VTPW Lua Trivia v1.0 - improved PSP Trivia version - Image 1VTPW Lua Trivia v1.0 - improved PSP Trivia version - Image 2

Homebrew developer Victor_raymond dropped by QJ.NET PSP Development Forum and released a modified version of Anonymous D's PSP Trivia v1.0. If you missed our earlier report on this, it is actually a trivia game that test players' skills on math, music, and popular culture.

According to Victor_raymond, the first build of the trivia game was ok but quite limited and that's why he thought about upgrading it. Here are the new improvements to PSP Trivia, now being referred to as VTPW Lua Trivia v1.0:
  • Added background music at selection screen (less boring)
  • Hold "Select" to see Previous Answer (very useful)
  • A simple shortcut to play the Trivia on PC (useful when your PSP is low battery at school, don't say it will never happen, procastinator)
  • Press "Start" to stop Trivia and see your result at anytime
  • Questions can now take up to 4 lines
  • Proper Score counting (bug fixed)
  • Trivia now support up to 15 quizzes
  • Trivia now support up to 25 questions per quiz
  • New Skin (jpg) and layout design by ME
  • (Bonus) I have included 100 Official question of the New U.S Citizen tests.
VTPW Lua Trivia v1.0 doesn't come with a Readme.txt file but those who've tried Anonymous D's version should be familiar with the controls. If you want to know more about bugs and future additions, refer to our forum link below.

PSP Trivia 1.0: a moddable LUA trivia game - Image 1

Homebrew developer Anonymous D (who also made Console Grab) has release his newest game PSP Trivia v1.0. This tests players knowledge on various fields including simple math, popular culture, and music. Making it even better is the fact that players can mod the game and configure the questions to their liking.

Editing the program is very simple, and can be done even by people who have had no experience coding programs. A version for the 1.5 kernel, 3.71 M33, and even Windows is included in the package making it a pretty sweet deal for those who want to try it out.

If you decide to play the game, the questions can get pretty tough, but we're sure that you guys will be up to the challenge. Download the game and try modding it, you'll have a lot of fun testing your friends' knowledge.

Here's a little tip to get you started: if you plan on adding answers which aren't numbers, be sure to enclose them in quotation marks.

Dodge Beta 1 - new game from new group of coders - Image 1 Dodge Beta 1 - new game from new group of coders - Image 2

Homebrew developers Anonymous D, Gu3, PJSpeedy, and LmtLmt just banded together and will now be collectively known as Team Pandemonium. What we have here is the group's first project known as Dodge. Take note that this is still in its beta phase and other features will still be included in the future.

In this game, you will be controlling a white square character. Then there will be other gray square characters that endlessly move around the screen. The objective in Dodge Beta 1 is for you to stay away from the enemy squares as long as possible. The longer you stay away from them, the higher your score is going to be.

For this build, there are three different difficulty modes starting from Easy to Hard. Each mode has different number of enemy characters. Also, take note that their movement gets faster as you progress in the game. There is also a good background music that makes the experience a bit more fun.

Team Pandemonium gave word that the game itself is already complete but several updates will be provided for the Menu section in the future releases.

Homebrew - SCS side scrolling shooter v1.0 - Image 1

Homebrew developer Anonymous D who also made Console Grab has released SCS (S)ide s(C)rolling (S)hooter v1.0. It is a short but extremely fun side-scroller for the PSP. Note that this game was coded in Lua so you'll need a Lua Player to run it.

Like Gradius and other classic 8-bit shooters, this game scrolls from the left to right as you try to keep your ship alive. To kill the opposing ships, you have the option of blasting them with your gun or ramming them with your shields. If you ram them though, be advised that it takes away 25% of the shield strength. Don't worry since it will slowly recharge once you've used it up.

All in all, this was a very solid effort from Anonymous D. Download the program and try it out. Like most homebrews, be sure to go over the Readme document first before installing this on your PlayStation Portable units.

PSP Homebrew: Console Grab v1.2 - Image 1

The original Console Grab v1.0 gives you control of a giant hand which you use to grab consoles and handhelds for points. Yes it's weird, and yes it's also fun as heck. Anonymous D on the DCEmu forums released the newest update on the game which now has a two-handed mode.

The two-handed mode should allow for some pretty fast and frantic action, or some cool co-op. Before you get all excited, note that this is a LUA game, so be sure you know how to install it. Anyway, here are the controls for the game since there is no readme file included with the game.

Hand 1:
  • Left shoulder button = grab
  • D pad up = up
  • D pad down = down
  • D pad left = left
  • D pad right = right
Hand 2:
  • Right shoulder button = grab
  • Triangle = up
  • Cross = down
  • Square = left
  • Circle = right
The game has quite a few modes making this the perfect time waster. I'm particularly partial to the newly added two-handed mode since it adds another layer of depth to the game. Be sure to keep checking back here for the latest homebrews.

Console Grab v1 - Image 1

Over at the DCEmu forums, Anonymous D has released the homebrew game Console Grab v1.0. In Console Grab, you're tasked with the control of a giant hand, which you use to grab consoles and handhelds for points. As is standard with games of this sort, you want to keep on picking up these consoles and handhelds to beat your high score.

Anonymous D notes that to get the game to run on your PSP, "Place folder in psp/game150 or psp/game with 1.50 as your game kernel. 1.5 users will need to kxploit the eboot."

Here are the directions for the game:
  • d pad = move hand
  • triangle = exit
  • x = grab or confirm
  • circle = increase hand speed
  • square = decrease hand speed
  • L = increase console speed
  • R = decrease console speed
Note that by increasing the console speed or decreasing the hand speed will increase the number of points you get per successful catch, while decreasing the console speed or increasing the hand speed will lessen the number of points you acquire.

That being said, enjoy the game, and don't forget to check the readme.
