays").

Power Management Plugin 0.2 - Image 1

3r Ch4mp1 has released version 0.2 of Power Management Plugin to add a new mode and to update it for the latest M33 custom firmware versions. If you missed the first release of the plugin, Power Management is a handy tool to let your PSP conserve energy and save on the batteries.

3r Ch4mp1 has added the Black Screen Mode to the plugin. Toggle it on or off by pressing L+START. It's useful if you just want to listen to music. Here's the full changelog for version 0.2:

  • Added the Black Screen Mode, it turns off your PSP Screen, and if you press buttons it will remain black, useful when listening songs

  • Fixed the compatibility bugs which lead to system to a crash with the latest M33 Firmware updates

  • Some of the key combinations were changed in order to be more compatible with the latest M33 updates, and by popular demand with Wildcard Firmwares too

And although it isn't part of the changelog, 3r Ch4mp1 also wanted to thank a couple of folks:

  • To Neophyte for being my tester

  • To CoolJ for helping me and reviewing one snippet of my code

  • To all of them who used the initial release of the plugin and made suggestions and reported bugs

  • To pspdev.org for their SDK and their API

  • To all my friends

  • To Mariloli, because I simply love you, and for making me dream with kissing you till the sunrise.

Don't forget to consult the readme before installing. For further discussions, go to the PSP development forum linked below.

Power Management Plugin - Image 1

3r Ch4mp1 dropped by our forums recently to announce the creation of the Power Management Plugin which, as the name states, is a plugin you can use to optimize energy consumption and thus save on battery life.

According to the author, Power Management Plugin has four modes. The first is Music Mode, which underclocks the CPU to 60Mhz and the main system bus to 30 Mhz. It's main purpose is to save battery life while allowing you to listen to music. The second mode is called ToggleIdle, and its main purpose is to disable the autoidle function of the handheld (useful if you're reading a PSP magazine, for example). The third mode is called PowerLock, and it disables the console power switch to prevent accidental shutdowns of the PSP. Lastly, we have Software Full Power Off, which essentially shuts off the entire system, much like Test30's FastPower application.

3r Ch4mp1 notes that you should probably use the different modes on the root of the XMB to avoid hangups. That being said, why not give this nifty plugin a try? Just remember to check the readme beforehand. Enjoy!
