Video game developer 8ing again updated the official website for Bleach: Heat the Soul 4, revealing Nell Tu as a playable character, as well as a partner character in the upcoming Bleach video game. It was just a few days ago when we learned that popular characters Luppi and Wonderwice has been added as well. Anyway, who the heck is Nell Tu? For those of you not so familiar with the manga and anime series Bleach, Nell is actually a female Arrancar toddler who lives in the desert parts of Hueco Mundo. She's with her adoptive hollow brothers Dondo Chakker and Pesshe as well as their pet Bawabawa. One of her remarkable abilities is to literally swallow attacks from her enemies and fire it back to them with even stronger force. The remains of her hollow mask (the broken skull she wears on her head) enables her to do this. If you really want to know, she also has the ability to heal others using her saliva. Bleach: Heat the Soul 4 was released in Japan on May 24. Exact release dates for North America and other markets are still to be confirmed. |

We've got a little bit of Bleach news for you guys today. According to the official Bleach: Heat the Soul 4 website, two new characters have been added to the roster.Transliterating Japanese names into English is a hit or miss kind of thing, so let's not argue about the "true and correct" spellings, eh? Anyway, both characters are members of Aizen Sousuke's Arrancar troops, and if you've been following the series then you might be familiar with them. The first addition is Luppi, the former 6th Espada who got a stomach vent from Grimmjow. He'll be a playable character in the game. Next up is the child-like Wonderwice. Unlike Luppi, this Arrancar will appear in the game as a character partner. You'll be able to use these guys to beat down your friends when Bleach: Heat the Soul 4 hits Japan on May 24. Click on the read link below to check out some of Luppi's moves. |

PSP Fanboy is up once again with this week's list of new titles from around the world. While there isn't much to be happy about in the United States, other than the release of the actually-quite-fun Legend of the Dragon game, there is some good news for the rest of the world. For starters, Europe will finally be getting Konami's Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops this week. The adventures of Solid Snake and company on the PSP include hunting down and recruiting new people, as well as taking down baddies with well-timed sleeper holds and neck snaps. Ah, sweet, silent death, how we've missed you. Speaking of death, nothing beats being a death god...with the exception of being beaten by some bigger, badder death god. That's why 8ing's Bleach: Heat the Soul 4 is alive and kicking (butt, that is) in Asia. It's the fighting game that features giant swords, insane special attacks, and a guy who can see dead people as the main character. How's that for a sixth sense? In any case, the full list of titles are below: U.S. Games:

The latest update for 8ing's Bleach: Heat The Soul 4 official site includes a new character and a new game mode. This may be a bit spoiler-y for some folks who are new to the series, but hey, it was hinted enough, so what's the big surprise anyway? Behold the "new" character:
Yes, it was inevitable. Anyhow, the "new game mode" on the site is really just an update on the previews that they have for the cinematics before the fight in each mission of the game. You can head to the official site via our "read link below." Even if it's in Japanese, clicking on the "viewer" option should lead you to a streamed flash video of what they're previewing. The previewed fights really make up for the language barrier. There are two new videos in that area and they preview the dialogue before the fights. Anyway, having said that there's a language barrier, perhaps there really is a "new game mode" (as we understand the term "game mode") in there somewhere . Thing is, we really can't say at the moment. We'll update you once the Japanophiles here at QJ gets a look at the site. For now, if you're fluent and you noticed several things we missed, please make use of the comments section to alert us. |

During the latest episode of Bleach, guess what decided to spirit everyone away? The TV spot for Bleach: Heat the Soul 4 was just aired, and if Karl B.'s got anything to say about it (given that he put down the PSP first and take a break from playing Bleach: HTS3), he'd probably be whooping for Orihime right now.
While said anime heartthrob is twirling her leek across the internet, we've managed to snag out a YouTube video (uploaded by des326) of the TV spot for the upcoming PSP title. Now check out those gigantic swords, killer combos, and bright sparks of pure energy. Fourth in the Heat the Soul series, the game being developed by 8ing and published by SCEI is headed for a May 24 release in Japan. |

As a manga, Bleach is a phenomenon in Japan. The comic book charm was then channelled to PSP game adaptation Bleach: Heat the Soul. At first, fans were extremely grateful that SCEJ and developer 8ing came up with this game. But with three titles already out in less than two years and another one coming up, the quality of the titles are now in question. Wait, haven't you heard that there's a new Bleach game coming out? Well, it's the fourth one for the HTS series. The game's official website just opened today. Though there's nothing much to see there for now, visitors can take a look at the section dedicated to characters. The first title of the series was just released last year and as mentioned, there's another one coming up some time in 2007. Currently, there's a general feeling among fans that SCEJ has been milking the manga more than necessary. Issues encountered with the first titles included problems with frame rate, gameplay, player responsiveness and the incomplete roster of characters. Personally, I'd also prefer to wait for a well-thought, well-developed title than to have an onslaught of undercooked ones. We hope the marketing strategy being employed here by Sony wouldn't backfire as Bleach is so loved in Japan. We certainly don't want this game to leave a bitter taste in the fans' mouths. |
