Jeanne d'Arc is certainly one of the more interesting-looking RPGs that's headed for the PlayStation Portable - not only does it have a titular female heroine filling the role of the main character, but it's also a fantastic interpretation of the war between France and England. By fantastic, yours truly means as both very weird, and very good - and these screenshots will convince you of that and more. In this batch of fresh screenshots, we see the game's unique cel-shaded graphics tell a story of combat, self-discovery, and a duty to fight for king and country. The grid system that we see more in more in today's RPGs is very nicely done, with the characters detailed to the hilt and very distinguishable from one another. The portraits are drawn in an anime style that has a traditional feel to it, and conveys the emotions of the characters very well. Certainly a very good game coming from the folks over at Level 5 - let's just hope it doesn't have the horrifically sad ending that the actual figure in history ended up with. Updates as we get them, in the meantime enjoy the screenshots! The rest of the screens await after the jump! |

After the recent release of MonkeyBoy1916's Anime Style v5, it seems that DeNitro and Devin923">PSP Revolution is taking an upswing as MonkeyBoy's friend RomTheStampede has also decided to make his own theme for this popular homebrew. As advertised at MonkeyBoy1916's forums, this Mix has the following features:

Woohoo! MonkeyBoy1916 is at it again with his mods for DeNitro and Devin923's DDR-for-your-fingers, PSP Revolution. Now coming up with his Anime Style v5 mod, players can look forward to happy days ahead which involve playing a game which uses our favorite anime tunes (and with the deluge of Dark_AleX releases, lately, one can't help but wonder if all this is a Thanksgiving treat, or an early Christmas present). In any case, MonkeyBoy1916 has also pointed out that this isn't the final release of this version as his work was temporarily stopped because of an unfortunate PC problem. According to him, there should have been a whole lot more features added in this release such as more songs and better graphics, but that would have to wait for the meantime. He also mentions that he wishes to be able to make full use PSP Revolution 0.3's new features, so let's see what he comes up with in the weeks ahead. Some of the changes that he made for this version are:

ACAMM's September issue features a semi animated version of Ergo Proxy, a a fusion of 2D digital cell animation, 3D computer modeling, and special digital effects. It will be just like browsing your usual PSP magazines, however this time, instead of the usual news and updates, you'll be treated to sensational anime style graphics and amazing storyline. Its creator Dai Sato in an interview described as follows: "It is set in the future. A group of robots become infected with something called the Cogito virus, and become aware of their own existence. So these robots, which had been tools of humans, decide to go on an adventure to search for themselves. They have to decide whether the virus that infected them created their identity, or whether they gained their identity through their travels. This question is meant to represent our own debate over whether we become who we are because of our environment, or because of things that are inherent in us. The robots are all named after philosophers: Derrida and Lacan and Husserl." Scroll fast enough and you actually make the pictures come to life. Clever, clever. Monkeyboy1916's mod for DeNitro and Devin923's PSP Revolution, Anime Style,
is saying sayonara for now. Maybe, you're thinking that he has already
announced that in version three, but because of some bugs that were
found in that game's release, he continued to refine his work. This
time though, it's the real deal.
"Unfortunatly this is my last version this time, only because there aren't many more songs worth adding, but when a new version of PSP Revolution comes out I will be here to update Anime Style, and maybe throw in a couple songs," says Monkeyboy1916 on the letter he sent QJ. However, the recent additions to his mod would make it a farewell to remember. Since the last release, there are a number of new animes added to the pack like Samurai Champloo, Ruronin Kenshin, Ghost in the Shell, Eureka Seven and Cowboy Bebop. The previously included anime packs were given new tracks as well. Download: [Anime Style v4] The full song list awaits after the jump! |
